Enjoying the game but I have to agree the server I'm on (tyranny) has the worst community I think i"ve ever been around.   This is literally going to make or break the game for me.  My hope is the a holes will move on to the new  flavor of the month and a real community can form but right now its a gank fest with a community that behaves like a bunch of spoiled children.

I honestly can't stress how bad the community has been imo.  The sad thing most of them seem to think that 60's ganking 20's is perfectly acceptable and possible 1337 in their minds.  That is me seeing the constant bickering and juvenile behavior in the OCC it actually makes me want to just turn off the channel all together tbh.  Its actually very similar to how the general chat was in my short visit to shadowbane, I have never seen so many hateful and jaded people.

The irony of course is that if the behavior continues the gankers will once again chase off another servers worth of people, only to bitch when the PVP servers become ghost towns.  At the rate its going FC really needs to put penalties in place for blatant ganking otherwise the nights of jumping zones because that lvl 65 in the lowbie zone is camping your mission spawn all night will continue.

  • I feel sort of bad for Funcom. You know they read all these thread (they are even more negative on the official forums). I have never seen an MMO outside of maybe some crap Korean one that had this much wrong with it AND the consumer speaking up about it. They have to be somewhat concerned that the game, by the end of the year, will be officially deemed a failure. Even if they somehow end up selling a million copies, it seems a rather small percentage is able to bare past lvl 30, much less wanting to continue past the free month.

This is the classic fanboi thread. U ask people's opinions and when some1 posts something negative he either plays WoW fanatically, has a piece of shit PC, hasen't brought the game, is deaf and blind and the whole world looks like shit to him. Dont ask for opinions if u are going to invalidate them afterwards.

There is no way anyone should be giving this game a 1 or a 2.  Whoever did that is a complete f****** idiot and clearly has not played the game.  There are very few games in the entire history of gaming that deserve such a poor rating so i look upon those that rated this game a 1 or a 2 or even a 3 with absolute disdain.

I rated this game an 8 because the combat is interesting and reminds me of Diablo 2 esque and i thoroughly enjoyed Diablo 2 as it is one of my favorite games of all time.  It's like a cross between DII and Dungeon Siege type and it's pretty cool.  the graphics are fairly well done even though my computer can barely run it (dual core 2.0ghz with 1600XT 256GDDR3 2GB RAM), but it's managable and i am actually really enjoying the questing for once.  The quests are actually worthy of a single player game and is actually really interesting for once.

I confess I have not made it into the main area after the 1-20 level place, but I can't imagine it being that much worse than the initial area.  I actually imagine it being a lot more exciting as you can help and bond with other people.

I support this game as of right now and i encourage anyone who is looking for something relatively different, or new, or someone who liked Diablo 2 (think like Act 3 was in the campaign), or someone who liked Dungeon Siege.

The combat is really cool and is interesting.  Sometimes it doesn't live up to its expectations because sometimes when fighting like a low level cheetah instead of like an Ascheron Guard you can just spam one key but when you fight Guards you need to pay attention because they can deflect your attacks and they can womp you pretty hard too if you dont execute combos fast enough.  Combat is pretty interesting and very challenging at times, but not too challenging as you die all the time.  I think the combat difficulty is perfectly balanced becasue it is definitely not too easy for sure and is a good step up as far as AI goes.

Good luck to everyone playing the game.  I am thoroughly enjoying it and i hope my computer holds out.  Whoever voted this a 1,2 or 3 straight up just needs to burn in hell of set.

I gave it a 8/10 because nothing is ever perfect. I just finished Tortage, it took me about 4 days to do so and there is about a total of 57 quests to do in the area.

Combat: By far the best. The combos and fatalities are pretty darn cool. It does take awhile to get used to it but once you get the hang of it its alot of fun. No more auto-attacking and thank god for that. The only gripe I have here is about the shields. It is really a pain to try to work your shields while trying to combo and stay alive :P

Graphics: By far the best I have seen in a mmo. The downfall though is that you really do need a pretty good video card to actually enjoy the scenery though the game is totally playable on low profile cards, you just have to tweak your settings. On my 8500gt 512 mb I can play it on low - medium getting about 30 fps and as high as 40 in some areas. Upgrading my vid card asap so I can enjoy Hyboria much more.

Grouping and Gameplay: It is so easy to find a group to do quests. I play on the Ajujo server and most people are always looking to group up. The gameplay is actually competitve, you have to be careful of respawns and aggro.  Destiny Quests are alot of fun and I have received some pretty good rewards so far by doing them.

