Lineage population is in Asia, gaming in asia is completly different then the US. Then your using Ultima Online, the very first MMO basicly ever created.
And from what i have heard once the pvp in OU was put in, mostly everyone left.
Look at mmorpgchart.com and you'll see lineage and lineage 2 is on it's way down.

Not really agreeing or disagreeing with you here. I'm not following this post at all as I see a comparison between the two games to be pointless. They are different, nothing more.

I played Ultima Online a long time ago... roughly '97 to '99. It was always open PvP with towns being the only exception (though still possibly with effective use of exploding potions or fooling players into flagging themselves as a criminal). The success of that game was that you could do anything... they didn't really hold you back much and PvP was no exception. At that time, open PvP is all I knew. I had no idea that any game would restrict it, it never even crossed my mind.
Having said that, I love PvP but FFA is not my thing anymore. I like RvR or the Border Kingdoms idea Age of Conan are going with.

Does it matter if its in asia or not? ofcourse Lineage and Lineage 2 dropped, games like RFO and WoW hurted the game hard. UO was not the first mmo created, and people didn't leave after PVP was put in, because it was there from the beginning.
even if L1 and L2's population is dropping, they are now set at 1.5 - 2 million million subscribers each. which is still a lot more then most PVE games.
i dunno, i have been following AoC for some time now and am very much looking forward to it. but the more i learn about warhammer the more i like it, for me its hard to tell witch one will be better at this point....but if i had to pick one....at this point in time i think i have to go with warhammer.
i like the fact that warhammer is basically being built around pvp and it has a pvp system that i know will be good.
AoC on the other hand does seem to have good pvp and a different approach to combat, it just doesn't seem to be focused as much around pvp even though i know it will have pvp and probably be really fun.
either way i will be trying both games out and there lies the true test, and hopefully neither AoC or warhammer will disappoint me.
Each game will just take a different path to provide that to the end user. One game will be magical and have cartoon type graphics while the other won't have elves and other fantasy style characters and will be more based around realistic graphics.
I'm thinking AoC will be a hell of a lot bloodier in PvP and a lot harder since it will be skilled based a lot on how you swing you sword, etc... while WAR will be just pushing a few buttons when they light up in the correct order against a certain type of foe to do the most damage.
Different folks, different strokes. I'm going for AoC and backing it 100% with buying it.
I'm a Warhammer fan since 1988, but I'm more attracted by AoC. I will try both. Besides, I'm gonna take part in WAR's translation into Spanish, so I'll play it for sure.
I'm quite impressed by AoC's promising looks, and that combat system... oh yesss
In my opinion, Age of Conan won't offer that huge community feel to it. It looks more like a soloers game. It has that old Elder Scrolls Morrowind feel to it, from what I've seen from the gameplay videos. It definitely has that abandoned feel to it, which isn't something I particullarly want in my MMO. I don't think the PvP will be as promising as most of you are seeing it. I also cringed when I saw the way your avatar will walk, and the graphics look like plastic, which isn't appealing whatsoever. I definitely think AoC is definitely being overhyped, and WAR will prevail, but this is just my oppinion. Both are still in their development, but I think you guys won't be finding what you hoped AoC to be. When release comes out for both, or even beta, we'll be seeing many gameplay videos from a player's perspective, and then I think we all can observe and judge what both games will offer. WAR seems to be WoW without the badstuff in it, while AoC seems to be a shady Elder Scrolls image. Glad to join in on this AoC vs WAR debate btw, since both of these games seem to be the top 2 upcomming MMOs with the highest chance to blow WoW away.

So you're making this game right? Or are you testing it as we speak? Right now it just sounds like a bias attack on something because you like Warhammer better.
Untill both games are actually out, and a few months have passed, then we can actually talk and say it wasn't that good, etc. RIght now it's all rumors, if that.
Can you take a step back and actually compare the two without being biased towards one or another? I doubt it.

