because this video was just posted in another thread a minute ago... it's fine you love the game but you need to realise most people on these forums stop taking people seriously and many will just block you when you consistantly come accross as a "super fanboy" of any game.
No more of your "opinions" Aerowyn put your vid where you mouth is.
you already posted one that shows what people are complaining about.. actually ANY video of TSW works just because you don't see what people have a problem with doesn't mean it's not there... me personally don't have that much of an issue and it's not game breaking for me but others it is.
Thanks for your input. Still looking for that comaprision video.
I like AOCs combat more than TSW''s. Does that make me a AOC fanboy? If so its a weird thing since I have not played the game in years.
AoCs combat is pure perfection when compared to TSWs. It should have been the opposite, but its not
it really isnt so much that the animations are bad, but people dont want it to look too realistic (which unfortinately isnt entirely captured in tsw either) , its not very flash, people want overboard FX, people want swords hitting something sound as if you just hit a leopard tank so hard it flew up in the air for 50 yards and was cut in half with light effects that would make Michael bay movies look boring.
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
I don't understand why anyone should even bother with posting a comparison vid when it's so ridiculously obvious that the OP is just going to trashtalk it anyway, and claim TSW's animations are better.
So i'm going to ask you this OP, where the fudge are you trying to go with this thread?
Moving around felt kinda clunky. And the whole waypoint thing...I don't need a game telling me how to play a game. Not gonna buy it.
I don't think there are waypoints...
pretty sure he meant the white direction "pointer"... which is a "waypoint"

I had only heard that the Animations and Combat in TSW needed work, so that first video just confirms it for me. It really does need some work , but I'm sure the game is fun. The skill decks sure sound interesting.
Thanks OP
Looking at your post history, it looks like GW2 is your game of choice. Would you mind post a comparision video?
your answer to every post in this thread is about a video. you either dont know other mmos other than TSW or you just trolling.
go to youtube and find a video comparison and get the reality for yourself my friend. After all the answers and links you keep asking for videos because you dont want to accept the reality. TSW is still in beta, just hope that at launch it gets the combat animations fixed

Then you haven't played.
I wonder if this a new BWE thing.
nope been in game since I started playing months ago

I played for 2 hours with an open mind and felt 'MEH!' about the whole game. The animations are not that impressive. I had the graphics turned up and the characters looked very chunky.
The combat - heck Tera is better and more fluid than this.
If you like the game - congrats on finding this game - for me it was an also ran.
Game has a really great concept, I really hope it works. It's really unlike anything currently on the market as far as story/setting/"leveling" is concerned.
but
The first time I jumped I started cracking up. It just looks silly. I was "shooting" zombies with my pistols and my normal attack was my character holding the guns straight up, my special was me holding them sideways "gangster" style. This also made me laugh. It's really sloppy when you're trying to fight and your back is turned to the enemy; you have to like wheel around to face them (annoying). I also like how I was standing still while zombies were swinging at me and just barely moving from the hits as my attacks kept going through without any interuption or delay.
All in all, it beat my expectations. I've heard nothing but bad things about this game. I can understand why, but I think it has a lot of potential. If the OP is serious and is praising the combat & animations... words don't come to mind.
That is a waypoint. There are various different types. Somtimes they have x's, sometimes they have large circles telling you where to go instead of small ones. But they almost always put a little marker in your main viewing screen telling you the exact distance and direction to your next objective.
I have done one quest that did not include waypoints up till this point and am almost completely don with Kingsmouth.
Which is fine with me. It doesn't take very much of a stretch for me to think the guy gave me directions before he sent me to kill some wierd looking beach monster.

Exactly! no WoW 2005 shooting over your shoulder stuff!

Yeah I uderstand those are there. It's not mortal online ffs
While I have played in the 1st Weekend, and liked very much the atmosphere and quests, to state that they have not good, but BEST animations and combat is ridiculous.
I am not someone that just reads your opening post and think "he might be right", I actually played it. Wake up!

Yeah ofcourse there are you single player games. As far as mmos I don't see any better. Did you look at the GW2 comparision?

I did GW2 transitions and overall basic animations look a lot better but I also have played both so it scews my perception a bit

You see the problem is what they did is really poorly decide how it's going to be animated.
Attacking moves your arms while moving moves your legs.
It looks completely unnatural.
Would you like to post a video of your favorite mmo to compare?
Look at any other MMO you can move and attack.
DCUO:
TERA:
GW2: Even the shitty theif video shows it:
I personally don't have a huge problem with the animations but if I do compare TSW to these games I can see a difference. In these games the motion seems to be more driven by the animation rather than the motion driving the animation. What I mean by this is, that in these games the character will blend to the left/right strafes before or simultaneously while they are moving. And, the blends are pretty quick. So the character is moving or appears to move in the direction that the animation was made for. In TSW, if I press left or right quickly, my character will be moving right or left for a noticable amount of time before he is actually playing the left or right strafe. The character blends way to slowly to those anims. Looks like he is sliding around.
The attacking anims I think look ok. They could of used some additive animations but that can be labor intensive w/o proper tools. Although additive animation have there own problems. Splitting the torso/arms off is fine for me, although it does look a bit stiff.

Thanks for the comparision. I will put this in the OP.

This is what the animations remind me of because it really works the same way.

I just picked the first thing I saw when I searched TERA combat.

Thanks, but Gamer posted a GW2 comparision video.

as in map markers. I get it. Yes there are map markers for some of your quests.
