I feel kind of responsible for where this thread turned, so I want to apologize to the OP. Didn't mean to derail your topic:(.
Eh... that's the problem w/ threads like these. They never end well.
I would like to see Anet streamline their Customer Service a bit more. I think it's definitely their weakest link. However, trying to report a company for a product that's not released yet is stupid on so many levels I don't care to elaborate. Now, if Anet made a claim that you were buying the game early, that would be an entirely different matter.
The ironic thing is their customer service is actually pretty good, but the way they have their site setup is soo goddamn confusing it's easy to get lost.
Customer service is reserved for customers. The OP is one. Period. BBB report will be taken seriously. I promise you that.
Again I love what Ive seen of GW2 and Im just stoked to play it some day, but his issue is valid. Ive not even bought the game and am not beta eligable. Do you guys want to rag on me now? This man has supported GW2. Be nice to him. Dont be scum bags. Wake up.
Now I don't know if you will read this "scumbag response", but anyway :
Are you sure you're not the one who have to wake up ? Do you really think the BBB has so few serious cases to treat that their priority has to be a login for a game not to work in 24h ? Are you really 30 year old ? Because calling people to join a national customer protection service for your 24h impatience is not what I call a mature stance.
Did you ever think about the fact that ANet is being overwhelmed by emails because it is a known web bug ? If you had, you will have realized that the problem could be either answered today, or even resolved, and that bombing BBB for this will make them lose some precious time on other more serious cases. You know, like feeling responsible for your acts, yadda yadda.
I'm sorry, but calling the BBB instead of just googling "GW2 login bug" and taking 2 minutes to search, it's a childish, entitled, unnecessary behaviour. You know what ? I had this login bug too. But I searched in this very forum you're posting to and on gw2guru, and found the solution. And the play button of my GW2 client is ready since yesterday evening.
+1 i offered my solution and the OP hasnt replied since.. dare 2 say he's working fine now
Seems like the OP is more intrested in ranting than a solution to his problem, shame as if he had stuck around I have a suspicion he might have found it in the replies here.

Hopefully support for this game will ramp up as it goes along. I have a feeling its not fully fleshed out because the game isn't out yet and they are putting resources into obviously developing the game and in that state customer service comes as an after thought. I have no doubt once the game is released they'd obviously ramp up the customer service base along with release. Thats natural.
For all we know its one or two people at a PC right now sorting through it as its not deemed to be much of an issue at the moment.
So my question to the OP is did you do this today if so on there support page they have limited support for wednesday and that might be why you got the normal auto response. I would say check tomorrow and if not have your wife call while you are at work unless she works as well to find out whats wrong. There phone support will help with account issues I know I had to call when my GW1 account got accsessed from somewhere else and they locked my account.
Also contacting the BBB with out waiting 24 hrs or more is kinda jumping the gun a little I could understand if you got no help with in say 5 or 6 days then doing it. But to be honest I never had a problem with Anet CS ever only a few other games like SOE once and then AOC 2 times and Cryptic so well and BLizzard but that would take way to long to explain why. So I would say give it till later today say around 9am PST when they get in there office and see all your tickets and see if they reply.

Fan or no fan is irrelevant to the real point of this thread.
But, I am sorrry as I didn't know word "fan" (didn't even say fanboi, or ment to ridicule anyone) is prohibited around here.
It's just to easy to (unintentionaly) ridicule people who like to walk around with their eyes closed and prefer to dwel on internet and live in a bubble, not realising how world works. Now if you're just young (and unexperienced) I appologize for being a bit harsh.
p.s. As a salesman, I wish I knew some of you guys irl. I'd so feast on your wallets.

Yeah, it's what's even more pissing me off with ranters : whenever you bring them a solution on a silver plate, not only they don't thank you most of the time, but they also don't want to recognize how wrong they were to go up in arms so quickly.

Sure, if everybody acts like you and chose the ANet email bombing solution instead of googling, they will have a hard time to answer them all. For christ's sake, just THINK, people, before you go up in arm.
I don't entirely disagree, but it might not be a bad idea to lead the OP in the right direction.
I had the same problem too. I remember posting on the forums in a state of frustration and impatience. I know where the OP is coming from. No matter how you dice it, it's not a great first impression by Anet. I don't think it's necessarily their fault, but I don't think people really care who's fault it is, they just want it fixed.
Leading the OP towards fixing his problem is probably the best thing you can do for this thread.

aesperus true on all counts, still I could have shown a little less venom.
@ core yeah that's basically all I was saying in my first few replies. I doubt they view CS staff as an important thing at this juncture, most companies don't either, I'm sure after release this type of thing won't be an issue.

