That is a quote from korea where the game is F2P as are most or all mmorpgs. I will ask again can you please give me a link to the "live" cash shop in the western market where I can purchase items for my character.
It's not even released yet in Europe - it hits the shops tomorrow. Do you really think the Koreans will leave out a feature that makes them earn more money? It's already discussed on the Tera europe forums.
Comparing the two games is like comparing apples and oranges anyway. Tera is an awful Asiatic grind while GW2 is a game bringing a totally new approach to the signification of levels and leveling (for this gamer generation at least). Tera is another poorly designed EQ/WoW clone with sub par quests and story, while GW2 is something that hasn't been seen on the MMORPG scene since over 10 years.
And yeah, I wish the Tera fans who don't plan to play GW2 would stick to the Tera forums, just like I stick to the GW2 forums. You're going to have a hard time finding a post of mine bashing Tera on their own forums, because I don't do it. Why waste my time annoying fans of a game I dislike?
Right so you can't provide me a link to the live cash shop in EU which btw if they did provide I wouldnt mind. What I do mind is that you made a claim and could not provide evidence. Instead you hyperbole onto something else. Tera has been live in the EU as headstart since Friday, the headstart was for anyone who pre-ordered the game and some extra codes were available from people with the collectors edition.
Quote "(for this gamer generation)"... Please don't think for one second you are a voice representing an entire generation. You are just one voice as is mine I have no credentials other than my opinion to claim my own.
The combat in Tera plays nothing like any of the mmo's you have quoted to me i.e EQ or WoW. I would stick to the Tera forums but I can't help but notice this thread is about Tera so yeh I will come here, don't quote my game if you don't want me here.
Finally I won't say anything about GW2 its not a live game nothing has been finalised and I did not play the Beta therefore I have nothing bad to say about it. I usually play games for a couple of months before I form an opinion, though most people judge something on a beta or a starter zone and then come to forums spouting crap.

Way to not have any insight about what you are talking about, the T-cat vendors have been removed from EU/US version, both EME and Frogster have confirmed Item Shops are not on the table right now.
TERA is a grind? Now you're just giving away that you have no knowledge about the game what so ever. Fair enough you like GW2 but come on, atleast try to stay factual when you want to debate the 2 games.
I have no gripes with GW2 at all, I am sure it will do what it does well, but hating over things that aren't even true, you're making the MMO community look bad.
Not that the amount of skills matters this much, the actual usage matters more. Still 6 spells at level 6 is innacurate.
You are correct, it was foolish of me to say "skill" and not "attack" when talking about PvP and depth.
Remove the non attack skills and skills that cant be used on players or how the laughable "backstep" which adds so much to Teras combat system that still has spells and missles that are locked on and following you...from the "depth" of the class.
I mean, we dont want to get into how backstep in the dramatically deep combat system that is Tera compares to the dodge skill in GW2 that say...actually leaves a trail of fire in my wake to cause damage to anyone trying to follow me now do we? Oh, and thats if im in my "fire" skill set. ice will leave a trail that will slow others down...shall I mention what the other 2 elemental sets do? The sets I can switch to or be in without you knowing about it until you engage me in combat?
There is NO DEPTH to Tera classes, its the same. You see a Sorc in Tera, you know what is coming...the same as the last Sorc.
He has no choices but the limited amount given to him.

You're trying too hard to discredit a tab-less targetting system game. It will certainly have less skills overall than a tab target system. This is only natural.
I haven't played either game to max level, thus I can't comment on how complex or simple they will be for me. I have the feeling you haven't either. In this case we're both talking academically, ie out of our asses.
TERA is a grind? Now you're just giving away that you have no knowledge about the game what so ever. Fair enough you like GW2 but come on, atleast try to stay factual when you want to debate the 2 games.
Almost every post and review I have read has descibed Tera as a grind. I have only played till 16 and I know the game gets more interesting after that so I can't count my own expereiences.
At best, most people say that the combat mechanics make the grind more fun. To say that Tera is not a grind is unrealistic.

