well that happens cause all of the WvW fans gathered in a single server, also that server is from the 1st BWE against 2 new and low populated servers ..!
Erm Crystal Desert had crazy numbers in WvW last BWE. Not sure where you are getting this oh we are the low pop but skilled server.
Against Maguuma at some point CD had 15 guys just to escort one supply caravan while 100s of other people were taking keeps.
Yeah um you aren't out numbered.
Never said we were low pop, but in general Darkhaven has a large population.
Though CD's Pop seems to have risen quite dramatically since the first BWE, probably in part because we did so well in BWE1 and because TL attracts a lot of attention.
Which is my only concern as well come Launch Day.
Ascension may just decide to switch servers at that point though, because we would rather win with strategy over quantity.

In beta the servers don't really have the data yet to match balanced opponents yet. When your server gets matched up with a proper server your challenge will be there.
This +1
And i like it the way it is, even tho im in a not 100% pvp server like you are xD
Im from kaineng and i love my server and our commanders

I'm also fairly certain there were many free transfers to those winning servers which killed any fun by the end of the weekend. On Yak's Bend, we gave Darkhaven a good run Friday but by Sunday the population drop was very noticable. Having to beg guilds to come out and PvP is not fun.
This is all I need as well. If your talking Open World PvP take a look back in swg.........those were the days. People just aren't going to take Pre-cu SOE's ideas. This is the closest non-laggy Open world pvp you'll ever get close to, that can handle massive battles. WvWvW is fine with me even though i miss Open World PvP.
Looking at: The Repopulation Preordering: None Playing: Random Games
WvW is just a big battleground. Call it what you'd like.. that's all it is. Saying it should satisfy everyone is just ridiculous.
it should satisfy everyone, huge open worlds with objectives and tons of people to fight. its not just a big battleground, thats like saying DAOCs RVR was a big battleground because its a seperate area.
sorry but if you as a PVPer is not enthused by this concept you're full of crap when you say you don't want to gank and you enjoy fighting other players.
No, not actually. I really do like your whole, I'm right and can't be wrong attitude though.. .shows major amounts of sophistication.
I was simply stating that in the type of game that I like to play, I enjoy running into other players/factions while questing. I like random town battles in the open world at any level. Judging from your attitude here, I'm quite sure why you have such disdain for "ganking" or "griefing" as it more then likely happened often. I however, don't encourage that playstyle. I have found memories of large battles in Shadowbane, just fighting for a spawn point... of Tauren Mill in Warcraft just because the two sides felt like fighting. I enjoy the option of having true open world pvp and have never really had an issue with greifing.
But make no mistake about this my friend. When you sign up to go to an instanced area and are instantly turned to top level for a limited engagement. YOU ARE IN A BATTLEGROUND. You can call it whatever you like, and I'm not saying it won't be fun. But don't try to make it something it clearly isn't, and don't act like anyone who likes open world pvp is a "ganker". Whether it's 20 mins or two weeks, it's a battleground.

The few times we mounted much offense we would take a keep even though it would be like our 50 against CD's 70 and they were defending.
The only impressive part was the rapidity of response of the zerg. But generally they were winning with supuerior numbers and then only when they sandwhiched our 50 against two zergs of the 20 left after we killed their 70 and a new force of 70.

How good and common is the PvE questing in WvW? Is it designed so that PvE questors from the different factions but of similar levels quest in the same area with not too far distance between each other?
why would you go to the WvW area for PVE questing? again this is showing that PVPers don't want to be out there questing but want others to be out there questing so they can gank them.

That doesn't make any sense. How does level scaling relate to a BG? The first BG's existed in a game that had no scaling at all scaling for PvP in general is a fairly recent feature. In fact many games still have level based brackets for BG's.
You are just making up an association that has never existed. You get scaled EVERYWHERE in GW2. ALL PVE IS SCALED.
The only difference between WvW and the PvE zones is WvW scales up and PvE scales down.
Why bother? Didn't you know all gw2 players are mostly likely the ones you stomped in those games? This won't change. They are keyboard warriors, who come on forums to talk tough and yet lack any skills to back it up. My suggestion - stick to another game or practise sPvP with your clan. WvW is not what ANet is aiming for as an esport.
Care to have a match in any really challenging game that requires actual skill and tactics and not ganking/griefing bs like in Open PVP games so we can see who is the tough guy? "Oh games without Open PVP are for carebears, Open PVP is much more challenging" I'm sick of this ridiculous and utter crap line. So playing with an "unfair" advantage makes you tough? No it doesn't. Real challenge comes from real "fair" PVP where skill wins. IF you can't handle that stick with Open PVP games.
"Skill and tactics" = zerging.
At least in GW2 I didn't really participate in as much WvW on the BWEs, but I have seen several videos around where a large zerg was held back and even defeated by a much smaller group by smart use of siege weapons.
Heck, I've seen it done WITHOUT seige. Smart use of CC, Combo fields, and terrain can be a game-changer in GW2.
WvW is just a big battleground. Call it what you'd like.. that's all it is. Saying it should satisfy everyone is just ridiculous.

