Invisible wallas are in from some of the post I been reading from the offical forums. I cancelled my 3 CE pre-orders lasnight. I will not play a wannabe mmo. Those invisible walls make a game feel like a singleplayer game to make lush and beautiful environment's around you.
Have fun prancing down your linear path's with all that open forest around you that you can't explore.
"The King and the Pawn return to the same box at the end of the game"
I don't mind a little bit of path restricting, I just hope its not like Guild Wars. That game had such a beautiful enviroment that was completely unimmersive or believable as a real living world.
Lol, it is exactly like that.

You can thank all the people who constantly complain that WOW has crappy graphics, every time someone complains about WOW's crappy graphics (which to me are not crappy just artistic and simplistic to m ake it work smooth, blizz is very smart) another uber ultra realistic graphics fest game comes out that sucks the big one.

Yes gameplay is very important. But quite why you use WoW as the benchmark for gameplay is beyond me. I would go so far to say that anyone who enjoys that game knows f*** about the genre.
That is farking obsurd to say. I have a copy or two of every mmo sitting on my shelf since Ultima Online. Im not gonna be a 30 year old prick and say WoW sucks. I feel there playerbase shows that they made a true epic mmo. Thier world is vast it has the features that all the other mmo's lacked. Sure they have a rotten childish community but Im not gonna be blind to the fact they have the top ranking mmo atm.

Actually, i think it's even worse than Guild Wars because except for a very few zones, AoC's environments do feel like you are more likely funneled through a pipe and most of them are even smaller compared to GW.
The FAQs, tricky screenshots showing vast panoramas and some interviews may suggest otherwise, but there is not much of roaming free and AoC is by no means a game for explorers and adventurers who like to get lost.
There'll be alot of jaws dropping from both gamers and fans for shure.

OK... I want to get this straight... you say you can see lots of beautiful things but they are in effect a painted backdrop which you can never go to?
And zones consist of thin paths that you have to follow? And that you have only as much movement freedom as a scripted single player game?
This sounds insane if true. If it's as bad as that, people will hate it.
But I find it hard to believe it can be that bad..

How do you answer to this without an inflamatory post when you know that the reality is exactly the opposite of what is mentioned here? And without breaking ... something else in the process?

I'll be a twenty one year old prick who says WoW sucks. It may have a vast world but falls short in every other facet of gameplay. If your thirty and derive enjoyment from WoW, i feel sorry for you; you obviously don't look for the same thing in the genre as i do. WoW is one of the most simplistic, unchallenging games of all time. it's made for the popular market, granted a lot of people enjoy it, a lot of people also enjoy Heroin. Don't tell me it's some accomplishment. That game has done irreparable damage to the industry.

As you speak about not breaking the ***, i assume you are taking part in the **** as well. How can you speak of things being the exact opposite then? Do you actually claim that AoC's world design is made to explore and get lost? You also seem to have missed the uproar regarding way too restrictive world design and the lots of disappointed gamers.
Beside that, i can't see any flaming aspect regarding my posting. I just gave up clinging to just another title that won't hold up to it's selfmade hype. I also know what i've seen so far from the game and what on the other hand people expect nowadays from a 2008 title. So i predict that folks will be in for a surprise as soon as they leave Tortage...and FC will be in for another surprise soon as the initial 30days have passed.
ok screw it, all this NDA breaking im going to speak my mind too i dont care if i get banned
ive read that same exact NDA breaking website as you have and i read the same info about the zones of AOC being confined...but that SAME EXACT NDA BREAKING WEBSITE also said its has been improved more and more each patch...
if you are going to break the NDA at least tell people everything u read not JUST the bad parts...also that world famous nda breaker who runs the website after all the good things and bad things STILL SAID HE WAS GOING TO BUY THE GAME
so jump off the deep end if you want, cry foul, cancel pre-orders blah blah blah....but i think you all need to clam down until you ACUTALLY PLAY THE FRIGGIN GAME !
I think its free roams after lvl 20. until then it is a good story telling mode with not too many options. It makes you learn how the game works. after lvl 20 u chooce ur own path.

Take a look at the list of 13 Games in Development on the left side of this page. Thirteen games. And how many of those 13 games will even release this year or before Fall 2008? A couple? Maybe.
You talk about what people "expect" from a 2008 title. I think it's more relevant to talk about what might actually release in 2008.
If AoC is as horrible as you imply with your NDA-breaking posts, then we are in for a lean, lean MMO year. More WoW for you, I guess.
What would happen if Age of Conan ends up with 1 million subscribers and kept on growing, like WoW did? And what if environments are more explorable than any other game out? I consider being able to climb up cliffs, and mountains, and swimming through under water environments pretty explorable!

Many people are here today on these forums browsing for a "better" game / reading mmorpg threads. AND GUESS WHAT? WoW got them started. I'm not ashamed to say I'm one of them.
Anyways, I digress.
"AoC Environemt Rumor!?"
I'll see it for myself and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that what many before me posted is true and that it isn't as bad as it sounds. Otherwise it'll be a frigging looooooong year for me. Newer MMO's can't come soon enough hehe.

and what if the other way around? starts off strong then dies down alot?
i just a couple on youtube, sort by date ones within the last 2 weeks there is one on
there with scenery thats new footage i think.
Looks massive and immersive to me.
I wouldn't worry about invisible wall, war has small instances that block you in when you go thru the tiers, one enterance at the top of the map one at the bottom thats all. It seems to be happening in alot of games more so lately. Although in that AoC video atleast it looks like there are multiple enterances and exits to zones.

If you saw a beautiful whitecapped mountain, wouldn't you love to be able to go there ? Not because some dev placed a quest there but because your inner explorer wanted to? AoC is a themepark game. If you stay on the path the experience will be entertaining. Stray beyond that path (if possible) , you might fall of the edge because some dev forgot to set up an invisible fence.

If you search out that video you will see a guy stood atop a peak with the cam spinning all the way around. For me the scenery is beautifull. Far more superior to the blandness that is coming out this year. Those peaks in the vid are beautifull.
You can climb mountains, you can get to fall off cliffs, climb trees and buildings, the zones look huge and fun for an explorer. Warhammer, Darkfall, The Agency whatever, will all have invisible walls, doubting it will be only kidding yourself, trying to prove that they wont is like me proving that they will. Same goes for AoC, it will have some its in the games make up, but the size of the world is massive.
Can you climb building, roof tops and tree's in other mmo's?? can you realistically dive underwater and actually drown in other mmo? no how is that for interactions. There are no seamless games coming out in 2008.

Well, that's a dispute between a randomly generated scenery as opposed to a hand drawn one. It just comes down to what each one prefers.
Well, its not. Its about the environment and how you interact with it.
