I'm outta this one. This guy (SEAN) is just screwing around twisting the actual facts and using broad generalizations to defend CIG while hiding behind his supposed neutral stance. Thats the best one yet. Releasable state good one. I have bothered to watch 30-45 minutes of Twitch streams (and restreams of the CR fiasco) and seen nothing that would say this thing is more than a demo kit right now. It was 'released' to calm the nerves and fight the "there isnt even a game'' claims that were going around.
CR was absolutely nothing until Oct or there abouts. Nothing updated nothing really said (other than what the guys who are monetarily invested WANTED to see). Then suddenly a bunch of negative press that had tremendous legs comes out, and its a shitstorm for CIG/CR. So within a month you have the demo pack come out (you guys can call it Alpha but youd be wrong) and that was TOTALLY unplayable. Then you had a few fancy videos and then an "Alpha 2.0 update". Which made the thing less unplayable.
This last 2 months or so follows the conman handbook for trying to distract and deflect. The ORIGINAL release date for this game was 12 months or so ago. That was also when they said they only needed 2-3 million to do that. Where they ALSO said that the more money they raised wouldnt effect release date. Now we all know that ship sailed along time ago. But even if they did change their 'vision' dont you think they would have had something better than they released as an ALPHA in the can somewhere? Even BEFORE they tried to get funded? If you asked me what they released WAS what they had (with improvements needed to make it semi presentable which still failed).
So what you call a 'releasable state' game is a demo they have probably had for 3 years that they FINALLY made public and called an alpha.

The Wing commander movies have been complete financial disasters just like every other project he tried as movie producer. I think he was pretty much broke before he decided he needs to make a new Wing Commander game, but that is purely my opinion based on how bad his Hollywood "career" was going.
He did not get real investors for his Wing Commander remake because he is known in the industry as someone that is incompetent to handle large projects. That's why he went to Kickstarter.

1. Yeah, all of his movie projects pretty much bombed. I guess you could say "Lucky number slevin" was not a complete failure but $22 million gross is not exactly good. I am sure he was not bankrupt but also not as some people suggest: a millionaire. 2. I never said he had money problems. It was my opinion based on the fact that someone that has not done too well in 20 years and lived a very elaborate Hollywood live might have some financial issues.
added: He supposedly moved into a very expensive home in one of the best Hollywood neighborhoods shortly after the Kickstarter money came through. Also his ex wife SAndi suddenly came back after he was flush with money after she left him (that's not weird at all, or is it?). The Wing commander movies have been complete financial disasters just like every other project he tried as movie producer. I think he was pretty much broke before he decided he needs to make a new Wing Commander game, but that is purely my opinion based on how bad his Hollywood "career" was going.
He did not get real investors for his Wing Commander remake because he is known in the industry as someone that is incompetent to handle large projects. That's why he went to Kickstarter.

2. How do you know he had money problems before? any evidence of that? I am not saying he didnt he very well may have but if you can provide some solid evidence to that then you guys have a VERY strong case.
added: keep in mind (I hate to point out the obvious but i bet I do) the success or failure of a product does NOT mean an employee or CEO of said product did poorely. In fact in many cases a failed project turns into TONS of money for a CEO so what we will need here is something more personal to his bottom line. was he living in a shack before SC for example

2. I never said he had money problems. It was my opinion based on the fact that someone that has not done too well in 20 years and lived a very elaborate Hollywood live might have some financial issues.
added: He supposedly moved into a very expensive home in one of the best Hollywood neighborhoods shortly after the Kickstarter money came through. Also his ex wife SAndi suddenly came back after he was flush with money after she left him (that's not weird at all, or is it?). I don't know if that is true or where he lived before that but that's what i heard.
It's all speculation, but i like to speculate, what else do we have to talk about? Virtual Spaceships that no one can fly and some half assed and buggy Alpha.