SO instead you come into a "Versus" thread and bash Tera, its fans, and spread misinformation about both Tera and GW2. Good job.
I never did understand the "you can't compare apples and oranges" argument. They are both fruits right? I can compare and contrast them pretty well. Do they have to be identical to compare?

but u already biased toward the game u like? instead of "comparing" two games from objective views, u were bashing one game in order to make another seems superior.
it's like u are comparing apple to orange, but u dont like orange.

It is also only natrual that it loses its depth and complexity...which is the point of the argument.
Hey look, there is a "enter class here" what am I going to do?
Is the answer always the same?
In Tera, yes...his attack options are limited and thus so are the answers to beating him.
in GW2, you see a class yet still dont know what he is going to be able to do to you until you know not only what
weapon he is using, but in some cases, what stance he is using which greatly varies his attack options. Now you are in a REACTION situation which vastly increases the excitment level of the fight...no excitment in already knowing what your opponent can and cannot do to you as you can plan out the fight before it even starts.

In baseball when you are at bat, you have one "ability", swing. Yet they still say hitting a baseball is one of the hardest things to do in professional sports. Just pointing out that fewer options doesn't necessarily mean "watered down easy" anything.

from my exp.. it more like raping the guy that's alone while in groups.
if u want that exciting, nervous, unexpected pvp, tera offers u open world pvp. gankers always get u from the back, and the reaction in that situation will pump up ur andrenaline.

Even if I love Apples and hate oranges, I can still compare them is such a way as you you to say, "he may not like organes, but From the description, I would like them."

In football you have options...guess thats why Comedians like George Carlin made a ton of money calling Football a mans sport and baseball a game for something I cant say on the forums...lol.
It also does not translate to video games but, yeah...nice attempt to try to salvage anything respectful about PvP with no skill options.
One last thing...you must think FPS PvP is the greatest thing since sliced bread since it has even FEWER options than Tera!
Logic fail fails at logic
lack of variety = depth and difficulty

I love depth in games. But its important to point out that Complexity =/ Depth. It can contribute.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. What I said was "fewer options doesn't necessarily mean 'watered down easy' anything." That means that something with fewer options is not always easier than something with more options. I provided a single example of something that has very few options but it extremely difficult to do.
I made no mention of football and the difficulty level of football has nothing to do with the difficulty level of hitting a baseball. It is opinion that it does not translate well to video games. Many people would put FPS games up as the only level playing field where player skill is actually the determining factor (although I'm not very good at them and don't really like them).
Your condescending "Logic fail fails at logic" statement probably looked really clever when you typed it out, but next time I would make sure my logic was sound before attempting to pick apart someone else's. As previously mentioned, the intangible "depth" of a game does not directly correlate to complexity. A larger amount of skills would indeed be a more complex game. This does not necessarily mean more difficult in an enjoyable way that one would expect of a game.

i dunno about u, but i think CS 1.6 was the best pvp ever. it's solely base on player's skill. i dont need anything, just a deagle.

You have CHOSEN not to understand.
You made a poor example. The complexity of hitting a baseball does not relate in any way shape or form to pressing a button in a game which is all you are doing. Not ONLY that but you acted as if hitting a baseball can only be done ONE WAY.
I can raise my hands higher on my bat to shorten the swing.
I can bunt.
I can pull the ball.
I can purposfully hit high and deep to sacrifice fly and man on 3rd.
Hit to one side of the field to advance a runner...hell baseball has more options just standing at the plate than Tera does in its entirety.
what I CANNOT do whoever is MISS the skill in tera because afterall...the button on my keyboard is not a 90mph fasterball...derp. No really, pressing those few skill buttons, its just like the limited option of swinging and hitting a baseball. shoopdewooop!
And none of what I said means a THING in context.
In tera, if I am fighting a class, I already know how he is going to attack me with his limited options...and THAT is the reason you brought up baseball...actually staying in context makes it impossible to defend PvP combat...hell, you cant even do it going out of context...its too easy to rip it to pieces.
few attacks = few options = easy to figure out whats coming = fewer challenge = fewer edge of your seat unexpected things thrown at me = I am not getting anything out of this that I havent gotten out of a game before moments.
But its ok, if you like PvP that doesnt bring unexpected moments thats cool...I dont like bland.
It all comes down to what you know and what you want...the more you know, the more you want and expect.
I just have a higher standard in what I want in PvP, thats all...no need to hate just because I wouldnt pay a single $1 a month for bland PvP.

