I do not hate Star Citizen.  My concern is that people have given a lot of money and support to them, and I hope they aren't getting fleeced.  I know that stupid is as stupid does and if you're foolish enough to spend hundreds of dollars on a game isn't even out, you deserve to get got.  However, people get excited and want to support and sometimes don't always do the smart thing.

In most cases, people bought a 79.99 delux early access and ended up losing it.  In this case, people have spent significant amounts of money, and I wouldn't want them to lose it as an object lesson.

My hope it pans out for those people.  For those who lost the 79.99.... You deserve it, learn your lesson! ;)
yea should think the most HC fans never experienced big MMO projects that got cancelled before, as they seem to completely refuse the possibility of it happening.

its an otherwise very long list by now.

    1. what I am calling hate appears to actually be a rather small minority and overall this game is not 'hated' as it were.

    2. very ironically my intrest in the game which was had been shelved more than a year ago has been resparked and the re-spark began with me seeing a youtube front page about the escapest article. Last night I had watched a lot of videos and it looks to me like SC has made a lot of good progress lately.     @SEANMCAD ;
Just keep an open mind, and enjoy the experience, the good and the bad. Some of the bad is really funny! Animation issues, etc. Some of the good is just mind blowing. I saw the post that Erillion posted with the Conny landing. I had no clue the level of detail on the dust effects during landing. Its the little things like this that really get me excited and want to see more.

Over the time frame of the first quarter of 2016 we should expect to see leaps and bounds of progress similar to what you are now identifying.

I think that is exactly right.

I think the past couple of years its been just getting the framework down, peoples offices oganized, workflow just right etc. all behind the scenes its looking like 2016 will be high output. I am offically a follower now. I followed for a little bit a few years ago but I had decided to wait.

    ironcially...thanks escapist

Another well written article about SC and the community.

Everyone isn't scared of CR it seems.

There are also a few FB write up about SC. But then again everyone lies except CR it seems, right?

Surprise surprise the comments for that article are about 95% filled with posts about it being click bait or a drama article or whatever else the fans use to discredit negative press.

Best part is how the author says they have barely made 5 dollars in 6 months from these articles clicks and yet the first comment is about being click bait.

Funny how the respondees virtually prove what's written about the fans in the article and fail to see that if anyone is causing drama it is them with their overly dramatic, vitriolic responses.
Im sorry, it's a two way street, do you think maybe if people based what they have to say on what actually is happening with the game instead of on, rumours, ifs, buts, mis and old information, maybe you won't get all this drama? If the press actually talked about the APLHA, instead of making articles targeting the fans, CR and company, maybe, just maybe you won't get overly "dramatic, vitriolic responses"?

You guys are expecting people to sit back  take insults, allow rumours to spread, but if they speak up or call BS,  they're being dramatic?

Anyway the solutions is simple, stop making overly dramatic arguments based on small things and mis-information and you won't get over dramatic responses.

Then maybe we might actually be able to have a drama free debate on things.

    Just saying.

I think in all seriousness, the controversies just engages people to look into the game which is a good thing for SC. Perhaps all of it is designed by CR.

Think your right, at the end of the day those who really want understand will do their own research (which I'm glad many gamers still do), so what ever goals some people may have it's not working.

I am not convinced its overly popular. I just think when people got caught up in it 2 or 3 or however many years ago they went all in ape shit crazy. Now theyre basically forced to defend it and hope and pray it comes out. The ones that are still crazy for it are still literally crazy for it and continue to spend money and buy stuff that doesnt exist yet.

The IDEA might be semi popular to some but how can something that doesnt even exist be popular? Especially when a majority of the stuff (known ) is not positive? The best thing you can say about the game so far is it has 'raised' 100 million bucks. Now some can spin that into a negative I suppose but its positive at least for the guys who have (whats left of) the money now.

No real disagreement from me. I'm just laughing at the irony of the defenders crowing about the drama while also adding to it.
At the same time it takes a miniscule amount of criticism for the defence force to get mobilised, you would think these people have never used the internet before or have skin an atom thick.

14 accounts in Switzerland, 12 in the Caymans and numerous shell companies. I believe Ortwin Frothymouth previously worked for the Scilican Mafia as a money launderer and was a bunga bunga girl for Silvio Berlusconi, or so the story goes.

Some, none or all of the above may or may not be true.

His third man is a big time lawyer/accountant so you can bet they have all the money angles covered.
What is really sad is his brother is the other guy yet he was not in a position of authority from day 1,only after they got rid of that other guy did he promote his brother.

What the three of them also did was create a bunch of shares out of thin air, then took those FREE shares and sold them back to the business LMAO.That is like writing your own blank check with other people's money and to me it looks like stealing from the business, the people's money.

You mean like promoting your untalented actress wife to a high profile job, or to move your office to a state where you can pay yourself double of the money and can hang out with your Hollywood friends. Or to buy just the best of the best furniture for your office nevermind the cost.

The development is progressing at a steady pace.

The extremely vocal haters and provocateurs on these boards just don't bother to check on the game's progress which is displayed with almost full disclosure on SC's website on a weekly basis. After all, why have the details spoil a good story ? Instead they prefer to elaborate with unfounded BS like "look at the footage, they spend the money on expensive furniture and espresso machines".

You'e assuming that feelings about CIG should be about nothing other than how the game is coming along. Some people just dislike their business model. Is that not OK with you?

so the following questions come to mind

    1. why, even after considerable time, none of the other gaming journalism sites talking about this story in a way that validates Escapists claims? As Escapist has written it, its a huge story and yet nobody is touching it. why?

    2. typically when sources want to be anonymous the REASONS why they want to be anonymous are given. what are the reasons here? why would someone post a strongly inflammatory comment on Glassdoor if they were afraid blowback from the employers?

]3. usually when somoene experiences illegal hiring practices the very next step is to call a lawyer and start working on a case. This is in part why its called 'illegal' and its also why its extremely uncommon for members of HR department in any company to write an email with alleged statements.. So...where is that lawsuit?

    4. are you still suggesting that the comments made where actually never made? that 'age discrimination' is not even part of the story? where did your stance change?
    I have one for you...

    1. If the Escapist article was false and not based on any real interviews or real evidence then why did Cloud Imperium NOT follow through on their threat of legal action when the Escapist refused their terms?  You cant say they did not care because they cared enough to make the threat and give the Escapist an ultimatum.

    HA!

Maybe because they dont have a case?
kinda like the former employees dont have a case for illegal firing? didnt exactly think that one thru all the way it appears.

So if you and 7 or so people wanted to go to the press about illegal hiring processes (but for reasons we dont know NOT file a lawsuit which is why the laws where written in the first place) is The Escapists really the news outlet you would go to for this story? really? not Polygon maybe..its kinda a big deal

Yeah there's lots of depressing shit in the world. I'm sure even vacuum cleaners have their own scandals... but I'm not a vacuum cleaner hobbyist. I tend to pay more attention to the things that matter to me.

You can ignore sleaze in game development if you wish - it's your right to do so. But some of us don't like disturbing trends in P2W, gouging whales, over-focusing on raising money, etc.

Not that I blame fans of the game for pulling an ostrich and ignoring the many faults. Who wants to be brought down from their happy little fantasy place?

Morally inconsistent would be caring about one and not the other: I care about both... whereas the fans of this game seem to have blind spots.
