Rift fans in outrage over the patch 1.1

herculeshercules Member UncommonPosts: 4,925

Seems rift has settled down into the trend of massive nerfs like other mmo.

This has turned the rift forum into a frenzy with complaints of 2 of the 4 classes been heavily nerfed and one lifted to the new OP status.

Guess rift dev are human and do make errors afterall.Mind you making such nerfs jst before the end of the free month seems like bad buisness planning.

Anyhow i only play rift for 1-2 hrs a day at best so most nerfs do not affect me .Good casual game until i find something better.

    Yes it does

And people are just sour because their OP class got nerfed. It happens all the time - I wouldn't worry much about their nerdcry.

I play a Warrior - and I could care less about the nerfs - many of them were needed. Not a big deal IMO

Seriously this is beyond me. The reason that the game is a shameless rip off with no innovative idea whatsoever is overlooked, but a patch with absolutely irrelevant balance changes is somewhat strong enough to quit the game puzzles me completely.

    REALITY CHECK

The FotM PvPers are where the majority of the complaints are coming from.

There are still some things that need to be balanced, but it's nowhere near as bad as many of the complainers are making it seem to be.

The people who are screaming the most and "quitting", are the same people who throw tantrums over any MMO they play. Some players just won't be happy unless they can faceroll to victory without impunity.

Trion's developers like to fine-tune with a meat-hook and a ball-peen hammer. I saw this so often on the Alpha server and lost my enthusiasm for the title when those poorly thought-out changes were packed to the live servers. Trion can't seem to make anything more than hasty kneejerk reactions to complaints from what can be labeled, "the usual suspects". Frankly, I don't think they have the competence to make reasonable decisions.

this is true from my perspective. the warriors who could charge, CC & dish out more dmg than a rogue are now upset because they're on par. The mages however got buffed in the dmg area a bit but since there's skill in one of hte trees that has a stuns that procs people are now getting CC'd to death from 30m away. Tehy need to tweak a little bit but the balance changes aren't that bad, most people are overexaggerating. They did do some stupid nerfs like lowering the amount of plaques you earn (tokens from expert dungeons used for gear) from about 15 down to 4 so that's a pretty big hit. Plus they nerfed the amount of malformed souls (items used to open raid rifts) which was dumb because not many people were doing those rifts to begin with since the loot was typically subpar to T1 & T2 gear, the rifts were mostly just fun. There wasn't any real reason to do that.

The rumor is however that a good chunk of the balance team is made of the people who did the balancing in Warhammer. So if you played that I'm sure you know things do not look good for the future of balance in pvp for this game.

The "nerfs" are actually largely bug fixes to issues that caused "the usual suspects" abilities to do more damage than intended.

Their "kneejerk reaction" was to fix what quite literally was actually broken.

They reduced the amount of plaques that drop in T2 fro 4 to 2 per boss. However, they added a couple daily expert quests (one for T1, one for T2) that reward 10 plaques I believe it is. Unless you intended to run more than two experts a day, it's not that much of a nerf, and if anything is more helpful to those who can't run 3+ experts a day.

Entire classes were not nerfed. A few souls were though. When you go from being nearly unstoppable (looking at you warriors) to average, its a big hit. It'll all blow over. Rogues are pissed about something also but im not sure about that topic. Rogues seemed ok to me but allot of people were complaining about the saboteur soul being OP.

What bothers me the most I think, is what was said above.  The PvP babies are now ranting and raving.  Look, get over it.  PvP isn't the be all and end all in a game.  if you want PvP...go play Mortal Online or Darkfall.  In games that mesh PvE with PvP with no seperation, it never ends well.  The PvP babies seem to get their way and ruin the PvE.

Now, on the other side of that coin.  There IS one game that did it well.  That was able to seperate the skills/abilities and make it work.  Guild Wars.  They did it right for handling the PvP AND PvE in one game.  The skills were nearly the same.  Except one was made to fit PvE the other PvP.  Rift could have used that.  But again, with so many souls..well...we see what happens.

Would you maybe be so kind... and give us non-Rift Players or ex-Rift Players a hint what exactly you are talking about, what they are gonna nerf exactly? A slightly detailed reference maybe...?

