My system will be really more set up for music and gaming, but I want the ability to do some video and picture work too. Anyhow, this link to MS says that media center can only be purchased via a media center pc. Sounds crappy to me, but hey it's microsoft.
You can buy Windows Media eddion sperate I believe!! But if you use you windows XP home edtions CD you will need another activation key!! unless you have a pirated version! and yes the keys do cost! Last time I got one it was about $80! So it's not cheap either!!
and about the XPC!! Yes all of them have motherboard and psu built in!! No they don't have much power but they also don't have much room to add parts into so!! I acutally just ordered a the BioStar Ideq 200p!! I'm putting a AMD 64 3000, 1 gig of corsair XMS 400, and a ATI X800!!! So hopfully it the psu holds up!! I'v heard that they do great!! Espeacily since most are only 200-250watts

I finally got my heatsink, new Tornado fan [92mm is very loud] and another stick of uber RAM... I spent $175 for that stick... I first bought 512MB for $121... RAM has gone up to crazy prices.
And I turned my 5900 into a 5950U. I think that's pretty nice... my 2500+ can hit 3400+... so my PC is considered nice. I was playing UT2004 at 1600x1200 with x8 filters with max settings and getting 45FPS...
I'm not bitching. It's... nice. I can play almost any game with all setting to max... FarCry knowns how to KILL a system very well. Not untill the 6800 or XT800 the game runs well in higher res.

I forgot to say this will be another $400+ added to my already growing price.
So far my hardcore gaming machine cost me around $1050 USD. That's not bad if you see what the fastest PCs are going for. You also have to remember I didn't go cheap on my parts either.
I just read some funny s**t at motherboards.org. This guy didn't have any money to install a cooling fan when the fan broke on his graphics card. He's a poor a** college student, I've been there p, and this was his solution. Btw, it may not have been the best or easiest way to do it, but boy, does he have some balls to pull it off.

I have a 60GB HDD and I'm not even coming close to using it all up. I finally got 1GB of RAM and I'm very happy with it. Corsair XMS Extreme is NO joke for RAM... nor is the price.

This is what happened to me today while playing Pristontale. I was in game and all of a sudden my PC froze for about 30 seconds. I didn't mind it because it happened to me before. When I got back into Windows, this is what I seen. Someone hacked into my computer from outside my network and drew on my desktop... I think it's funny, but it shows me that my switch/router/hub isn't doing jack SH** to protect me.
Drool, but I can't drop $5000 to $8000 smackers just to play games. Maybe some of my family or friends will feel really generous at xmas or birthday though, lol. That or I'll finally get that uber contract from the military or government.
I might drop the money for one of the faster AMD Opetron chips though.
