The cash shop has had no affect on my future purchase of the game.
I've always known that the cash shop will contain some boosters, but knowing that Guild can earn superior boosters certainly puts that worry to rest. A lot of the time-saving items like the instant repair kit & loot bags are merely offset by various mechanics within the game (e.g. instant teleportation). And really all I can see myself spending cash on are the character slots. The other account stuff I'll just earn via trading Gold.
I agree with you but what worries me is that we have let the proverbial snow ball loose. Anet is monitoring things like this forum and when we say one thing is ok then $$ rack up in their heads. When do we stop and say that boosters, bags, and micorphones are not a good thing. <--examples I'm all for GW2, and am a huge fan. I just don't see this stopping and money is money, they will keep adding more and more items to the cash shop until we get a big fluffy WoW Cataclysm.

This is the worst forums to monitor as it is a cesspool of shit talking fanboism and nothing really is ever productive here. Any info given here by ANet to MMORPG.com is puresly promotional. Monitoring is done via fan sites who will be a whole crap load more objective than here and beta testers.

"Here’s our philosophy on microtransactions: We think players should have the opportunity to spend money on items that provide visual distinction and offer more ways to express themselves. They should also be able to spend money on account services and on time-saving convenience items. But it’s never OK for players to buy a game and not be able to enjoy what they paid for without additional purchases, and it’s never OK for players who spend money to have an unfair advantage over players who spend time."

President of ArenaNet
What is seen in the leaked shop reflects what their stance on MT is. If you too butthurt to see this then ohhh fucking well, go play your precious P2P MMOs who will prey every penny out of you and not even give you a lil pat on the back. People are perfecty content to spend 100x what a P2P MMO would cost you but rage all over a game that's B2P with a cosmetic/time efficiency cash shop.
People need to calm the fuck down and take off the NerdRage glasses. There is nothing P2W in the GW2 store, all of it is just time efficiency items and convinience. Everything can be purchased through ingame unlike DDO/LotRO which you are FORCED to by Turbine Points in order to unlock content, classes, races, ect ect. Earning this stuff in game is not feasable.

I guarantee everyone that says they still plan to play, and everyone that says they won't, are still going to try the game when it's released. There's nothing wrong with the cash shop, and from what I've seen, it shouldn't be any influence either to play the game or not.

I think the fussing and moaning over this has one good effect. It lets Anet know they had better be fairly careful with their cash shop. They know what worked with GW1 and they may try to push it a little further here. Which is a gamble and this outrage is a sample of what they'd be getting from paying customers in the future if they go over board.
I'd like to think they know that a cash shop done wrong could turn many players away. Their game looks very very good so far, and I think they've worked very hard on it. There seems to be a lot of love and creativity put into this game. I dont think Anet would want all that to go to waste for something as simple as an overdone cash shop.
This could be just wishful thinking on my part but I really hope not, but because no matter how worried or angry you are, you have to feel sorry for a lot of the devs, the artists, and the lore writers who have put their souls and heart into this thing and made the work of art its turning out to be. At least if a stupid cash shop ruined the game.

My point is when will they stop? How about a booster that level caps you for 10 gems or a hundred? I know that is extreme but the game will be too easy and no one will want to play. WoW is an example of just that, it has become to easy, blizzard has taken all the rpg out of it.

I do not realy care how they earn cash from the games but I realy dont like games that you feel you need to spend more than $10-15 per month for having fun in the game.

Anyone who has expressed any dissatisfaction with the cash shop in the game has been promptly "corrected" and shown the error of their ways.
If anything, this poll shows ANet that they have quite a bit more wiggle room to experiment

Your pulling a doomsayer, spassing out over a feature that was always stated as part of the game. They are not gonna turn into a Freemium store as just look at the GW1 store. GW2 has a flat leveling curve and with downsizing to the content I don't think a lvling boost would even be viable in the game. WvWvW can be done at any level, there is no rush to lvl cap in order ot get in raids for epic epeen lewt.
While not overly thtrilled with the magic item boost nor the loot bags (guessing based on the name it's items you receive or I'm mistaken and it's just an inventory bag) there is nothing there that has me worried nor any indication of any P2W approach.

Lemmings being led to the bright light without complaining! lol Kids don't see the big picture and just want the game to launch no questions askd. Ew, ew the cash shop is great, we have no complaints just give us the pretty new toy. Anet isn't dumb, the cash shop makes much more money than a subscription and it can be bent the way they need it to be bent to suit them. A sub is set in stone and they are not fooled by it.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
I don't really understand this question, there's nothing in the cash shop that you need to buy. Why can't you still enjoy the dynamic events and the WvWvW and all the other things without using the cash shop?
You can , but missinformed and pissed off at the world people are saying it s P2W. Theres nothing in there at all that takes away from someone who doesn t ever use the CS. I know I ll use it once in a blue moon or never, but I know I ll enjoy the hell out of the game.
One thing the apologists haven't figured out, is that Arena Net, just like all companies with cash shops, will not scale back items as time goes on. If this is what that start with, a year from now they will be selling much more and more powerful "convenience" items.

