Edit & foreword: Wanted to say I enjoy playing the game still, we ain't sheep!
Nearly fell down from my chair reading the below quote

If you're going to build a huge game and try to go out to a lot of people, you're going to have people who just react poorly."
He does push back hard against claims that SWTOR failed on the innovation front, stating, "We wanted to take the lessons that have been developed in that genre over years and years and years and basically refine them, much like other companies do with other genres. So, I don't know, it's just the way it is, but I don't see us as not being innovative. We're actually a lot more innovative within the MMO space than comparable games in other spaces like the first-person genre, the action genre -- games like that."
Just to throw in my 2 cents: Someone asked if lightsabers even worked underwater. Someone also said an underwater zone was either stupid or wouldn't make sense in Star Wars. Someone also mentioned the idea of swimming was silly.
I can think of two examples within the Star Wars universe of under water that are not only canon but would translate interestingly into a world/zone/something to dick around in within ToR. Naboo had underwater cities as clearly shown in one of the new trilogy of films. There was an episode of the clone wars cartoon show made by the dexter's lab/samurai jack guy that takes place entirely underwater (showing light sabers to work there) and every event within that cartoon was considered 100% canon. So it could work and fit into the lore of the game appropriately. Not that they should ever add such content, but any suggestions of such are not actually out of left field.
And not having read alllll the replies to this thread, one of the earlier posts was suggesting that WoW is who is being copied in regards to guild leveling and mounts and some other features listed in the OP dude's list. WoW did not create or innovate that stuff, fyi. just sayin.
People are so funny. When SWTOR's features or mechanics resemble other MMO's, the reaction is 'yawn, it's a WoW clone, it's too much like other MMO's, same ol' same ol''. Yet when SWTOR differs in stuff from other MMO's, it suddenly becomes 'why can't SWTOR be more like this or that MMO?'
Because there is nothing that SWTOR differs from other MMOs? Class story everyone supports, VOs people think is good but a sizeable portion of gamers say that BW went a bit overboard though. A lot of things were borrowed from WoW (and yes WoW borrowed stuff from UO, EQ, and who knows what else) but they have a subpar quality which is why they say "why can't it be like this or that MMO."
People are yearning for innovation hence why GW2 is very highly hyped and why TSW is growing hype.
People were sold on SWTOR being innovative which the opposite is the truth.
Nobody who had followed TOR for any length of time were sold on it being, 'innovative'. They were sold on it being a Star Wars MMO designed by Bioware. Bioware said themselves they had based it on the most successful game in the genre at the time, WOW. Most people knew what they were getting, a progression themepark with VO quests, the mechanics of which are easily identifiable. Don't change history to suit your arguement.
GW2 and TSW might be highly hyped but theres an old saying: 'better the devil you know', which we had with SWTOR, we kinda knew what we were getting. GW2 might be a good game but I can guarantee half of the people who champion it on here will be disapointed by it and as for TSW you'll be lucky if it releases either a) this year or b)barely functional.
One have to wonder that why almost none of these issues, some which are big, were not mentioned in any of these so called "professional" reviews, such as one's on this site.
It is like professional media is not a place where you can have honest, frank criticism anymore. Sad, just sad.

Seems you didn't even bother to read your source throughoutly.
Dude I'm trying to tell you without getting banned around these parts lol. Well, currently, one day out of the week people are able to do the Mists currently. Who knows, maybe that'll change in the future.
