Are you the guy who said on ESO's chat that Wildstar would sell 10 million in 18 months?
That is correct, I predicted 2-3 million in PC sales, and then 3-4 million in console sales for ESO, not for Wildstar, I don't think Wildstar is a sub based game, it will be F2P very very quickly.
Never predicted wildstar numbers at all but I could possibly see it being a 1million + game as a F2P.
Any studio selling 1 million copy's in a few days or week is going to release that info as it gets reported as free advertisement and a milestone that this game is selling like delicious waffles.
Not making any statement of sold copy's after 6 or 7 weeks is an indication that it is not meeting its sales target or nothing to brag about.
We live in a simple world where if something is succesfull we wanne be part of it. Or at least are motivated to check it out. Specialy in the gameing industry where sales are the most importand thing a studio's works for.
They would be bragging about it if the sales were over 1 million. They disclosed the most useless and unmeaningful information of 5 millions registered beta user because they had nothing else to show and just wanted to make some "buzz".
This is more a theory, but I think they delayed Console's release because they will maybe change the economic model of the game. It's better for them if they already have the "final" model when the game releases on console, so people will directly buy the game, instead of just seeing it has a sub, and forget about it.

I think I agree on this. I was thinking that they should make it B2P for consoles and that way they would sale SHITLOADS of more boxes to many of the Skyrim fans tempted to see how ESO is.
It amazes me that you guys cannot accept that over 1.6 - 3.2 million sold, or even 1.2 like the OP states, and claim that no sales figures have been released but on the other hand also say that not even 1 million sold when the same facts that you base it upon are far more speculation then my theory and facts. That's just me though, I base my theories off of hard solid facts, unlike just saying not even a million sold because of bragging rights which seems far weaker then the hard solid data we do got on the game so far.

You game me their excitement about facebook likes as proof they've sold 1mil copies

You want me to quote your math ?
ENTIRE MARKET OF ESO:
2-3 million MMO playerse looking for a new game.
2.8 million PC ES fans who bought Skyrim.
17.2 million console ES fans who bought Skyrim.
The fact that 4.8 million Oblivion copies sold.
The fact that 4 million Morrowind copies sold.
X million of console MMO players (unknown since no MMORPG has came to them since Xbox and PS2)
X millions migrating to ESO from other gaems.
PLUS:
RETENTION RATE
How well the retention rate you think this company can sustain with its updates and content expansions. Also considering its retention rate with its Single Player base as their first MMO ever. MMO player retention + ES fan player base retention.
PLUS:
ADVERTISMENT
Amount of global advertisement. Will they run an advertisement campaign the size of WoW's with celebs, ect. world wide.
Originally posted by bcbully Since this article was made, over the course of 4 weeks ESO has sold another 60k hard copies.
So after first month its not even 1.5m sales, even if we take the optimistic side. My numbers are right then for the subs. Around 400-500k after free month is not even close to what they expected from a TESO IP.
Um, what are you expecting? It would be doubtful for any MMO to do as well as SWTOR did in their initial launch. The rough estimates for SWTOR were around 2.7mil copies sold and upwards of 500k subscribers. That is upper limit of how well an MMO can do these days.
Personally I didn't resub and recently uninstalled the game.

