Err, what again ? We have here reports of people who had to wait in login queues for hours... I wouldnt call that "well done".

Most the time people just say there waiting for 2012 and what comes with it which we all know what game that is.  Also people say they dont want to play another clone, thats a big one.  I Really dont get it, this mmo adds so many new and exciting things to the table, it doesnt have to be ground breaking.  They dont see my way of thinking though and i havent convinced any of these people that SWTOR is a great game.
The biggest thing is why are people so hell bent on there opinion, there is no changing there minds.  Usually normal people when they converse with others especially people that your having a good time with online will take someones opinion with a bit of integrity but not over TOR, there so adamant and stuborn about it not being worth there time that it makes me think there is something going on here more then meets the eye. Whats your take on the situation as the game launches?

To me is all about personal taste and let me elaborate. First of I'm a big Star Wars movie fan and I have the collection of all movies plus the extra dvds on the story and other info, but when it comes to mmorpg I only play them cause of the fantasy style they offer and I like games with swords and magic vs sci fi ones. In my mind the idea of playing with laser guns or shooting in general doesn't fit the mmorpg style. I play shooter games though for example CoD in which aiming is all about players skill and not the level and gear. If you get shot you die there is no rpg element on shooters for me personally. I just can't play a pew pew pew mmorpg period.

You had to mention CoD though?

That's pretty RPG like. You have your various perks attained at levels.

Now call me crazy but quite a few perks give higher levels supreme advantage.

Now lets talk about gun levels in CoD3.. Really?

    But i digress.

Ok since you have hard time to understand and argue something that has nothing to do with OP here it is:
In CoD I can be level 1 weapon level 1 and with just handgun and still kill over and over prestiged and high level players cause of my skill at shooting and moving around or even the way I get positions. In mmorpg with shooting as level 1 a high level will one shot you and you can't even hurt 1% of their HP. So really?
In mmorpg you don't need skills but high level and epic gear and you can just put a 5 year old to press 1. 2. 3. 4. and repeat.

Well obviously everyone is gonnansay they love it, even if it a was a crappy game. It's new, everyone just got theirs, etc.

Real, honest opinions are mainly gonna be found outside of the game and in a few weeks, if not more.

You don't write like you are 28, which tells me you are probably one of those kids that were the 12 year olds on the alliance.  Inexperienced, raw, a rpg virgin.  And honestly, the people who are so hell bent on their opinion about this game is because they were probably uber excited about it at the start, but once EA bought out BioWare they realized the epic failures that EA was introducing into the game.  I was paying attention to the game more than any other prior, going to the website everyday and searching on Bing News; I was stoked.  That was over a year ago.  I played almost all the Star Wars games and am an engineering student now.  I pride myself in my nerdiness.  But...EA crushed the hopes of an awesome si-fi mmorpg.  They ruined it and that made me made, stubborn, cold hearted (lol).  So yeah, SWTOR is gonna be a big disappointment to the Star Wars name, legacy, and George Lucas.  After you play your first few weeks, come back and tell everyone what you love so much about it, and I will tell everyone why it is just...horrid.

You lost all credibility as a "nerd" when you said you went to Bing.  I'm just saying...

what's better?  google?  google is too bland for me.  i like bing's setup and homepage, plus the perks of bing rewards.

This game is awsome and haters just can't stand reality, a game like WoW 7yr old will loose some folks to the new game and they hate it. Many MMO comunities don't c their games for what they really are because they enjoy the game, well good for them but don't trash the new game because of it.

And for all out there that say this is a clone for this or that, all cars have weels and that's how they work because it works. why re-invent something that don't need to be re-invented.

Ooh, excellent analogy choice, I've been waiting for water powered, self driving, flying cars most of my life, yet the car manufacturers keep providing the same basic model that's been available since, oh, 1900 or so.  (and they're even sort of dumbed down today, none really compare to the muscle cars of the 60's, emission controls and all that)

While they face some significant challenges to create such innovation in automobiles, not so much with MMOPRG's, they're boring and repetitive by intent more than need.  We have the technology to create better games, but Dev's chose not to because they're more concerned about making money than taking a chance on innovation.

SWTOR is most definitely a "better" standard theme park MMORPG, the thing is, not all theme parks need to be the same, but sadly most are.

And this is pretty much it, hence why you see vetern mmorpg players wanting sandbox mmorgps or a Guild wars 2 like game. There must be some reason behind our madness right? If you ask the mmorpg community that is tired of WoW esque games you'll get the same answer on the features the game should include.

The ironic thing is they are playing wow with lightsabres in partial space when flying in the Starfox Universe.
