GW is a different monster all together.

This is also how Hellgate: London stations work and how WAR city raid instancing will work. Lots of players in the same instance rather than a few. Likely hundreds of players in WAR city instances. Basically when the city reaches a certain population point, a new instance of it is spawned for the newcomers to join.

It only does this during the initial siege stages once you get through the gate.  After enough of those 'areas' are beaten it those areas are closed off and everyone goes to the Actual City streets for access to the PQ's, Dungeons, etc.  Its better explained on the Paris Video...its totally possible it'll completely change by launch as well depending on testing.

copies of areas depending on the population.

Lets be a little more fair here.  It is an mmo, but if you go read the faq on Guild Wars site, look at what they say vs them being an mmorpg.  They don't claim they are an mmorpg.  I think they should only allow mmorpg threads on mmorpg.com and delete the rest so that people aren't confusing mmo with mmorpg or at least to try to play games with the distinctions.

LOL, I was getting the hell ganked outta me on White Sand Island last night, and kept trying to switch to another instance...only to be met with the message..."there are no other instances" or something like that....

    oof... flat I go again.

All I know is, I have Conan and its fun but the "instanced" servers are going to kill it. It just doesn't have that "massive" feel to it like I was expecting...even after the lvl 20 nooby train. This a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

I'm gonna keep playing for my free 30 days but still can't wait for my WAR!!!!!!!!!

If there really weren't any other instances, then I'm sure it was a crazy gank fest. I play on a PvE server myself so I can avoid those kinds of things :p

That's just wrong, an exploit and needs to be designed better.

After a careful reading of the posts in the AoC forum, it is clear to me that it's a game that is satisfying to the players that look for a SPGWPA (Single Player Game With People Around), but no so much for players that want a true MMO experience. WAR save us.

I think WAR will be a lot more fun than AoC and with all of the bad reviews I've decided to wait a bit before I buy my new system. I just hope the player base of WAR create great PVP videos like they did in DAoC. I enjoyed them muchly :P

I'm sure it's totally possible to solo your way to 80, you will however, miss out on quite a few really well done(and not soloable) dungeons along the way with some great loot. Btw, any MMO can be played by people that play solo and don't want to group so singling out AoC as if that's all that's there is a bit unfair.

War will probably get the big market of 13 to 18 year olds - which AoC misses out on.

War will be so exciting - especially if I can get some of my friends to play it with me! I'll take keeps everyone and get a statue and play a massive role for my Realm!

    War is coming.

After playing 45+ levels in AoC, I'm thinking that 17+ M rating holds zero weight. I mean look at all the 17+ M rating xbox/ps2/3 games out.. do you think that stops kids from getting those games? My neighbor's kid plays GTA 4 and is 11-12.

Anyways, based on the forums alone in AoC.. I'm thinking there are tons and tons of 13-17 year olds.

Ah well, cancelled my acount, will play out the free month. But I'm just not "feeling" it. To many things I dislike, and YES the combat gets old, anyone who says it takes skill is in disbelief, or are still a lowbie.

Pressing 1/2/3 over 1000 times in a 3-5 hour session with other buttons on top of that  gets old, plain and simple.  It's barely more intuitive than auto attack, don't let people fool you.

I wanted to like AOC, ah well.. was just gonna hold me off til WAR came out. And my WoW days are numbered.