Zones/Instancing - AOC is mostly zoned with some instancing. The load times when zoning are actually pretty good on my vid card so this is not a problem for me.  I don't understand the whines about AOC being zoned because some of the most successful games such as WOW,FFXI use instances and zoning as well.

I'm only a lvl 24 Conqueror (soldier class) so I can only base my rating on what I have seen so far. I have yet to do any crafing since you can't craft until level 40.  Oh and I love playing conqueror, you're bascially a dps guy who can be a secondary tank and give people alot of really cool buffs. People love the offensive and defensive buffs I can give them.

The best advice I can give anyone considering playing is that when you start you make friends, find a guild and just have fun decapitating your opponent's limbs ;) AOC is pretty darn awesome and people should give it a try if you haven't already. I never was a fanboy here, I always been a tad bit skeptical about the game because of the constant pushbacks but since I have actually played the game to seen for myself I'm actually a believer that Funcom has made a really good mmo for many to enjoy for a long time.

I'm enjoying it so far.  Feels a tad linear, but I haven't gotten up high enough to give it a fair rating.

I gave it a 8, I would be a clear 10 if not all the rough edges on this diamond....10 is for the flawless games, and AoC is far from flawless..

All those people that has given it a 1-3, what can I say, 1-3 is only there for games that are COMPLETLY unplayable on sufficient hardware, not the low req's but the recommended ones atleast..And the game is FAR from unplayable on these computers, and if you dislike some parts of the game it would still verant a atleast a 4-7 score..

The rest is ofcourse a matter of taste, zones, instances, that most people complain about..does in no way stop you playing the game for more than a few seconds to tops a minute..The whole open worls issue that people claims, well It's a trade off, super hot and detailed graphics, with good fluid gameplay or not so detailed world with seamless zones..I prefer eyecandy..

Combat, well it's something new, and I like it, It may get old fast thou, It still doesn't verant a 1 score..I love the combat thou..

But HEY, I got tired of the "STANDARD" MMO combat a LOOOOONG time ago, but I still play games like LOTRO,EQ2 and WoW at times and they still has this unbearable combat system without innovations..Atleast FUNCOM had the guts to try something new..

Giving the game (or almost any game for that matter) a 1/10 is the most arrogant, pathetic, and narrow-minded piece of garbage thing you could do here and to see that many people fail so miserably in being anything but idiotic makes me sick.

A ONE? What is your scale here.. Honestly the horror show of Dark and Light doesn't even deserve a one. Give your ratings a few points for graphics, voice overs - something! I'm not a fanboy, I have only played the game one night so I am not even rating it yet. If this were about any game I would have been just as annoyed.

Do you not realize the stupidity of rating something a one? Do you not see that its obvious you're trying to make an arrogant point? You're clearly to ignorant to be aware of the work that goes into any video game. Honestly, go away. You are ruining the thread, there should be no one's on this poll.

If I absolutely hated the game, and wanted to see it fail, I would have a hard time giving it anything less than a three. The game had one of the best launches ever, it has gorgeous graphics, and the voice overs are done very well. It also executes a change to the normal combat system that actually WORKS, even though you may not like it. This game in particular, has earned at least a few points. Shame on you, and be embarassed if one of those ratings is yours. You have nothing to say to defend yourself.

PS. If the game didn't work for you, imo you shouldn't be rating it at all.

I gave it a 5, haven't played the retail version yet (don't intend to either), but i was in beta and am still able to login via what is now known as test live, though i never do.

Graphics and sound are a 10, stunning, best part of the game.

Combat is a 6.5, great until the novelty wears off, then it becomes a button mashfest. Fatalities are cool, but again the novelty soon wears off.

Gameplay is a 4, quests are crap, its all too easy everything is marked out for you. Dungeons are pointless, i solo'd through one for 20 minutes, then i realised there was nothing in it but normal mobs and the odd [boss] that was no different to a normal mob, what happened to the days of dungeon crawls, killing nameds and getting uber loots! And how easy is it to level in these new MMO's? People are level 80 already i hear, how gay.

Community is a 4.  I cannot comment about retails but in beta if uou asked a question in general chat you usually get a reply, it was mostly filled with chat about system specs etc in beta but in my experience when i was questing around the Ymrish regions (elite) i hardly ever found other players to group with and it was annoying to say the least. The fact you can solo most of the time anyway doesn't help build a good community.