It may look like oblivion but if you've read a great deal about AoC you'll know the soloing life will be difficult, even the devs have said it. ie. guilds have benefits of using their prestige classes to benefit all their players, not only this but guilds in AoC will be the driving force for supplying gear/mounts since all crafted items will be 'better' than dropped loot of the same level/tier/quality. I think given time AoC mass pvp will work out to the extent that there will always be constant pvp since guilds will inevitably come to rival/hate eachother (like eve i guess). hmph, can't stop thinking of all the guilds i wanted to kill in my faction in wow. Neways, haven't read much about WAR, it may be good and they might have alot of new ideas to offer but the way the game will be played will undoubtedly be the same as virtually all the other mmo's out there. I'm a huge pvper - WAR may offer more of it, but I'm also looking for something different.
I wasn't trying to be biased, but I guess you could say I should've rephrased. And yeah, you're right, let's wait until release comes out. But you do know the effects of an M rated MMO will be, right? Yeah, no little kiddies and whatnot, but don't you see how that'll effect the population and popularity of a game? Little kids bring up the hype: they talk about it with their friends, they talk about it with their family, they might even talk about it to their teachers or superiors. They're the next generation of people that are the perfect audience to pull into a game. An M rated game would totally cut off the big money supply from the consumers. The AoC environment fits the atmospere of an adult or older teenager, and not the younger peoples and typical population. When I say typical, I mean people who are just normal people, like people who take classes, have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, like to party... those who aren't really hardcore RPG gamers. Regular people just playing an MMO probably aren't looking for an RPG with 24/7 blood and gore, and kids usually have strict adults with rules on games and movies. The reason why World of Warcraft has a huge population is because of the fantasy based world that doesn't include heavy violence. WoW didn't become popular because of sites like this, but because the younger audience got their hands on it and spread the word. Why do you think many horror movies are PG-13 instead of R? The people making the movies want the movie to appeal to younger audiences so they can get more money. Not only does this allow revenue from adults, but also to teenagers - a really big audience. I'm sure people are saying,"Well, kids will find a way to get the game." Yeah, that's true, Timmy will probably find a way. He might even spread the word if it has good gameplay and is addictive. But when the word gets out, other Timmies won't be able to get the game most likely because of their parents and certain rules and restrictions. You guys are probably thinking that this is all BS and crap, but it's all very logical and companies need to keep an eye on how audiences will react to certain things. This applies to both WAR and AoC btw, but I think Mythic is playing it smart with a T rating.
I'm not gonna be playing Warhammer Online, but it bugs me how people keep saying they copied off of Blizzard's Warcraft series. Christ people lern2research before making some complete false statement!
Wikipedia only the greatest thing ever for information about anything.
Warhammer predates Warcraft by 11 years also another thing is Warcraft is a obvious rip off from Warhammer!! The Helm of Might is an copied off the Ork Chin Armor. Copyright infringement much? If you wanna know even more just check out Warhammer 40k (1987) and Starcraft (1998). Blizzard's only original idea Diablo, but i could be wrong. Anyways I'm getting off topic and thinks AoC is gonna be the one to taking home the trophy. i think i've seen enough dwarves and orcs this decade, but that's just me.

Did you know Conan has been around since the 1930's! That's 70 years of Lore people! 70 years!
So Warhammer and Blizzard has nothing on Conan.
(From Wikipedia)
Conan the Barbarian (also known as Conan the Cimmerian, from the name of his homeland, Cimmeria) is a fictional barbarian created by Robert E. Howard in a series of fantasypulp stories published in Weird Tales in the 1930s.
Conan the Barbarian was the name of a Gnome Press collection of stories published in 1954, a comic published by Marvel Comics beginning in 1970, a film and its novelisation in 1982.
I thought the first Conan books were late 1920s? Conan pwns all!! I hate when people also try to compare Aragorn to Conan, cuz everyone knows that Conan would win, in the book and movies. Aragorn would stab book Conan and he'd be unfazed and chop off his face. Movie Conan would throw a temple at movie Aragorn. Yea GG
I'm a bit disillusioned with WAR. When I first read about it it seemed kinda cool. But as I read deeper i've realized that it's same as WoW. You cant loot other players stuff. When you kill people in PVP you get loot and Xp as if you killed mob of the same level. There's no open PVP. Read the description of the "giant and beer kegs" quest - players cant attack each other on sight. The "scenarios" where you push enemy army to their capital and then sack the capital will get boring very soon. There are just 3 battlefronts, throw in unbalanced server population (IMO orcs look way cooler than dwarves) and you get one team winning all the time with other team never able to reach opponents capital.
I'm not sure about conan. I like the idea of being able to siege enemy settlement, kinda like Shadowbane with guild waging wars on each other. Still, there's no open PVP, go you gotta go to these border kingdoms. I like how Conan claims to be "mature", but then there's "Action RPG" = twitch combat...

You're posting a AoC vs. WAR thread in the AoC area.
Of course it's going to be one sided against Warhammer.
AoC will win hands down
AoC will have hecklers and ignots
WAR not
Hecklers and ignots saved AO from dying
There you go. AoC wins
May i remind you
