The challenge is in realizing what's the bad and what's the good. Does SE knows it?

Well, UI is being rehauled, diverse content is coming and hell, I would be surprised not to see an auction house in Q1 2011 at this rate.

Who knows, tho. 2011 will be more than interesting year for MMO's.

UI from WoW, AH from XI.

    Tried and tested.

    I hope this helps.

"In the meantime, we'll proceed as planned."

Changing the direction of the game =/= not knowing what to do.

Well it kinda is when you don't know what that direction is, isn't it?

SE at this point is a ship without a rudder in a big shitstorm getting chased by a couple of nasty pirates who want to kidnapp the remaining souls it carries.

At least they respect their customers enough to keeop this game free. It is honestly no fun and the worst launch I ever have been a part of. Most games have a shaky launch, but this one had nothing fun about it at all. I logged in and after 5 minutes wanted to logout after the 1st week, everything about ther game was painful, boring and frustrating.

I might login sometime in the fuiture as long as it remains free, but I have not even logged in for over 2 months now eventhough it has been free. I will check on the updates though maybe after one more patch to see if it is even fun to play as a free game til P2P returns.

However, I got in the DC universe beta and that game is so much more fun than FFXIV that I doubt I will ever play FFXIV no matter how much it improves. I believe the games about to come out in 2011 will just be so far ahead of FFXIV that there will be no point to play FFXIV unless it goes totally F2P.

I am awaitihng GW2 and now plan to play DC universe as my only pay to play for the near future. With those 2 and then diablo 3 on the horizon, I don't see how FFXIV fits in anywhere unless totally free.

    GAME TIL YOU DIE!!!!

Like I already said, they have a direction, which they are going to change/adjust as seen necessary. Until that happens, they will proceed as planned.

Alright, I guess I'll hold off on uninstalling. Haven't actually logged in much since the initial month, but another MMO that'll amuse me for a day or so never hurts, if it's free.

To be honest, I'm slightly surprised and impressed with the level of fault they're willing to admit. Having working with/for Japanese companies for most of the last 15 years, getting them to fix problems isn't that hard. However, generally speaking, getting them to admit fault or flaw is usually a pointless endevour.

That's called cruising in my book.

And cruising is something you do when on holiday or when you have a lot of time to get somewhere.

Awesome news, gaming is serious bussines, and looks like they know.

And this is going to be the tricky part for Square Enix.  How do you convince or justify to your players (who have been playing a 'free' game for 3-6 months or how ever long it takes) that it is now worth paying for?

They are, honestly, pretty good at that.

Depends just how addicted these people are.

If they change the paying system too while at it I will get the game. I played FFXI and was totally in love with that game .I have not been able to play this one. My husband and paypal have a difference of opinion I cannot resolve so I am not allowed to use paypal.

I really hope they succeed in this endeavour and I wish them the best.

    I have to agree.

It's so funny, it's sad really...SE has become the clown of the genre.

Should man up and behave like WAR and AoC, no silly free trials, pay up or get out.

Kudos SE, that must have taken Balls of Steel...

I havn't played the game since the first free month, that was when it was dawning on me that the game is just completely broken...however, i've not lost hope that this game could become something really awesome in the future...

Good luck to Naoki Yoshida and team... Make it incredible!

I WANT A SCI-FI MMO!! (NOT EVE, or Fom, or FE)

LOL.... FFXIV is still F2P. Just yesterday i told my LS that you don't have to pay money for this broken excuse for game anytime sooner. And they disagreed with me. Guess i was right.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

And paradoxy i will prove you wrong...

F2P... Means Client is Free, no Subscription to Play game.

FFXIV... Pay for Client, Free 30 days of play (included in box price)  Currently Extended 90 Days and Counting....

if it was F2P then you could get client free and pay no sub

you opbviously need to review exactly what F2P means old chap

I always enjoy reading forum threads about this game. Player A quits game due to bugs and points out game is badly done, Players B, C, D all attack Player A and defend the game and use phrases such as, "Haters gunna hate."

Its been quite funny to watch from the outside :)

Oh, and grats to all the Player A's out there. You got slated for pointing out the obvious, as they say, he who laughs last an all that :)

Yeah its F2P for existing customers do i have to spell it out? Anyone who wants to buy it for them its B2P. I know the difference between F2P and B2P..CHAP!! doesn't change the fact that right now you don't have to pay a monthly fee for this mess.

They already did that and their free 30 day time (which came alongwith the box) is long gone. yeah it is awesome.

I like the spirit though, you always find something to argue about and defend your favorite MMO. ;p