I admit you have a point, ranting against a ranter is as unnecessary
But it's been monthes since the gaming industry is the scene of such knee jerk BBB complains for whatever possible reasons. People (children ?) have to realize that reporting to a national organism is not a toy.

did you by chance link it to your old GW1 account? if so, the GW1 account is your new GW2 account.
Also i had similiar problem, i tried to log inton to the forum from the website, it gave me same error, but then i used direct link that led to a forum post, for some reason it then allowed me to get into the forum, after acceptin the usual code of conduct(or whats its called)
Yeah, that happened to me. Worst part is, I had the @NCsoft tag. And now when I ask for password recovery the destination for that is @NCsoft...so yeah I can't recover my password if I forget it. Kind of funny, because they sent the Confirmation Email and the beta invite to my normal gmail account.
There's no confirmation e-mail, they don't exist yet. I have an @plaync account as well, my account works just fine without any validation e-mail even though it asked for it first. I could log into both the forums and the game itself.
As for why some people can't, I don't know. The process isn't really rocket science, so I doubt it's user error. There's probably still some quirks in the system, I'm sure. I understand people are excited for the beta weekend but it is still a beta, and still a fairly early one as well considering that bug list posted in the official forum (there's still quite a lot of things to work on). Stuff like this is precisely why everyone who's in the beta is necessary. A BBB report is laughable, even the BBB recommends you give the company several business days to respond and handle your inquirey. It's not like these people are at the beck and call of all the millions of e-mails they probably get a day.

You implied it was fandom driving responses. When it's really a case of the impatient vs the patient. That's all this really boils down to in the end.

Fair enough.
I think core is right as well. Unfortunately Anet is in a tough position atm.
They've successfully gotten a crap-ton of people interested in their game. Which is great. However, they have a bit of a more 'mature' stance on things than the average gamer. Or at least, they are more down to earth than most fans I've found. So, they are coming from a place of 'work hard, and give the fans what we can when it's ready'.
Fans are coming from a place of 'this better be damned good on every level'. So, while the developers think they are being nice by giving us an early play session with the game, some fans are looking for any excuse to bite the hand that feeds. Dealing with that & deadlines.. I'm so glad I'm not working on games atm. I do not miss that lvl of stress, not one bit.

on a side note was just looking at the bug list in the forums, it's good to see them recognizing the issues and actually fixing things as they go!
Let's just wait for the OP to answer if the solutions offered solved his problem.
I also got my GW1 account linked (though it's not an @ncsoft account) and had no problems logging in, I don't think I ever created a password for the GW2 account, after I linked the GW1 one the process just finished.
Granted, I had to guess that it would use the same password, but since the account was linked and asked no password, I kinda did the 1+1 thing.
Oh and btw, watching twitter might actually be more useful than e-mail, since I've seen plenty of solutions in there over these past days.
people who are telling the OP to suck it up are hypocrites plain and simple. as much as i love arenanet, all these login/password problems are absolutely not OK. if you were waiting for 4 yrs to play this game and then were suddenly not able to play it because of a login problem of all things, of course you would be pissed. if you are asking customers to pay for your game up front even before you set a release date, at the very least make sure they can at least get past the login screen. Yes, its a beta and yes there will be bugs, but the truth the matter is that when they made their game public and removed their NDA, they better have a product that is at least somewhat polished and playable, or else they will get terrible press and gw2 will fail even before it gets out of the warehouse.
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)
Reporting them to the BBB when the product is still in testing and has no release in sight at present? They probably aren't even staffed up yet in terms of support.
That's no excuse really. The moment they allow people to either purchase or prepurchase, is the moment they should have their costumer support ready.
Sure. if you live in a fantasy world as you appear to do. I won't bother explaining it to you as it would fall on deaf ears.
No Im sure you wont bother explaining anything. Sarcastic comment, then insult his intelligence. Meanwhile you have nothing to explain at all. NICE ONE!
Good job man. See? I can be sarcastic too! Isnt that easier than actually explaining yourself! Because the later actually takes a thought process.
Oh I wasn't being sarcastic, so I guess you've made a huge error in your judgement. Likewise, before you say someone is insulting anothers intelligence you should understand what exact that involes. Again, you missed the mark.
What else do you have for us tonight?
Are you going to actually say anything involving the actual issue and contributing to the thread? At all? See what you are doing is called trolling. You are trolling. Whether you meant to or not. As displayed above.
Now if you disagree with someone, give proper reasons. Like a person with intellect would actually do. I have no idea if you have any or not but currently you dont seem to be using it. Your smart *** mode is activated and its not helping jack.
Now go sleep well as you said you would, or contribute SOMETHING other than snide remarks at.....let me remind you....your fellow community of GW2 fans.
Slow down there little fella.
You've got yourself all worked up over a post about a guy, that you don't know, about an issue he has. that you can't solve, from a guy who replied, to a post from someone else, that you decided to jump in on, and now you're standing here with your ears and cheeks all red and puffy, face all smashed up against the window because your looking in from the outside.
Now if you come on in and slow down just a bit, I'm sure we can work out what ever is bothering you. If not, then stop trying to hijack this thread with all this nonsense.
aesperus true on all counts, still I could have shown a little less venom.

