This game is one of the few MMO's I would probably try out.
The only things I can complain about is that its not single world and the graphics looks to much mange for my liking. Otherwise, everything else looks amazing.
Looks promising, but knowing the grindage of Lineage and Aion I'm not getting too excited. If they can somehow re-introduce the excitement of UO while avoiding the asian grind factor then they might be onto a winner - but then again it's being designed for an asian audience so.....
Had this on my radar for quite some time but i've been burned before and too old and too wise to go all fanboi until i log into the game and decide myself.
How come you have to get down of your horse to fight? How come your horse gets experience by just staying nearby? How come your Horse Swims!?!? The meteor magically appearing from inside the cave and then disappearing out of nowhere... Guy hitting the mine nodes, instead of nude rock, not a single physics. Guy digging on some soil, lol, just bland animation, rather than actual physics. not a single change on the soil pile, not a single soil on the tool...
Trees, crops growing before the day/night cycle even changed. Cant it get even more watered down? What about the wood log magically appearing above the lumberjack bench?
Not one of the things they will change, or that can change. Just looking at the UI I already learned/abstracted enough about it to decided its fate.
How long untill people dont even consider it a sandbox....? Another imutable world.
It'd be nice if this came to western shores. It looks to me like it could combine some of my favourite elements of games like Vanguard and SWG.
As for the grind that people always harp on about, well isn't that a standard MMO thing? Grind is possibly just people doing something they're tired of. The beauty of a large game is there will always be something new or different to do. You cause the grind, not the developer, in that case.
Of course many modern MMOs are going the way of grind because they give you one path, or few paths, to follow and no variation. I point the finger at you, Rift. I think ArcheAge could be different, but I'm not getting far too optimistic yet.

Yeah, you better not.Overhyping destroys all the fun! And though it is widely known that most of the MMOs which come from the East have a more grind-like system,Arche Age can be different. J.Song is a famous and skilled developer who is active for many years in the MMO industry, so he actually knows what the market wants and needs. And to be honest,as you said, when they offer you a huge world, with many options and many ways to follow it's the players that "cause" the grind.
Sandbox MMORPGs that are not very well-known but definitely worth a look:
Ryzom, Haven and Hearth, Xsyon, The Repopulation, UO private shards, Mortal Online, Darkfall 1 remakes (New Dawn or Rise of Agon), RPG MO, Project Gorgon, EQ: Sanctuary (custom server)

i would be more than happy, if i could kill mobs with a superior AI all day long in a huge, open, virtual world, instead of grinding more or less stupid scripted quests all day long on my rails to level 80.
Wanted to post this for the sake of discussion alone. Though it may not be my type of game,i follow the news like everyone else i guess, plus, progress is progress, the more one game has to offer, the sooner others will follow.
From what we read in forums,it appears as if it will be able to run smoothly even with an average of rigs by the time it is released, which is well good, the more the merrier. I do however wonder about the open housing. Not sure how many of you ever played SWG? Will use it as reference,as the problem there was evident..remember how your fps dropped to 5 every time you even got near a housing hub? How it clogged everything down to a crawl? I honestly wonder how they will be addressing this here..it will also be non-instanced right? They got a lot of experience,so this should have been taken in i guess..I am aware we have seen vids released showing how smooth it runs, yes, but when a year will have passed, and you will have large hubs of PC owned houses (its pvp world, you know they will keep them in hubs), how smooth will it then be? Will we ever see a trailer shot inside them? Games age,and through time gain in content and depth..data-piling..will this end up being a no-no for some areas, like so many games before it?..i.e. akin to lagfests in SWG housing areas,AoC guild sieges,Aion fortress sieges, etc etc? Makes me wonder why this insisting of leaving player houses non-instanced really. (Again, for the sake of conversation alone,do please refrain from "my rig run sieges fine"..yes,many did,and twice as many did not, just follow the cancellings due to that).
Have a good weekend you all
p.s I know sieges and guild halls aren't 'housing',but i roughly put them together in the data-pilling factor (my expertise is breath-taking,i know)

Its clear the glass of water is half empty here.
What you want is a RL simulator. It doesn't need ultra realistic physics to be a sandbox, compromises have to be made to make it work sometimes, the more realistic it is the more time the devs have to spend on making it work good enough, and of course it's gotta be fun.
And btw, just because it's not the sandbox you are looking for doesn't make it the sandbox *I* am looking for.

I will give this game a try.
I will continue to follow it for now. Not getting excited just yet though.
pve server would be useless.
Edit: Anyone notice the Guild Wars icons in the video linked above?

THe only kind of quests that belong in a sandbox game are given out by players, go kill bob, because he stole my bread, etc..

I should have options in a Sandbox including PVE quests if I want to do them, I just shouldn't be forced to do them.
I saw the videos, read the reviews.
This is not the sandbox we were waiting guys.
Gameplay is poopoo. Combat is poopoo.