What they want is straight up anarchy. But that is an illusion anyway and they just won't allow themselve to realize it. In reality they want to exercise power over others while pretending its all something else.
They say they want freedom, but then they simply apply their own structure on to it anyway and won't accept that this happens.
The twisted and frankly weird or non-apropos arguments some people make are all in this vein. If people are not doing everything all at once with no restrictions then its not "open world".
All with the underlying implication that their method of playing no affect on things anyway. There is no real PvE in a FFA PvP game or PvP anywhere game. That is all bullshit.
The only reason I can see why some like open world PvP is that they like to gank low-level characters.
The litmus test for this would actually be a game like GW2 in one respect, the de-leveling, if de-deleveling worked to not only reduce your skills and stats but also deny access to higher-level things like weapon-switching and skills unlocked past the level of the zone. If this existed, and if people complained about it, then yes, they are interested in roflstomping those who don't have a chance to beat them.
In all of my time in MMO's the only fair fights I've seen have been in duels and instanced PvP. Every time I've been attacked in open-world PVP, either the attacker was so many levels higher I was 2-3 shotted and couldn't hurt them, it was at least 3 versus me, or I was attacked when coming out of a teleport and was half dead before my screen cleared.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man. -- George Bernard Shaw
Idk about you guys but in the pvp servers I played in, 90% of the fights was me being ganked by someone way higher level. 10% of the time I would either be ganking someone or someone who is close to mylevel tries t ogank me and fails.
And the only time Ive had a fighting chance? DCUO. We were able to kill a level 30ish when we 2 v 1'd him on our level 13's.
The only time we had an even match? Was when we grouped up together to make a team deathmatch style fight somewhere no one usually goes to. Which pretty much equates to an arena match.

Amen,
One of the best things about guild wars 2 bwe was the complete lack of jerks in PvE, they were some in WvW (mainly me mocking a really stupid commander) but that is a given in PvP to some degree. In PvE people were just natuarally nice to each other, even in WvW again except for me mocking the horrible tactical ability of the commanders (people that grinded for 5 gold to buy that title) they were very little jerks even in WvW.
Anyways, the more companies lead to block out those 1% that get some sick thrill out of attacking unprepared and under gear players the better the MMORPG gaming communities benefit.
humans can attack humans + other factions or faction war and over what?
ppl say that no open world pvp = carebare pvp
but one might counter with open world pvp = carebare pvp (zergs ftw)
open world pvp sucks... unless your playing eve online
late to the thread, but wow, even if they made a huge ioen world zone, there are no factions. I think it's safe to say GW2 will never hace Wpvp, not even a server pvp zone.
WvW is just a big battleground. Call it what you'd like.. that's all it is. Saying it should satisfy everyone is just ridiculous.

Because one of the "positive" aspects of Open PvP is that you have to constantly be alert and plan your efficient PvE-questing carefully. However, I do understand that far from everyone wants to feel that way.
This has been debated many times before and it wont change. This game will not feature ganking! Because lets face it 99% of the time when people talk about open world PvP they mean ganking or griefing. Plus this MMO does not want any form of elitist or competition between the inhabitants of the same server. So no.
Dang I'm mad I'm jset getting to this thread. This is the "carebear" attitude OP is talking about. Why do people take getting killed so personally, and get so mad?

I like open world pvp myself and do enjoy scaring players to death in the open world. However I don't have to have it as long as I get some kind of competitive pvp action, structured or WvW. I never really expected Anet to implement that kind of thing. Since the last GW didn't have it. I imagine it has a lot to do with the mechanics of the game and having DEs all over the place. You can imagine some people would kill people so they could not succeed in the event. It is the trade off I happily pay for open world PVE as apposed to raids.

Player vs Environment does not exclude that the same player is engaging in other activites simultaneously. For instance, several may be concerned with the auction house/market while fighting. Others may be concerned with having chit-chats while fighting. Then there are those who prefer to be thinking about where a player of unknown aligment may appear and what to do if a such one does appear.