Overall a 5, i was excited about this game, delighted when i got my beta invite but left feeling unsatisfied. Hence me not buying the retail version. Average game with a few nice features, doesn't do it for me. Guess i will have to hope the next big mmo gets my addiction.

Too risky to rate a so freshly launched game...Does any remembers wow on launch??? nothing to dowith the wow as it is now...

Anwy for a just now launched game it takes 10 ..for a game that should fit to everyone's taste maybe 6 or 7,but as i said its yoo early to say anything...many things will change in this game and as blizard did i think funcom will hear the suggestions u do /complaints so  try to add serious comments,so the game improves where it lacks.

As for me i miss much from nowdays mmo's the old times classic adventuring spirit dungeon crawling, discoveries and loot in forshaken places, that only a few players may discover.

Gave it a 9. So far, the game is very fun. Obviously the graphics are outstanding and it runs pretty well on high settings for my laptop. I find the combat very fun and refreshing. Finally it's CONAN!!! That in itself makes it great hehe. Didn't give a 10 because I have yet to scratch the surface of the game. Hoping it will only get better from here.

lets start with alot of bugs.....its one of the best mmo launches ever (there were a few better ones)
vert instanced based.....not VERY but it has alot of instances ill admit
pvp dont work well.....LOL pvp is amazing in this game
skills dont work......what are you even talking about how do they not work?
combat was not specil......was the word you were looking for special? anyways you havent even played the game probably and if you have you dont understand that you cant smack your arm against the number pad to correctly attack in this game.

in the long run this will take most of wow older population and it will be in the top 3 mmo' of all time ( for the next 3 years only until they add expansions).

gave it a 10 as my rating but whatevskees (lol)

    6. Some classes are in dire need of repair (taunt is next to useless for tanks)
    7. Exploitable system (traders turned off because two days before official release a guild figured out how to dupe money on the system...not a good sign)
    8. UI is very poor. Huge icons, clumsy hotbars, small hotbars, huge windows (this has been fixed by 3rd party UI Modders)
    9. Chat system is very poor
    10. Guild operations very poor. Currently you cannot promote anyone. Its easy to get kicked out of a Guild (there is a chance if you crash, you get kicked from the guild. If this happens to the leader then the guild is screwed since there isnt a promotion system in the guild or an automatic promotion whenever the leader leaves)
    11. Starting area restricts you to a very linear approach to questing for the first 25% of your total character progression.
    12. Fatalities is flawed. If you are fighting multiple mobs and you do a fatality on the first person, the other mobs will get free swings at you because you are doing a cinematic move.
    13. Limited harvest areas for those who harvests things post lvl 20
    14. Having to wait until lvl 40 to craft.
    15. Siege warfare is flawed when you can only have 48 people in a zone.

im going to go over your post by which you numbered
1.LOL whered yo read that (you havnt played the game)
2.maybe your friend told you that there were mean gankers on a pvp server WAHHHHH!
3.it has rewards and it has punishments.....rewards are xp (and im guessing other stuff im not sure) punishments are that when you die you have yo walk 10 minutes back to where you were.
4.is 15000 different armar SETS not enough custimization

5.the zones are big but people dont realease that because they went EWWW icky boobs and loading screens afte after the first 5 lvls so if you did play this game you did for 5 lvls then.

6.WHAT this is the most balanced game ive played ive been trying to find the best pvp class but its hard so ya they arnt need in an repair.

    7. im not sure about this one so i wont comment (i was in closed beta not actually game cant get it for another 2 weeks)

    8. this one doesnt even need a comment you said what i was alrready going to

9.how is the chat system poor because you go / giggle or something or / mad POOR YOU

    10. once again not sure

    11. what can you do in other starting areas of games? kill the bunny and run to the guy down the street to finish your quest. this game is much better in starting zones in thsi game i feel like i mean something.

    12. do you know how long falalities take 1-3 seconds and guess what it gives you the ability to do more damage to the other people with the buffs from it s stop complaining and stuff you dont know your talking about

    13. not sure not comment

14.POOR YOU!!!! its so you have something to look forward to while leveling up im supprised they dont make it so yo get another BIG skill at 60 and 80

    15. back to the zone thing want to know why you are know an i know you havnt played this game cause the pvp siege warfar area is not that big so they limited to 48 vs. 48 thats 96 DUMB ASS and that 96 max thing is only for siege because you are all cramed in one area fighting plus the pvp siege for the 8 or 9 keeps isnt instanced.

