Lets just hope that this MMO doesn't turn out to be all smoke and mirrors. This MMO is what i expected FFXIV to be.
Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

Im picking on WoW btw because its the beast that made all of this possible
I have been looking for a game like this for years. It really is to early to say it will be any good but it has big money behind, or so it seems. I think some light needs to be shed on it here in the west and stir up a little excitment. It sounds like a US launch is certain from what ive pieced together.
Lets hope it all pans out!
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
What exactly are the sandbox features of ths game? Can I build a city and concur territory like EVE, become a pure crafter like SWG? What is sandbox?
Youtube clips are best to watch but from what i gather there will be house building, gardening, ship building, sea combat and well land combat. Giant seamless world anyhow watch some vids or hit up this fansite
It all looks too good to be true but worth keeping an eye on nevertheless.
Some of the small stuff like planting a forest, climbing trees or chopping them down, planting a garden and it slowly grows... your right it does seem to be to much. I dont know how its stayed off the radar so long. In the last ling i provided it talks of a early 2011 release, Korea i assume, but that still means its nearly finished.
The game seems to have all the things that people (or me at least ) think would be cool in a mmo. Im just scared some other aspect of the game will suck because of all the neat features. I dont see it yet / crosses fingers
This game needs its own page here!

Yes, looks like the dream of dreams for MMOs. But I cannot avoid being skeptical/suspicious of Eastern MMOs fitting my tastes in gameplay and almost think the incredible Cry2 engine is so good looking I would prefer worse graphics for more customizable/destructable world eg Minecraft !!
Would prefer more info on features? Any links/lists available?
As a sandboxer, i have to say this looks just amazing... All these posts saying 'too good to be true?' though, are we all really THAT jaded lol:)
(I said the same to my GF when we watched the vids btw )
If they make 'labour power' the basis of revenue for this game, by simply selling it for RL money, allowing me to play and earn everything in it while allowing those that CBA to buy it and play just for the PvP or whatever, then I will be stoked.
Undoubtedly its going to be a worth-playing game and I will definitely keep an eye on it.But I wouldn't really call it a 'new-gen MMO' cause as the developers said, it just compines the best elements of the best MMORPGs out there.Plus adding an interactive world and some new 'enviromental' features. So I think we would better not overhype, cause epic dissapointment is some meters away...Although,arguably it looks promising and it's something that really the MMO community needs. And I guess a 2012 q2 Western release, its a big project with a huge budget,so I really doubt they will release it eariler.
Sandbox MMORPGs that are not very well-known but definitely worth a look:
Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom server)
All these posts saying 'too good to be true?' though, are we all really THAT jaded lol:)
yes, with every new hype i get even more jaded!
no wonder the unhyped games were the best in this lousy year 2010: Uncharted Waters and Perpetuum.
unfortunately it was not the setting i was looking for.
Yeah, I know, I would be lying if I said I wasnt the same.
The fact that they are backing up what they are saying with vid evidence this early speaks loudly to me though, so I have hopes for this. I have been hanging put for a 'world' MMO to finally raise it's head.
Rift will do for me until then... it isnt what i am really looking for, but its polished and fun.
Looks interesting and with promise, but right now it is waaaaay too early to tell if it will be any good or not. SOunds like it has a lot to live up to and no MMO has really lived up to it's potnetial yet.
And FFS can they avoid having the damn metrosexual, androgynous, female looking male characters models and faces.

While I get your point, look at some fo the Terra vids for example lol, tbh even Aion didnt suffer from the cliche of all korean game male avatars being like this many insisted it did. It was very easy to make a 'manly' character in that game, and I am sure it will be as easy in this one.
Certainly nothing to worry about at this stage of things whatever.
Finally! something where your mount can die too - i like how his horse got slaughtered and his legs totally buckled up, lol. It's nice one of the features in ultima online i liked was you could tame wild horses - the games today give you all these things to rid on that feel so disconnected from the world and its effects.
From what I've heard, the beta testers thought the game was utter crap and shouldn't be released but again they have a different audience so who knows how it plays out here although if it doesn't get big there it probably won't come to the west.
Yea that's what I heard also. There was like zero intrest in this game at G*Star and that makes me really worried. I hope they can work on it some more and we can get a better feel for the game in 2011.
I know Im a few posts late.
But there is one fact that almost no one can dispute; most of what comes out of the East in terms of MMOs are piece of shit grinders. Its why they have a hard time with Western markets.
And the fact that the Korean "grind-happy" audience doesnt like it, brings me hope.

That would be ironic if the best MMO ever came from an Asian F2P company
To the caterpillar it is the end of the world, to the master, it is a butterfly.
damn that is crazy - love those features - reminds me so much of ultima online
Lets just hope that this MMO doesn't turn out to be all smoke and mirrors. This MMO is what i expected FFXIV to be.

Nice. Another sandboxy game to look forward to in addition to Earthrise. Very refreshing to see.

Ok, my interest is officially piqued!
Rumored to be released early 2012 iirc
So What Now?

The game looks like Ultima Online with modern graphics and some standart "a must" features for a present-day mmorpg.
That's exactly what i've been looking for to for many years now.
A good call for a real "next-gen mmorpg", unlike many others which are in production now.

played: Everquest I (6 years), EVE (3 years)
months: EQII, Vanguard, Siedler Online, SWTOR, Guild Wars 2
weeks: WoW, Shaiya, Darkfall, Florensia, Entropia, Aion, Lotro, Fallen Earth, Uncharted Waters
days: DDO, RoM, FFXIV, STO, Atlantica, PotBS, Maestia, WAR, AoC, Gods&Heroes, Cultures, RIFT, Forsaken World, Allodds

Already following this game for a few months. Very interesting game, but we'll see.
Just wow tbh. it's been a long while since I have actually felt excited about a new MMO.
