this is just an opinion
I've seen many video's of this game.. but don't see any new things in it..
Why are people so excited of this game? to me its just an tab target quest from a to b game?
I predict this game will end up the same as rift..

I really hope it does since Rift is one of the most successful MMO in recent years after strings of failed launches. However, i am 100% certain that it will do even better than Rift.
So you have seen everything before? Lightsabers in every other game, full voice over in every other game? Science fiction/fantasy in every other game?
I predict you know very little about this.
Videos do not do it justice.... Grab a beta key and try it out. I had my doubts.... Not anymore
Alot of people are star wars/Kotor fans, They owe it to themselves to play this game, atleast try it out.
Other than that I'm pretty excited about the game, even if it would be a totally new IP, Its just not for everyone I guess

how can rift be succesfull???
they lost 60% of there playerbase after the first month?
For me its simply because its star wars, no other reason. I'll play it till a quality sandbox comes out or darkfall 2.0 relaunches

Because they are still doing better than most MMOs out there, say Darkfall for example.

I don't know HOW but it is and no it didn't lose 60% of player base after first month. unless you got some link or news article to prove your stastics.
why did 6.5 million people buy MW3? I've heard its worse than even the sports games, almost nothing changed from MW2.
Thing is for me, I like how WoW played, I just got bored of the setting, it grew stale. An update and refinement on the formula in a new setting that I really like (thankfully not fantasy) by a company whos games I usually love. Why shouldnt I anticipate it? Everything doesnt need to break the mold or blow my mind.
Not that I dont like the new, heck I never thought I would ever like a puzzle game before Portal came along.
Also for Rift, define success. They seem to be doing just fine from what I hear. Initial retention rates, post WoW, always have been poor.
Anything that makes a profit could be considered a success. The level of success is subjectice to the company in question.

Before this past weekend test (my first time testing it) I knew for certain that my expectatioins were simply to unrealistically high and it would not be able to live up to that, so I prepaired myself as best as I could to try and judge the game by some reasonable standards.

Basically, if this game had all these features and wasn't star wars, i wouldn't touch it. But it is Star Wars, so "bzzzzzt" and may the force be with me.

It's funny, I'm having trouble logging in to any of my other games after the beta weekend as well. That has not happened in a long long time.
This game is WoW in space. No Swimming. No dynamic events. No open world PvP. No new ideas.
Only thing going for it is irritating quest text / voice overs that I skipped in WoW, because I just want to get to the action.
I was on the same wagon a lot of other people are on. Theres nothing new to the game. its a wow clone. no inovation. I am awaiting guild wars 2 . Then i got a beta invite last weekend and decided to play anyway. {mod edit}. but i am now far from a swotor hater as i was before i played it
Lets get some facts straight,
1. WOW is tab target and has more subs than just about all the worlds other MMO's combined so there is indeed a market for tab targeting in MMO's. The fact that you dont like them is pretty much irrelevent since games without it sell less. I'll bet you feel making a game aimed at the smallest demograph is a great idea but for the rest of the world, we like to make as much money as possible. If you like NON-Tab-Target games so much, get out there and get people playing them so they make more money and developers want to make them.
2. Rift and Aion are the most successful games launched in the last three years. Look at all the others, DCUO, STO, CO, APB, HellGate and EarthRise and where they are now... F2P because they could not make enough money on a sub model. Maybe in your world having enough subbers to make money is a bad thing but to the rest of the world, money is a good thing.
Promise me you will not play TOR or post in their forums...

thats not the games fault imo, people get bored if they have to do 10 quests these days......so imho its the people, not the game.
I played rift too.....but the only reason i quit rift is becouse i am an altoholic and the questlines were just too railed for me.
But that doesnt make it a bas game does it?
Hmmm. In a way, I do agree that there's nothing really "ground breaking" in this game. But it's not one element that sells a game is it? It's the total package. There was nothing "ground breaking" about Warcraft... and I think they've done pretty well.
I've had games with voiceover (Conan, Eq2). I've had games with lightsabers (SWG). And I've done the quest hubs from a to b (WoW). But there's something about this games total package and production value that makes it stand out, even to me, a 12 year mmo veteran.
So I would say that you should try it before making predictions.
That 60% loss after first month is pretty much made up number. I am still waiting for him to back up his numbers. Once first month of SWTOR is up you will see similar fake numbers to show how SWTOR is not a successful MMO.
I bought this one mmo called little Mermaids online... It didn't have swimming it totally ruined the immersion. If you can't swim the game is garbage I agree.
Swimming does not make or break a game, why even mention it? As for voice overs, why complain about a feature that has been pushed as a "main feature" since the beginning? Why subject yourself to something you know you will not like?
It has many things going for it. Including the fact that impatient people will be weeded out.
because its star wars and star wars fans are pretty rabid and will buy anything with star wars on it george lucas could crap in a box and put star wars on it and fans would be lined up to get it.
if this game was called Space Confict people would be crapping all over it. but because its Bioware, Star Wars and fully voiced over (LOL @ this being the main attraction) it gets a pass. {mod edit}