I really like the game.  It looks like around 70 % think its better then average, which is good.  It has had a very popular launch, which means more people playing, more opinions to hear.  Even if half of the people don't re-sub, it will still have a huge population.  Time will tell if some peoples gripes will get resolved, but I think most people are happy with the game they got.  I personally love it and plan to continue to play it.  Atmosphere is the key for me, and I really feel the Conan world around me.  Unlike other people, I don't count zones and invisible walls as taking away the atmosphere.  On my rig zones take less then 5 seconds.  Invisible walls?  There are a lot of places in real life that I don't want to step too.

I doubt there wil ever be an MMO that appeals to everyone.  For every person that says "I hate radars that give away where everything is" there are equal numbers that get truely frustrated looking for things endlessly.

I read these reviews, but more and more I see there is an extreem mentality  with these games that really turns me off.  People that would rather bitch about the last 10 games that have come out then actually PLAY one.  Guarenteed they will complain about the next one too.  On a game forum you would expect that the forum would be full of posts from people that like a game, want to share about it, ask questions etc.  On this lovely forum, if you like a game you are a "Fanboi" and you are slammed flamed and torn down.  It's rediculous and stays the same after every launch of a new game.

  • JupstoJupsto Member UncommonPosts: 2,075

I voted 8. my hype for this game was well over the 10. the game lives up to the hype in some aspects such as graphics and combat where it is unstopable. however alot of the content is not yet in the game, it still feels pretty unfinished to me. plus I think we where kind of lied to about the amount of instancing etc.

if you class it as a mmo, its funner than any others. but still pretty awful in certain aspects, this from an ex fanboi.

    Gave the game a 6.

    1) graphics are excellent

    2) sound is good - very good

    3) starting area is a yawn fest, very bad idea by Funcom to make it this way.  Currently in an 80 strong guild and 90% of members hate the place.

    4) bugs, bugs and more bugs.  Crashes, broken quests, invisible barriers, vanishing skills, vanishing mobs and players etc. etc. too many to list.

    5) Crap community.

    6) Crap customer service approaching SoE standards

    7) very linear quest progression

    8) no real distinction between so called good & evil characters, even the evil ones are given the good oriented destiny quest line.  Would have been much better with an evil version to follow as well.

    9) cookie cutter characters once in game, every member of a class wearing the same stuff and using the same weapons etc.

    10) boring combat system once novelty wears off

    11) dungeons are bland and relatively small

    12) loot tables are pathetic, even boss mob drops in dungeons are very ordinary

    13) terrible resource & crafting system

The game as it stands is a bug ridden pile of eye candy to be honest, I'm here posting now because the Khemi zone is borked on Ymir atm with nobody able to leave it.  Before the flames start I have a high-end system and have levelled a guardian to 45 so make of that what you will.

  • JupstoJupsto Member UncommonPosts: 2,075

I got over that everything was zoned 5 times more than I expected, and some zones unessarily small. but I hear onl 48 per zone. thats pretty terrible if true, it would be ok except that the devs must have purposly neglected to mention that.

7/10 is average. But this game is more than average but not perfect. 9 would mean it is very polished but it isn't there...YET. So I have given it an 8/10 for what I have seen so far.

The combat is indeed fluid. When you are partied up you have so much to be aware of it's exciting and keeps me on my toes.

If you're having a bit of a problem with your joints this combat style WILL make your joints hurt. Unless you come prepared with some nifty Logitech peripheral.

What I was begging for...the character animations and the characters themselves are beyond anything I expected. Just plain gorgeous.

The area around Tortage felt pretty big with several places for me to venture off to. I do understand where some people are coming from saying it feels linear. Every area that you could wander off to is tied to some quest (s).

Oh yeah the UI has the same "feel" to it as the game itself. I love it except for some no-no's. Like not being able to target someone in your friends list and whisper them (yeah wtf). Some other functionalities are missing but really nothing game breaking.

People who want the game to fail (why???) are grabbing at straws with the instancing bit. Standing back and looking at it objectively it started to make sense why it's there. The graphics are to blame but so is the way the story is conveyed and in return we have a flexible game here.

I feel like I'm part of a movie and it's all thanks to the terrific voice acting and well made quests. It doesn't feel like a chore to me.

One thing I sure hope they fix is the collision with objects in the world (is it even possible at this stage?). Some people have gotten stuck between objects and sometimes the character animation gets jittery.