So you can modify your swing to make it a little bit different. If only you could modify your skills through some sort of glyphing system to make them behave a little bit differently.
No, you can not miss a skill (assuming your fingers are trained well enough to push the button). However, you can miss your opponent with the skill if you do not aim it properly.
Bringing this back around to the GW2 vs TERA aspect that the original post was highlighting, GW2 provides 5 weapon skills and 5 utility skills. You can swap weapons for an additional 5 skills. That means most characters have 15 skills available to them in combat. The elementalist (and I believe engineer) is a bit different with different attunements, but they don't get a weapon swap. This means they have 5 skills available to them per attunement, plus the 5 utility skills (healing and elite included here), for a total of 25 skills available during combat. Going by the skills listed for the Sorcerer on TERA's official website, there will be 26 total skills available at max level. I'm not seeing the huge difference in number of skills available during combat that would give one game so much more "depth" than the other.

u know what ur problem is? u dont wanna try tera, u refuse to learn it and play it.
the good player dont need all those fansy skills to take down another players.
street fighter/tekken/king of fighters.. they all base on how many hits combos can u make, but there's this pro player can pwn u just by down kick and throws.
u can have 100 skills, but what's a point if a guy only need 5 skills to beat u? u change to another 100 skills, so? if u dont learn the base fighting mechnics, u will always be a loser. and if u actually very good at the foundation, u dont need those 100 skills.
therefore it's always down to basic movement and reaction time. if u wanna play tab targeting game, go gw2, it's fun, but if u want real action combat, tera is top there.
dont even start with that animation lock.. this teach u dont just depend on spells, spam bottuns only makes u noob, use basic attack and learn how to move around.
Just incase there is any debates about combat and what not.
GW 2 is Tera with no animation locks and aiming via mouse
Tera has good lengthy anims
GW 2 simple anims nice visuals
Tera and GW 2 both action
GW 2 how ever is a hybrid
I'm not saying which one is better
Truth be told you can in fact play both without touching tab button like I did. I didn't touch the tab key at all while playing both.
If you like using tab target combat you can do so in GW 2. if you like auto attack you can if you wish do so in GW 2.
That's just being honest and to the point with facts.
Oh and Tera combat is not bad nor is GW 2 BOTH bring something new I assume far as combat.
Advice to haters toward either game, live life, both game can prosper both are action, both require skill.
Take care and enjoy yourselves.

If the amount of skills used in combat was an indication of combat quality, LOTRO would be the king in mmorpg combat. It feels like playing a piano when battling. Guess what, it doesn't work that way, at least not for me.
The main problem I have with all these posts is that it feels that the people bashing Tera have only played it for 20 mins or less.
This doesn't lead to a fair comparison. Currently I'm lvl 30 in Tera and made it to 11 in GW2. I can't emphasize enough that Tera doesn't really get fun until 20+ where BAMS, PvP and Dungeons start.
I know that's a game design flaw, but I urge all of you not to judge by the first 5 minutes of play.
Out of all these posts this one made me laugh almost. I played 3 betas of Tera and I have to say it was an ok game its not a great game infact the only thing I liked really alot was the scenery that game play and well everything was just like every mmo to come out over the last 8 years. Yes it had the same quest system of every mmo to come out sense wow. It has dungeons/instances you start to do at lvl 20 well lvl 10 if you count the island one which you can solo only this one. The game holds you hand from quest area to quest area bad in my opinion. Then theres this almighty combat system which alot of people including those who are claiming its the best have said is like console gaming. I like action combat in my console games not here not in this game is sucked it was fun but not great DCUO had better sorry they did it right.
As for the story line in Tera what each area had its own story there was no main story at all there was the basic storys in each area and gues what I was hand held through it. And you are even hand held to the dungeons to and through them sense there pretty much a follow a path dungeon no exploring in them just follow the path. On top of that anytime you have open world PvP its a gankfest by high lvl going to lower lvl areas and guess what killing noobs this happens in every open world PvP game out there to date. Yuo guys climing Tera is such a grand game ok to you it is to me its not its the same thing i am playing right now and thats EQ2 which to me plays better then Tera. I Liked it for what it is another normal mmo other then that its just that a normal mmo.