Do people say this to try to show their hate/anger toward a game or do most of the people on this site just have really small hard drives?
I think there's an implied "I canceled the sub, and don't intend to go back" to it.
As opposed to "just uninstalled for a month or two, due to reasons, but intend to go back".
Of course, reinstalling is a simple enough move, so it's not like uninstalling it means all that much in the big picture. But I think it's just a way of saying "not happy with the game and don't intend to renew my sub any time soon".
I don't think it even has to do with people showing "hate/anger" towards the game. That's typically just a strawman created by fans of the game who don't like seeing negative opinions expressed about "their game". Instead of acknowledging that "their game" simply doesn't appeal to everyone as it does to them, they decide to make it a personal matter, and begin spinning ridiculous arguments in an attempt to dismiss the opinion they don't like. Hence, someone saying they didn't enjoy the game is inevitably twisted around and dismissed as "some angry person just hating on the game".
It comes in other forms, too. Another common dismissive non-response is, "if you don't like this game, then you just don't like MMOs". Or, there's always the false challenge of "name me one game that's better than this" - which is nothing more than a hollow attempt by the fan to turn negative attention away from "their game", by bringing another game into the picture, which they can then tear down - as though doing so automatically makes their game better.
For example... someone says they don't think ESO is very good. A fan of the game takes offense to this and says, "If ESO is so bad, name me one game that's better". Someone says "I think FFXIV:ARR is far better". ESO fan then says "lol! That game sucks!" and then continues to rip ARR apart, accomplishing two things:
1. Taking the negative attention off "their game", (ESO in this case).
2. Convincing themselves that tearing down another game (ARR in this case), automatically makes their game (ESO) better.
The problem is, by and large, people in forums like these spend more time trying to dismiss others' views than they do actually addressing or discussing them. They're not interested in any kind of civil discussion, or even a friendly, spirited debate. They just want to be in an echo chamber, where every opinion they read reinforces, but never challenges, their own.
In fact, in response to the whole "are people angry/hateful" thing, you could just as easily ask fans if they really think people are hateful/angry just because they express a negative view/opinion/reaction toward ESO (or any other MMO), or if they're just incapable of accepting that others might not like the game as they do, that they're compelled to make such statements just to dismiss any opinion that doesn't echo their own.
Personally I didn't resub and recently uninstalled the game.

I agree. I think a lot of people did not expect the game to be half finished on the Skyrim side of things. It will get there eventunally but you have to keep in mind that Paul Sage promised us the ESO game as soon as a "working version" of the game was ready. I have no doubt a lot of those gamers will resub when all the guild features and other features that made Skyrim so great are added to the game. Not everyone will want to play a game that seems half finished to them.
Personally I didn't resub and recently uninstalled the game.

Maybe in some cases. However, many opinions/criticisms I've seen about the game have nothing to do with any of that. It kinda sounds like you're trying to "soften the blow" a little bit in your reply there. Like "Oh, they're gone.. but they're just waiting for specific features.. then they'll be back". Short of people specifically saying that's the case, it's not really a safe assumption to make.
And anyway... merely implementing those things is only part of it. They have to be implemented well (to the satisfaction of a given individual playing the game). After all, systems that Zeni promoted for ESO is what brought people to the game in the first place. For those leaving, they (Zeni) didn't do a good enough job of implementing those systems.
Personally I didn't resub and recently uninstalled the game.

Well, it's one worse, isn't it? It's not just quitting. You see, most blokes, you know, will be just quitting. You're playing the game then you get mad...all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, then you quit. Where can you go from there? Where? Nowhere. Exactly. The quests don't demand much out of you other than killing monsters, grabbing items or talking to NPC's. The current lack of Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild quests really hurts the game; at least those two organizations demand some stealth and strategy from players. Right now, all players have to do is slaughter a lot of enemies and pick up whatever they drop.

I would agree with this to an extent, but only with the caveat that this statement applies to, literally, every other MMO on the market. Apart from WoW, or other mature MMOs, the quests are not varied much at all.
That said, stealth is still an important element. I'm working 3-5 levels ahead of myself and I'm a tank class w/ lower damage output, so if I come across a group with two decent healers I usually lose the battle of attrition. So sneaking around these mobs is usually a safer strategy. Unless, of course, I've got to actually kill them
Kill, collect, kill/collect, talk to people, yup that pretty much sums it up, for now anyway. There are, arguably, escorts which would complete the circle, but the escort missions are shallow. I don't think I've ever felt like the person I'm escorting is in danger (and they may not be).