It's exactly what the core group of fans expected to happen. Most of the people making a fuss lately have a low post count. That's not necessarily a perfect indicator, but it hints that these are people whose interest in the game is more recent and driven by hype (and boredom with what's currently on the market), as opposed to people that have been interested in the game for years; people that know what to expect, are ready for all the quirks that come with a beta, and are in it for more than just having something new and shiny to play with.

in my opinion.. and mind that i stated my opinion, this is whats currently wrong and where the pressure comes from, posts like this... the self entitlement is strong in this one, i did have login issues... i didnt nerdrage my pc into a wall, i approached it calmly and took my own steps to resolve it, i didnt google anything, i didnt contact anyone.... i used logic and troubleshot my own problem. I'm no hypocrite, i'm reasonable and logical, i've been waiting just as long as the next guy and for all i knew i was going to miss the beta if i couldnt get it working and i miss tyria, i know what im missing and it's good...
web server issues do not reflect on the state of the game at all and should nor should anyone base a viable opinion of the game off a beta test because it's exactly that and arena net puts in a lot of work between betas having an old version of the client before upgrading and being able to see how many patches they roll out some days.
the fact of the matter is, solutions have been offered and i'm pretty sure the OP has retreated with his tail between his legs realising that his outrage was unfounded and if he did a slight bit of research instead of spewing out that arena net is the worst company in the world.. nay if he even bothered some basic trouble shooting steps he probably would have figured it out like he did, pretty sure if he can work out how to play an MMO he can work out how todo some basic troubleshooting...
ALSO this uhh this egotistical, entitled attitude serves no real purpose.. it doesnt help anyone, it doesnt get results. It just pisses off the patient and logical posters because you decided to rant an opinion which is unjust and overly subjective.

Eh.....probably right.
I guess with some panic sets in, frustration, and then anger in a very fast process. A good deal of the populace is used to buying a phone and it working and then going through the process just explained instantly. Then they expect immediate and decent customer service.
I dont know whether to feel bad for them or Anet. Because perhaps one does not understand mmos and how early this process is.
I have faith if the OP is persistent, his problem will be resolved, and if he reads solutions, some presented here it might all work out for him. I do honestly hope so.
I hate to say this, but perhaps Anet might want to make sure in the future that registering and getting into beta after prepurchase is easier or as easy as possible to avoid these sorts of frustrations. Its so early on though. I have no doubt in the future soon or later it will be just that. For now, like I said.....its pretty darn early for them.

the fact of the matter is, solutions have been offered and i'm pretty sure the OP has retreated with his tail between his legs realising that his outrage was unfounded and if he did a slight bit of research instead of spewing out that arena net is the worst company in the world.. nay if he even bothered some basic trouble shooting steps he probably would have figured it out like he did, pretty sure if he can work out how to play an MMO he can work out how todo some basic troubleshooting...
ALSO this uhh this egotistical, entitled attitude serves no real purpose.. it doesnt help anyone, it doesnt get results. It just pisses off the patient and logical posters because you decided to rant an opinion which is unjust and overly subjective.

i'm just sick of it man, call me a fanboi i dont care anymore, this generation of self entitled brats who clearly have no real world experience is disgusting and they are the future... well shit, i feel bad for my son that he is going to have these people leading countries...
i want it and i want it now and if it's not working and 100% perfect to my unreasonable standards then i'm gonna flame the hell out of everyone till i get my own way... it's so rediculous and sickening

Eh... that's the problem w/ threads like these.
At least thats my take on it.

So many affected people buzzing around lol

Are the GW2 forum up yet, guys?
Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language
in my opinion.. and mind that i stated my opinion, this is whats currently wrong and where the pressure comes from, posts like this... the self entitlement is strong in this one, i did have login issues... i didnt nerdrage my pc into a wall, i approached it calmly and took my own steps to resolve it, i didnt google anything, i didnt contact anyone.... i used logic and troubleshot my own problem. I'm no hypocrite, i'm reasonable and logical, i've been waiting just as long as the next guy and for all i knew i was going to miss the beta if i couldnt get it working and i miss tyria, i know what im missing and it's good...

Reason and Logic. Sir, a deadly combination if there ever was one.
