I Dont believe I'm a monkey, I dont believe you are a monkey. I do believe that they are exceptionally distant cousins, and not ancestors, of ours. In any case, monkeys are a split off the path a long time ago, we are (theoretically) much closer to the great apes, gorilas, chimps, bonobos, etc. You seem to be getting the wrong message from the concept of evolution.
In any case, suspend disbelief for a moment, imagine for just a few seconds that the theory is correct. Does it make you any less human? Any less capable of reason and intelligence? Does it make the societies we have built any less grand? The answer of course, is no. In fact, I think it makes it all the more meaningful, since we were able as a species to rise above all the obstacles around us, to achieve something that no creature was remotely capable of doing for billions of years.
Besides, I know plenty of humans I'd rather have replaced with an ape or two as far as being related to them goes.

Funny thing is, most relegions cant be proven. The Bible is a poor translation, from an original that was put together from a bunch of stories that "cant" be proven or dis-proven. And these stories come from a group of people, that wanted to change their history.
Same goes for the other relegions, Mormans, muslums...etc...etc. All teach their own beliefs, but when questioned...its allways "Because the (insert religious book here) tells us so!"

I Dont believe I'm a monkey, I dont believe you are a monkey. I do believe that they are exceptionally distant cousins, and not ancestors, of ours. In any case, monkeys are a split off the path a long time ago, we are (theoretically) much closer to the great apes, gorilas, chimps, bonobos, etc. You seem to be getting the wrong message from the concept of evolution.
In any case, suspend disbelief for a moment, imagine for just a few seconds that the theory is correct. Does it make you any less human? Any less capable of reason and intelligence? Does it make the societies we have built any less grand? The answer of course, is no. In fact, I think it makes it all the more meaningful, since we were able as a species to rise above all the obstacles around us, to achieve something that no creature was remotely capable of doing for billions of years.
Besides, I know plenty of humans I'd rather have replaced with an ape or two as far as being related to them goes.