Oh lordy.
Knotwood I don't mean to be rude but ...honestly. I don't think any prediction you have made can be even remotely considered a hard solid fact. Guestimate is all you have done, and to be fair it's all anyone else has done because Zenimax refuse to release sales/sub data. Yes I know they don't have to, but you surely must see how it looks when they (and you) boasted about the massive beta interest, and yet have remained completely silent on the sales/sub numbers? You surely can't be so blinded by fanboyism to see how this silence looks to an outsider.
Breaking down this 300,000 physical sales count, more than half or 170,000 was sold in North America, a third or 100,000 was sold in Europe with the remaining sold in other countries.
Then we need to add the digital sales, which could be as much as triple the physical sales.
Applying this ratio to Elder Scrolls Online, the game could have sold 1.2 million copies for both digital and physical sales for the PC/Mac platform in the first two weeks. Digital sales will include the digital Standard Edition and digital Imperial Edition which are sold on the official website, Steam and other online distributors. That’s a great number that makes it a contender for the most popular MMORPG release this year.
And remember only the Elder Scrolls Online for PC/Mac has been release. The game will likely see another huge spike in sales in the summer months when the console versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One come out on June 30. With the end of school and summer vacation and players who may have held back on purchasing the game or have been waiting for the console versions will be grabbing a copy.
Topping Western charts
Elder Scrolls Online has sold well in the Western regions like United States and Europe.
VGChartz said Elder Scrolls Online was top-selling game in the United States at retail stores during its launch week, with sales more than double the number 2 contender, Titanfall. The MMORPG was also the top-selling game in Europe at retail stores in the same week, clinching number 1 in the biggest gaming markets of United Kingdom, Germany and France.
Looking deeper into the United Kingdom sales, the Elder Scrolls Online debuted at the number 1 spot of the individual formats chart tracked by UKIE, the country’s official agency for interactive games. It’s an impressive feat for a PC/Mac title, beating stiff competition from console releases like Titanfall and inFamous: Second Son.
Elder Scrolls Online also came in second in the all formats chart, just behind juggernaut soccer sports title FIFA 14, but ahead of popular shooters Call of Duty: Ghosts and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.
A whole lot of specultaion.
Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing. PS3
Beats the speculative threads we had before which were just "no announcement so TESO is doing really poorly". They had no data and they come up with a pronouncement on sales, now that's what I call speculation!
Personally I didn't resub and recently uninstalled the game.

At least you gave a quick sarcastic response. Wasn't going to bother replying to that guy that types out essays trying to explain to people why they are wrong about everything.
It was a joke. I completely understand many posters feel the need to give status updates and announce their displeasure with things. It is liberating in a sense. I do the same thing, just not here. I'm addicted to overpriced coffee and send angry customer comments on Star Buck's site every time I throw away my empty $6 cup. I want them to know they are greedy bastards and I don't need that cup anymore....that empty cup sitting on my desk reminding me of the joy I once had.....reminding me how much I hate what they've done to me.
I just wanted to shoot the breeze with the rest of you. Honestly, it's too early to tell how the game is doing financially or in keeping its players happy. Maybe by August we will know something.

7 months from launch. Buuuuuuuuuut, that just happens to be slated console release so it might be skewed if they decide to get a bit creative with numbers ;P

Haha this is what I think of every time I see a thread on ESO population/sub numbers.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
Yet not a peep from Zenimax when they were shouting about their 5 million beta testers. Yes totally credible.

Has anyone thought of term "Damage control"
It sure crossed my mind. A lot ;P
A whole lot of specultaion.
Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

*PRRRRuuuuuuuuuttttt*
*Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuoooop*

I just wanted to shoot the breeze with the rest of you. Honestly, it's too early to tell how the game is doing financially or in keeping its players happy. Maybe by August we will know something.
7 months from launch. Buuuuuuuuuut, that just happens to be slated console release so it might be skewed if they decide to get a bit creative with numbers ;P