To bad that bit differently doesnt actually alter WHAT THE SKILL DOES.
There is no tactical change if a fire spell does 15 damage instead of 13. or 13 damage with a 4 DOT over 3 seconds. The tactic is the same.
That is where the flaw is. MORE TACTICS = more challenge.
Rock, Paper, scissors can be a challenge(haha)...that doesnt mean its hard because you may chose the wrong limited option nor does it place it at the challenge level of chess with far more options.
Now to your refute, if that is what it was supposed to be.
Using your sorc example. Your sorc has 25 skills, some of those skills like...mana recharge lol has no actuall effect outside of granting the use of...another skill. The dodge ability is limited and again has no real bearing on a persons tactical choices and in no way is different than circling an opponent in any other game with PvP, omg it makes it soooo challenging cause you can miss...and once again, all skills are the same on EVERY SINGLE SORC. No change. No need to change tactics from one Sorc to the next...its always the same. Always
Always the same.
A...L...W...A...Y...S
There is no chance he could be using a skill you are not expecting, he is coming at you with the SAME THING ALL THE TIME.
Second. You are WRONG about not swaping in GW2 PvP. You can swap skill sets, with a cooldown, giving you different sets of skills that are VASTLY different from one another and you dont know WHAT you will be facing until you are fighting.
You have no IDEA if that Elementalist is going to be using a set thats going to burn your face off, is using a set thats going to vastly slow you down making it hard to get to him and stay with him...or crowd controlling you with stuns with an earth skill set and worse yet, swap out to another at some point during the fight.
And OMG, the next elementalist you face my not use those skills and be a water elementalist! But wait, what KIND is he? Is he going to hit me with staff based skills or Trident? They are not the same and will require different tactics! But then again, he could be using a dagger and an offhand with yet...DIFFERENT skills than the other two!
Staff based skill = 5 with 4 different kinds making it actually 20 skills
now take those 20 skills and add each weapon type that have skills of their own. You can fight 10 elementalists and not one of them use the same spells against you and give you a fight nothing like the others.
Now factor in massive PvP battles. You have Tera's with 100 Sorcs running around all doing the same thing with the same few skills and then you have GW2 with 100 elementalists running around looking like an actual army of individuals all looking and effecting things DIFFERENTLY.
So again, derp style every class has the same skills no matter what, when and where and limited amount at that...
Or I have no idea what this guy is going to use against me style...
Hmm, choosing between a rock/paper cookie cutter approach to combat or...a stratego depth thanks to a sandbox style of allowing a player to choose at a moments notice the style of combat he wishes to imploy. There is no choice at all if you want a challenge.

I am sure SWTOR is loving the break.

Good job.
but u already biased toward the game u like? instead of "comparing" two games from objective views, u were bashing one game in order to make another seems superior.
it's like u are comparing apple to orange, but u dont like orange.
It is also only natrual that it loses its depth and complexity...which is the point of the argument.
Fewer skills = fewer attack options = watered down easy PvP

TERA Sorcerer Skills
u know what ur problem is? u dont wanna try tera, u refuse to learn it and play it.
the good player dont need all those fansy skills to take down another players.
street fighter/tekken/king of fighters.. they all base on how many hits combos can u make, but there's this pro player can pwn u just by down kick and throws.
u can have 100 skills, but what's a point if a guy only need 5 skills to beat u? u change to another 100 skills, so? if u dont learn the base fighting mechnics, u will always be a loser. and if u actually very good at the foundation, u dont need those 100 skills.
therefore it's always down to basic movement and reaction time. if u wanna play tab targeting game, go gw2, it's fun, but if u want real action combat, tera is top there.
dont even start with that animation lock.. this teach u dont just depend on spells, spam bottuns only makes u noob, use basic attack and learn how to move around.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
If the amount of skills used in combat was an indication of combat quality, LOTRO would be the king in mmorpg combat. It feels like playing a piano when battling. Guess what, it doesn't work that way, at least not for me.
