Yup. If I recall there was some really weird bug in BF3 Beta that completely twisted the shape of your character, making him look like someone from Team Fortress 2.

Yep I noticed the lag in videos too. I hope that they have some debugging going on because this could be a big issue on release otherwise.

Coincidentally I tested Tera eu this weekend and there lag was part of the deal ... people went rabid and cursed Frogster like only mmo gamers can.

Playing (especially pvp) with constant lag can be very frustrating.

    Here's the issue:

People don't all have fantastic PC's in the media and are using FRAPs. If you don't have an i5-2500K, prepare for horrible recording performance.

Also, running this game isn't going to be possible on toasters anyway, you're looking at a minimum of the sandy bridge integrated GPU. MINIMUM.

holy crap if you are running an integrated GPU you shouldn't even be gaming, the sandy bridge integrated is less than half as good as a gt 430, and the 430 almost 1/3 the performance of a gtx 260.

I SERIOUSLY doubt ANYONE is using less than a gtx260 who's putting up vids or testing the game right now.  If they are having performance problems, then it's something to take seriously though.

It appears that many people did not experience poor performance. We have very limited data on what types of machines were being used in these demos.

We don't know what kind of debugging, and profiling software ANet was using during these tests. We really don't know...much of anything factual really.

It's all speculation at this point. In large scale PvP we know latency will be a concern. It's a valid point, but this topic was much too inflammatory about it.

I'll go one step further and state that people sporting anything older than 1-2 generations should not be wasting people's time with previews and reviews.

If you want to seem at least semi-professional, get with the program. Don't show up to the race with your '86 Tercel.

not the case. Radeon HD 4K and GTX 2XX series was running this game great at all them alienware convention booths.

Lag is not always a client issue. Large scale battles are a serious challenge for the server and I am really curious how they will handle them. They are ambitious in this regard for sure but this does not mean that we should be apologetic if lagster will make its home in WvWvW.

The lag you're seeing is client side. There's no server lag in any video i've seen :)

Low framerates are ALWAYS client side.

Yup, absolute minimum in this game does look like the original guild wars though :)

Ahem no. If server cannot respond quickly your screen might freeze (or multiple times) hence low framerate. mkay?

Instanced, loading screen world should tell you all that youto know how GW2 will pan out.  Sorry but a game excatly like gw1 wit so called larger maps, is not my idea of fun.  Jumping from numbered zone to zone to find people, and porting everywhere , and watchign a loading screen evrywhere isbloody ridiculous in this day and age.  Fuuck me 10 years after wow was first developed, I am starting to think that was trully next gen.

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions yet one way or the other far as the lag goes. We'll see when things get ratcheted up whether that becomes an issue or not.

Everything I saw I was pretty impressed with.

Except for the pisspoor vo. That was the only thing in everything I saw that was simply laughable. Downright awful. Lacked any emotion. The inflection was off. No passion whatsoever. Would have made more sense if they had the avatars reading the index cards because that was exactly what it felt like.

...and frankly if that is my biggest complaint then that will be fine by me. Well, I'll still tear it to shreds but in the whole scheme of things what difference does it make?

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

So you think the press all left their families for the weekend and flew to ANET studios? What hotel do you think ANET put up all the press at?

This is nothing in comparison to what they plan and will be on release. Lots more of people.

I just hope that they will sort it out and we can enjoy the epic battles.