And since there are no subs to the game, the only metric for judging over time will be the sales from in the shop. And when those start to decline, they will need to compensate by putting more stuff in there to entice more purchases.
There is another dynamic most of you probably haven't seen yet....but you will.
When it has been determined that there is some lack or deficiency in the game. Something is out of balance, or whatever...Not necessarily a bug but something where the content is wrong, or the mechanics don't play out the way they should...whatever it is. These are issues that are generally at the Meta-Game level. I am talking about the ones that affect everyone.
Rather than fix the game and correct the content, They will take the lazy way out and implement a workaround solution and stick it in the cash shop.

Maybe true, maybe not. However, the main fact that you are forgetting is that this endangers their future sales of expansions. IF the cash shop becomes a 'necessity for play', the game will die a flaming horrible death.
I will buy the game for sure even though i don't like the way cash shop is designed. However, i will keep a close eye on how it effects the game and if i felt that it is going in direction where who has the most cash has the most fun in game, i will stop playing.
I don't take rash decisions so i will play and see how things go in a month or two.

That's incredibly false. The truth is that ArenaNet explicitly stated that they were not going to sell gameplay-affecting things through the store, yet now we can buy gold through the store.
Are you going to try to argue that buying gold is not a gameplay advantage?

No, sorry for confusion. I mean, that in these boards, there are people who will so strongly defend ANet's decisions, that anyone who expresses concern over the cash shop comes under question in some cases, but outright personal insults in others. The problem is that the defenses are often so full of emotion and anger that GW2 is being challenged.
I wasn't sure I would buy it before but I had nothing to be sceptical about, now I'm still undecided but the cash shop is something I don't like at all. I've experienced the hype prior to so many releases by now that it doesn't matter how good a game seems this far before release, I won't make up my mind to buy it until right before release and I'm very critical of all information released.
Whether you like the cash shop or not, don't to fall for the hype. Make a well thought out decision whether to buy or not based on what you know for sure about the game. MMO's marketing campaigns are starting to look more and more like those of bad Hollywood movies, if people keep falling for the hypetrain then it will keep happening.
Was gonna try it but now I wont. I support no cahs shops that offer anything other then 100% cosmetic items. I play wow, the only thing you can get there is a over priced mount which has no advantage what so ever.
Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships Waiting on: Ashes of Creation
So funny to see people acting like GW2 cash shop is a great idea.
I know, the same people bragging earlier in the year that it would be cosmetic only and how principled Anet was, are now basically saying that it is brilliant of them to charge $60 for the F2P Korean pay2win model. And yes, most of the Korean grinders only offer "convenience" items as well. Allows players to speed up the grind.
Soon the Korean F2P grinders will be advertising themsleves as true eSport PVP in the same mold as GW2. And they can advertise that their games are FREE while GW2 is charging you $60 for the right to play it LOL.
This is turning into one of the most disgraceful hypocritical moves in gaming history. "Oh, we have a manifesto. Nothing but cosmetic only items!" Adoring fans fooled and now punched in the gut with this last minute pay2win cash grab.
GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" 1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN 2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements

F@$* you! Your favorite game sucks.

NUH-UH... yours SUCKS
Said perfectly! I like what you posted here. And for those that say some of us are "butthurt" about the cash shop you are right. The more we are "ok" with things the more Anet will pour into the shop. Bags, boosters, and microphones are not cosmetic.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
No their time efficiency which they stated the MT store is not only cosmetic items.
My point is when will they stop? How about a booster that level caps you for 10 gems or a hundred? I know that is extreme but the game will be too easy and no one will want to play. WoW is an example of just that, it has become to easy, blizzard has taken all the rpg out of it.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
I do not realy care how they earn cash from the games but I realy dont like games that you feel you need to spend more than $10-15 per month for having fun in the game.
I don't know if I agree fully.
And those Solutions....they do start piling up.
I was planning on preordering, now I'm not even sure I'll be playing. Loot bags and Mystic keys have really put me on the fence.
Have you played the game then? He is just saying that people who disliked some things in the cash shop while playing were reprimanded. Atleast thats what I got out of it.

I am referring to this community.
So funny to see people acting like GW2 cash shop is a great idea.
Was gonna try it but now I wont. I support no cahs shops that offer anything other then 100% cosmetic items. I play wow, the only thing you can get there is a over priced mount which has no advantage what so ever.
Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships
Waiting on: Ashes of Creation
GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind"
1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN
2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements
