    If 5 = WoW

    Then a AoC will be  a 9,

higher once the bugs are sorted

Currently AoC is predicted to get a Metascore of 92%

and sale of  2.28 million copies

    http://www.thesimexchange.com/stock.php?id=394

    From http://www.gameriot.com/blogs/World-of-Ming/ :

For those that fear the ability for all classes to stealth, there are differences, but the basic fundamental level that all of the non-stealth reliant classes have, is dictated through how many of your skill points you put into the ability. And like I said above, you have a counter-stealth ability as well, allowing you to reactively activate a perception-type skill if you fear you're about to get ambushed. Also, you can't just stealth anywhere and not fear getting seen. While you can stealth in broad daylight if your skill is high enough, you become easier to see as you approach light sources, and heavier armor will make you one bulky ninja as well.

Yesterday I was running around with a guild mate, and we had recently seen a group that we were warned was hostile. We were being as cautious as possible while trying to maintain a decent grind, and we'd occassionally pop our perception ability to make sure we weren't being ambushed. Eventually we began to get a little lazy and let our guard down, and upon finally remembering to use the ability, I popped 5 players out of stealth just a bit too late and proceeded to get completely torn apart. I wasn't upset - I didn't cry; rather I laughed at how awesome it was that that group was able to completely stealth on top of us and own us because of our forgetfulness. I can imagine so many different strategies later on based on the ability to hide basically anywhere you want. It also provides for a means of escaping - if done correctly - if you're solo and have a root ability and find yourself outnumbered.

No, I'm not playing WoW FYI.

I gave the game 5/10, which is not enough for me to continue to play. So I have unsubscribed even though I preordered and was part of Early Access.

The game had great potential, but really lack of understanding some of the fundamentals of MMO messed up this game.

    - chat, friends, and party system, general UI is horrible. It is clunky, annoying, and I feel I am constantly fighting with it (this is a fundamental flaw, this is an MMO chatting, partys, and friends and guilds, etc should be one of the easiest things to be able to do!)

    - bugs (ok, it's a new game, but it shouldn't be out yet. I feel it's still in beta. The bugs in the interface and video are horrible and just annoying

    - PvP on the PvP servers are ok, but the devs have no real clue about PvP. They initially had zones and rez spawns with no immunity timer so people would insta die upon rez (hehe). Other on going changes to classes, feats, and spells and "balance" to PvP shows that this was barely tested. They are making some horrible changes, and show they have no clue what they are doing

    - graphics = great->amazing? (I wouldn't know I play on lowest-lowest settings with 5-10 fps)

    - quests: repeative. For example the Ruins quest, i think you have to run to the Ruins, to the very far end and back to town about 5 times to actually finish some of the quests

    - quest UI: I think it's great, here they did a good job

    - Terrain: beautiful looking but some what linear...as someone has said I don't feel the "openess" of the MMO world. This is just my opinion.

Currently, I recommend save your money.

I play the waiting game. That's where you wait a game developer to deliver at least half of promised features into reality. Funcom failed on this, BIG TIME.

Next in line is Aventurine with Darkfall, and perhaps Spellborn. If those fail, I'll go back to EVE.

Just look at his post history. "Age of Capture the flag", "Evercrap" and the like arn't good enough for him.

Well with regards to DFO, I think it will be a much better game, regardless if they deliver everything they are promising. The devs seem to be gamers first, and marketers second. They want to create a game that they themselves want to play, which seems to be much closer to home for a lot of the old UO fans...about openness to the player.

Furthermore, they are creating this game around PvP, not as an after thought like so many MMOs, which eventually butcher classes and spells in the name of "balance."

Their ideology of what an MMO should be and their idea of PvP is just so right that even if it is subpar, I feel it will be much better than things like AoC (and really, I had such high hopes for this game).

    6. Some classes are in dire need of repair (taunt is next to useless for tanks)
    7. Exploitable system (traders turned off because two days before official release a guild figured out how to dupe money on the system...not a good sign)
    8. UI is very poor. Huge icons, clumsy hotbars, small hotbars, huge windows (this has been fixed by 3rd party UI Modders)
    9. Chat system is very poor
    10. Guild operations very poor. Currently you cannot promote anyone. Its easy to get kicked out of a Guild (there is a chance if you crash, you get kicked from the guild. If this happens to the leader then the guild is screwed since there isnt a promotion system in the guild or an automatic promotion whenever the leader leaves)
    11. Starting area restricts you to a very linear approach to questing for the first 25% of your total character progression.
    12. Fatalities is flawed. If you are fighting multiple mobs and you do a fatality on the first person, the other mobs will get free swings at you because you are doing a cinematic move.
    13. Limited harvest areas for those who harvests things post lvl 20
    14. Having to wait until lvl 40 to craft.
    15. Siege warfare is flawed when you can only have 48 people in a zone.
    1.  I agree with the 48 player limit, it is pretty lame.

    2. Community seems great on my current server(Dagoth), no immaturity(people running around naked/etc) and my guild members are great.

    3. I agree with the PVP issues, it is messed up and there are no rewards for it. I am sure however this will change over time.

    4. True, until you get to crafting(custom augmentations/slots).

    5. Backgrounds are fully functional, so dont know why you assume this? I have walked all over 2-3 zones and have never ran into  "invisible walls."

    6. Not true about taunt, I have grouped on a few ocasions and used the "taunt" skilles(like brutal engrage, etc) and they work fine.

    7. One exploit on launch, seen dozens within WoW, and alot of other MMO's.

    8. I agree, the UI needs to be a LOT more customizable, though that is one of their main concerns atm.. Funcom is actually working on this, and seems to be listening to customers.

    9. I agree about chat as well, same as above, this was also on their "to-do" list.

    10. This makes no since, I am co-founder of a guild and we have no issues promoting people so not sure what your going on about. We have about 30 people in our guild with different ranks, now the crash issue is a small problem(has happened to a few members, but we just re-invite them).

    11. Tortage is very immersive to me, and a tutorial so yea it's suppose to be this way.

    12. As with another post, fatalities work fine for me.

    13. There are limited harvest areas atm, but this will surely be fixed.

    14. Nothing wrong with having to wait, it's a mmorpg have you ever played one? 99% of all mmo's have some form of a certain level to do such and such.

    15. Agreed about siege warfare, though we cant be for certain. Number of people doesn't really matter, it's how the tactics and strategy is set.. when this starts we will see if it is fine or not.

Overall a VERY good launch, give it a few month's and the small glitches will be resolved, don't worry.

Ive played 32 major MMO and worked for two of them. Served as a volunteer ingame GM for the Polaris team in EVE, served as ingame CSR (volunteer) for Anarchy Online. I was a Live Quest giver and Lore story teller and Senior Guide on EQ2 Najena Server and worked as a Guide for Vanguard and Im friends with the community manager for EA/Mythic ;)  I have some MMO experience.
With that said, I still think waiting until lvl 40 to craft is a little odd.

I agree 100%. Very nice launch. The game is great for some and for some it doesnt stick. Unfortunately, Im one of those that don't really care about it right now. HOWEVER, withthat said, I have the utmost respect for those who love it. If you love it then that's great.

I've played a few MMo's now and can say that the games in and of themselves aren't that great really.  ...  let me clarify...

It wasn't the graphics of a game that made me like it or buy it.

It wasn't the PVP coolness that made me love it.

It wasn't the sheer IP that made me love them.....

It was the community.  I just learned that from over 2 years ago, my SWG guild that went to wow is forming up on AoC.  Guess what.....I'm sold.   Not because of game glitches or exploits....but because ppl I know and care about are there and we're all ready to get to it...as a group of close friends.

Solo= console game.  not an MMO...

What makes an MMO good is the MMO part...Massive MULTI-PLAYER ONLINE.  Community is why MMo's are what they are.

Modal chat in AoC is a BAD BAD choice in my opinion.  Makes it impossible to combat and chat at the same time (be realistic, you know what I mean...unless all you've ever played is wow, then no u don't)

SWG had non modal chat before the combat upgrade...and it had the closest community I've seen...coincidence?  I think not.

Wow is modal chat and you can't get half the ppl to even reply to you if they're busy.  community is a ZERO there.

    "I'm just sayin is all..."

    >   Overhyped?  Perhaps, but that is our fault not the actually saying anything about the game itself.

    >   Lot of bugs?  No.  Simply untrue.  Like the game or not, AoC is perhaps the most flawless game ever to be launched.  People have very bad memories and have selective memories when it comes to the "wonderfulness" of other games when they were 4-days old.

    >  Very Instanced?  Nope.  Wrong again.  The only part of the game that is instanced to any extent is Tortage.  That's it... that's all... drop this silly attack on the game, it only shows you have not played it for more than a few levels.

    >  PvP doesn't work?  Well of course Open World Free For All Chaos doesn't work... but I thoguht that is what the kidiots all clamored for?  Didn't they opine about how all PvP was too controleld and they wanted FFA?  Well.. here you got exactly what you have whined about for ages.  And yep, it is Bork!

    >  "Skill not work if tarcet kite run"  I am guessing that this string of horrid public school system spelling and grammar means something to the effect that it isn't the exact same crap from EQ / WoW ?  I say good.  Not sure how that is a problem.

    >  "Combat is not specil (sp)"   "Its just dump in long run" & "cant really grind so nicely" ?  Again the public schools have failed us... but I am guessing that this is the exact same gripe as above, that somehow this game (which I feel is way too much like World of Worthless) isn't exactly like Wow?  Good... says I.

8 out of 10 frun me.  It is better than WoW, LotRO, TR, DAoC, EQ, EQ2, AC2... so it has earned its spot in the top... but it still could be better and more of a sandbox to earn a slightly higher score.  (10 is perfection and that is left for leveling real life, not toys)

Playing AOC and have my character on level 39 atm.  Been playing mmo's since ultima online and M59

    Graphics 9.0

    gameplay 8

    Depth: 4.5

    world design 6.0

    UI design: 6.5

    long-term appeal  affect: 7.5

    Community : 3

    Presentation: 9

    ---------------

    Overall: 7.6

    -------------

    Pros:

    - combat system

     quests

    lore

    graphics

    Casual friendly

    Smooth game play.

    -------------------

    Cons:

    - community ( it has a terrible community

    - World design: it is way to small for an mmo, outside tortage , it is the same, it isn't bad but it is by far not the best solution either.

Leveling : way to fast , like i said, it looks like it is made for console players who don't want to spend time playing this but just want everything holded in there hands.

PVP has no ruleset , it hasn't got meaningful pvp either

No risk vs reward in dying.

Simplistic mmorpg, this will result in a mmorpg that will not appeal in the long road.

The mature rating is only for the adult content, it is by no way a game that is created for mature people. Eve by example is more made for them mature people. This , no , by far not, it attracts 12 year olds faster then WOW in my opinion.

It is to simple ( see above)

    13. There are limited harvest areas atm, but this will surely be fixed.
    14. Nothing wrong with having to wait, it's a mmorpg have you ever played one? 99% of all mmo's have some form of a certain level to do such and such.
    15. Agreed about siege warfare, though we cant be for certain. Number of people doesn't really matter, it's how the tactics and strategy is set.. when this starts we will see if it is fine or not.
Overall a VERY good launch, give it a few month's and the small glitches will be resolved, don't worry.
I agree 100%. Very nice launch. The game is great for some and for some it doesnt stick. Unfortunately, Im one of those that don't really care about it right now. HOWEVER, withthat said, I have the utmost respect for those who love it. If you love it then that's great.

Ah cool, well glad to see someone that isn't just trolling. Thanks for the input :).

I'm a big fan of this game. However I'm not going to say anything yet. The graphics aside,  you have to look at the core of the game. No matter how much make up you put on a pig, its still a pig.

Graphical eye candy is partial novelty and partial necessity. You need decent graphics, but at the cost of game play? In my opinion never.

I hope in those 5 years FUNCOM was developing the game, they didn't forget to leave out the most important part of a game. The part that keeps you coming back again and again