Sorry but this Post, without listed any Detail on what exactly, so we can see how big the Desaster might be, is a pure Joke.

    Regards.

I play as a warrior and i can no longer go steamroll everyone in a warfront.. My champion still does well, but it cant charge into the thick of the battle and get kills like i used to.. But, i've noticed that my paragon deals way more dmg now and is good for burst dmg, so thats what i've been using for pvp.. Also been messing around with a paladin build with lots of block+armor, and each time i block it deals 50% of dmg back to the person attacking me haha.. Sorta jus sit there, heal myself, and watch as their health drops while they whack on me.. Mages are doing a lot more dmg i can see, but that beats them being cannon fodder i guess.. All and all i think it was a much needed patch.

Complaints of unbalanced pvp in a casual MMO? Now that's funny.

When did you start playing "old school" MMO's. World Of Warcraft?

Outrage? Really? Why then have I not been seeing any of this so called outrage expressed in the global chat or the guild chats on both Rift servers I play on? It may just be different where you play (I'm on Deepstrike and Dimroot) but all I've heard so far is people agreeing that their own classes were overpowered, or that clerics should be the best healers. I play a champ/reaver spec as my main and my toon was certainly too nasty, not that I didn't enjoy that fact =).

Oh also I've seen a lot of people happy that other mage specs besides warlock/necro don't suck (at least as much) any more.

but your right, the post is a joke. There was some class balance in the patch but more than anything, it was bugs being fixed.

I'm waiting to see what happens with the bard soul.  I respecced one of my roles to mostly bard and it's just silly.  I can pretty much stand in the middle of a warfront and slowly kill others while buffing my team and pretty much never get hurt.  I'm sure the nerfbat will swing that way eventually

The fans of the game are not up in arms over 1.1, just the usual tards that were playing OP classes getting upset because they aren't OP anymore.

I play all 4 classes and all 4 are just as effective as they were before the patch.  Then again, I wasn't trying to rely on one OP skill(flamespear anyone)to spam over and over for /teh win.

They still need to tune a little more to be honest.  People who play known over powered class's should be thankful they had this much time.   If you want to rage quit because you can no longer 1-2 shot people do not let the door hit you on the way out.

  • Panther2103Panther2103 Member EpicPosts: 5,779

This happens every single time any class gets nerfed. Anyone that rages easy, and was enjoying the class being overpowered, go on the forums the SECOND they hear their class is getting nerfed and say "I'm quitting if you don't take that back" "My 6 month subs are cancelled now". It happens with every game. Look at the wow forums any time they want to fix a class, or try to balance things. The people who play paladins for example would say "This is stupid, why would you nerf paladins I quit because my class sucks now". My class got nerfed in 1.1, Titans strike no longer does nearly as much as it did before. I never raged, I'm not quitting. I understand why.

The class balance fixes were pretty minor with the bulk of the "big nerfs" being bug fixes such as AOE abilities doing much more than intended damage, armor being ignored by abilites that were not supposed to ignore it, etc. This led to some classes speccing in specific ways that took full advantage of those bugs...then they bragged about it and discussed it explicitly in the class forums instead of reporting them as bugs... gee, I wonder what happens when you do that?

Guess who the biggest QQers over there are now :)

And yes, this happens in all MMOs that have PvP content. Even in LOTRO at the beginning where "monster play" was just a side attraction and PvP was very much a low priority the drama of the PvP forums was insufferable.

I play a chloromancer (mage healer through damage) and mages alledgedly got a "HUGE BUFF" and our healing a "HUGE NERF" and I barely noticed the difference mainhealing  expert dungeons last night. The buff to damage was tiny and most noticeable at the low levels (small buffs to base damage which we all know is not as important as stacked stats at endgame) and the healing nerf niw prevents a single bard or a single chloromancer from healing a full 20 man raid (The group healing is "smart" in that it triages the top 5 who need it...formerly the top 10.) Sure I'll miss my godliness in raids but it's a fair nerf.

I also did a lot of end-game PvPing last night and the only difference I noticed was that everyone, without exception, was harder to kill now and the warfront scroeboards were much closer than I've ever seen them...damn good outcomes imho.
