Actually... That was the point of dogma, a religious parody.

I thought, as a movie, it sucked.

In fact all of the movies that dude has made have been pretty bad.  Sadly, for him, his first was his best.

    Oh, maybe Chasing Amy.

Yeah, Clerks was awsome.  Clerks II was pretty funny, but It made sense.. unlike the first one, which had absolutely no story line, and that was what made it awsome :)

No, it wasn't.  At least not in my opinion.  I thought it was a commentary on religious people believing to strongely, and closing their minds off to other things.

Don't see how it was "paroding" religion at all, besides adding comical elements to biblical references.

Have you never seen Dogma?  Or do you just not know what a parody is?  Because it is a funny or satirical piece of literature that is based on a serious event or piece of literature...

Dogma was MADE to piss of the Catholics, hence what It says right in the begining of the movie.  I can't find it, but it is basically a disclaimer saying "if you don't like it, well fuck you."

After sifting through that poorly written mess, I've drawn that the term "puppet" is an inaccurate way to describe your viewpoint? God or Allah is omnipotent according to your belief set, so I think that would make him a puppetmaster.

So Onemuslim, rather than putting some long string of ha's together next time you form a rebuttal, look at what you are repyling to. All you proved to me with your reply was that you lacked a good response, so you just laughed the whole matter off.

His use of the phrase "superbeing in the sky" was not supposed to be taken literally, as you took it. He was just pointing out that a theists "need" for something more than just living, and the fabrication of a creator to fill this need, is just as dumb of a mindset as living with no hope of eternal life.

I don't understand this. I have a hard enough time with religion already. I am catholic and go to church every sunday. But still, I don't understand much about my religion, though I would like to know more. I'm 13 and I'm troubled with things like this... I don't understand why Atheists feel it is their duty to try to pull people away from their religion. My religion and what I believe to be true is my business, not yours. I suppose the same thing goes for you?

Those who question another's faith are sure to get many opinions, but simply because of ignorance, they will not take it into their own perspective, even if some opinions are reasonable.

I myself cannot say much about what you are saying is true or false, because I do not know enough about my own religion to say so. Why do I believe? Because I want to. Why do you not believe? This I do not know. Why would anyone want to believe that existence is nothing more than a passive state, in which will all eventually come to an end? If you believe there is nothing more than this life, please tell me: Why do you care what the hell happens to you or anyone else? Even with religion, I find this to be a difficult question to answer even with the guidance of religion; but it seems to be nearly impossible to answer it logically when you believe there is no meaning to anything.

Religion can be a very, very difficult decision to make. In fact I would say this is one of the most difficult decisions in life. Maybe Atheists just want to eliminate this and claim it to be as a "problem." I don't believe misguided people will necessarily burn in hell. I believe that if there is god out there, he would give all of us another chance... Until we get it right. But who am I to question the creator of life, if there is one...?

I don't know that there is a god. There is not visual proof that there is one. The eyes can deceive, and so can the minds of those that know not enough. There is also no proof that there isn't a god. If I found out that there was no god, I would commit suicide. Maybe it is me that is the ignorant one... I don't know. I would just appreciate it if Atheists would stop trying to turn christians away from their faith. After all, it would be very unlikely to happen. Just as likely as it would be to convert you to christianity.

Half of the old testaments wisdom comes directly from Egyptian occult teaching. Take proverbs for example. The whole book is word for word egyptian teachings.

Was it the Instruction of Amenemope you were referring to there? If so, here it is: http://touregypt.net/instructionofamenemope.htm. I can see some similarities in it, sure, but I'd hardly say that Proverbs was copied from it. Wisdom is for anyone who seeks it. Don't murder the innocent is an example of common sense wisdom. For a king, don't live to be served but live to serve is a little more along the lines of wisdom that would be harder to find. Now, I have no doubt that cultures might exchange their teachings or adopt the wisdom of another culture. Whether it was done here is really irrelevant as to the existence or nonexistence of God I think.

Actually there are many corelations between the story of Hercules and Jesus.

There are some correlations between the origin of Hercules and the Biblical account of the Nephilim as well. Genesis 6:1-2 reads, "And it cometh to pass that mankind have begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them, and the sons of God see the daughters of men that they are fair, and they take to themselves women of all whom they have chosen." Genesis 6:4 reads, "The fallen ones were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when sons of God come in unto daughters of men, and they have borne to them - they are the heroes, whom, from of old, are the men of name."

The account of the birth of Hercules from Wikipedia reads, "He was son of Jupiter, the Roman counterpart to the Greek god Zeus and the mortal Alcmene." So what's happening? Zeus (a god) takes a mortal woman who gives birth to Heracles, a hero of old (http://www.pantheon.org/articles/a/alcmene.html, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heracles). That translation I used from the Bible was closer to a literal translation of the text I think.

