You are aware that I don't raid. I do NOT do coils. And if your grinding for end game gear in this game, you're doing something wrong.

Way wrong. I got my gear in under 2 weeks. Casually playing. Hello, Chocobo Racing and Triple Triad. I think we have more than just "Raiding and grinding for end game gear". I'm still doing Hildabrand and leveling characters for the stories. Beasttribes, GS, Hildabrand, Animus, etc.

    So much to do.

I bet you were one of those guy's who power levels to 50 and skips everything.

I recall that during the game's launch. People were skipping EVERYTHING and power grinding FATES non stop to 50. Then they complained about how bad it was to level. Completely discounting the fact that they had so many options the whole time and that what they chose was the most boring one.

Look, I really do like this game....but let's not kid ourselves.  There IS a ton of options for getting gear, such as zodiac quests, coil, primals, etc.  That does NOT change the fact that the only progression is new shiny gear though, OR the fact that anything besides coil drops are worthless in comparison.  Dress it up however you want, but it IS a raid or die game.

With the expansions announcement we now know that they also do NOT plan to add anything more than new gear with every patch/expansion in terms of progression.  Yes the level cap will increase, but it won't change once you hit the new cap.

Nah it's not a raid or die game. Not by a long shot. I don't raid or do dungeons. Ive barely even done any combat for well over a year. My character has been progressing nicely and I have more content than I can finish. I log in for a couple hours a day and more on the weekends. I have to schedule which non combat activities I want to do because there are so many that I have to go in with a plan or I get distracted lol.

You're absolutely right.  I tried to balance getting geared and non-combat activities when I logged in before I quit too, and that was BEFORE golden saucer lol.

My point was only made in regards to PvE content, nothing else.

In fact I think I'll be re-subbing because my wife used to play and when I quit she did but she wants to play again, happy wife happy life eh? lol

Point being, it is a gear treadmill (to put it simply) once you reach endgame.  It's not terrible, by any means, as the content is fun...but it does get old after a while knowing you're going to be doing the same kind of thing.  ANY form of horizontal progression would be most welcome.

Also something worth mentioning. Crafted gear is currently the best gear you can get and has been that way for the past three patches. Get to work! ;)

    I don't follow something.

How is the game "Raid or die" but "only in regards to PVE content nothing else"? when there are other options.

You are isolating a certain aspect of the game from other aspects then saying that within that aspect, it's "Raid or Die" and labeling the entire game according to that one piece. But there are so many others.

Yeah, i was wondering the same thing.  I've never even raided in this game.  I don't even cap out my tokens every week.  There's so much to do besides just getting top gear.  You don't even need top gear to do the majority of things in this game.  For the most part within the last month, i didnt even touch a combat class except for farming stuff for crafting.  It's definitely not a raid or die game unless that's all you go for.

This game is NOT raid or die.

I do NOT do coils at all and I have great gear. I'm currently Ilevel 115. And did I mention I dont raid ? AT ALL .

The way we get end game gear will be the same. Dont fix what aint broke. The new level cap brings more job stories and skills and so much more.

If you consider the game 'Raid or die", then your doing the game all wrong. People CHOOSE to raid. We are not forced by any means. When i'm done getting my poetics gear I'll be Ilevel 130 in no time. Barring the weekly Carbontwine and Carboncoats.

EDIT : whats pretty cool is you can GREED on things in dungeons and such and get fantastic gear for other classes. My Palidan went from ilvl 46 to ilvl 107 in 2 seconds. I have all soldiery gear for monk, BRD, NIN, etc.....

    It's not hard.

Progression.  Sure, you can never raid, but you'll never progress beyond  a pretty low standard either.

What game are or were you playing ? I am far from below standard in terms of gear.

Again, what game are you or were you playing ? Obviously no FF XIV ARR