So many that many historians believe much like christmas the story of Jesus's life was lifted from the cult of hercules to help pagans convert.

If that were so, which I doubt it was, then the theology that surrounded Jesus' life, death, and resurrection was lain down at least as long ago as the birth of the figure Herakles. I would argue, by word of mouth perhaps, longer. But that would be guesswork on my part. I don't deny, though, that Christ's life was later mingled in with paganistic symbolism, but I doubt the Bible we have today (not folk-lore or man-made ritual) includes those elements of pagan symbolism in its account of Christ.

And, yes, I've done a little research on Mithraism in relation to Christ. I'm still not moved in my position. If you want me to explain, then I might or I might give you websites to look at or whatever. I'm going to get working again right now though.

If I found out that there was no god, I would commit suicide. Maybe it is me that is the ignorant one...

If you ever "find out" that there is no god, then it likely won't be that you 'found out' but rather were persuaded to believe that there is no God. Just keep an open mind. Whatever happens happens. But if you've been 'born into' your religion - inherited the belief from your parents - then just do some research on why you believe the way you do. Remember, of course, that there are plenty of other people born into their own separate religions in the world. I, personally, disagree with Catholicism at least on one point, but it's at least got Christ as its main figure. So if you ever 'find out' that there is no God, don't kill yourself. Just look harder.

I've had my faith tested many times and come very close to becoming an agnostic or arbitrary believer in some arbitrary god, but those times that I did come close to losing faith weren't persuading me with reason and logic but with an overwhelming amount of voices stating 'your God doesn't exist.' As some other person in History stated, if you tell a person a lie long enough they'll believe it. So much of our beliefs relies on the trust in our fellow man. I don't know that there is a planet out there in space that is 'Pluto' - I've never seen it first-hand. But I've been told it by so many people and it's generally accepted that I accept it as well. If the actual knowledge of the existence of Pluto were necessary lest I lose my life, then I'd certainly put forth a great deal more effort in finding out the truth first-hand.

I'll reply per paragraph since my quoting skills aren't leet and this forums software scares me.
    1. I don't voice my opinion to any denomination until they try to convert me. Let me tell you, christians are alot worse about pushing their beliefs on people.

    2. I have yet to hear a reasonable opinion from those trying to convert me. I mean, hell, you're Catholic. You believe in purgatory. That was invented at a council by some other human beings, just like yourself. The Bible was written by human beings. I'm sorry, but I'm going to think these things out before I let some people from 1000s of years ago hold my hand and tell me what to believe.

    3. You believe because you want to. I question it because I want to try to figure out the true answer, not be lead blindly. Just because I don't believe in an afterlife doesn't make my existance during this lifetime any less meaningful. We were put on this Earth to procreate, and enjoy ourselves along the way. Then you die. It's pretty simple. Your illogical belief in something you can't grasp doesn't make your answer to the meaning of life any more logical.

    4. Now you're saying atheists don't want to use their brains in selecting a religion so they prescribe it as a problem? I think the irony in that statement speaks for itself.

    5. Now wait. After all this you're saying you don't know if there is a God or not. That makes you an agnostic my friend, welcome to my world. You are not a christian. I'm sorry to burst your bubble. Now...on the other hand, you could be a Paschal's Wagerer (is that even a word?). Since I doubt you'll bother looking it up, Paschal's Wager is the mindset that "I'm not sure if there's a God or not, so I'll act like I believe just in case, so I'll go heaven when I die." It's a what do you have to lose mentality. Now honestly, if you're thinking this way, and God does exist, do you not think he can see right through that?
Personally, I think Agnostics like myself have a better chance to get into heaven if it exists than a Paschal's Wagerer. I think an omnipotent creator will have alot more respect for someone who tried to figure out the answer than someone who followed along as a front because they were afraid to die and rot in a grave.

And why the hell would you kill yourself if God was disproved? That is ridiculous.

Well, Allah have created us for one sole purpose, Angels, Djinns, Humans, and even animals and plants and planets were created for one purpose, is to worship him and call his name in good, that's the main point in Islamic teachings.

And we can see that everyday in this cosmos.

But the thing is i'm way too convinced in Islam, being born a muslim and have learned many things about many other religions including Atheism, but the main thing is, you or anyone else here, have to yet prove me wrong, so far no one could man, no one.

Prove me wrong, i said this 10 times, and i will keep saying it, unless you prove me wrong, then i will be right.

Atheism isn't a religion. I'm not an atheist. I'm not trying to prove you wrong.
All I'm trying to get across to you is that neither of us have any real solid proof to back ourselves up, so how the hell can you say 100% sure that a being higher than us exists? You can't, and I can't say 100% sure that a being higher than us doesn't exist.
I actually hold atheists and theists on about the same level when they are over-zealous about their beliefs.
