I'm not a hater, i'm just being realistic about that crappy game. When a company lies and lies and takes over 10 years to release a game that has 1% of what was promises, dont you have the right to be disapointed in them ? Game is a POS period. To answer the OP question, the whole MMO genre right now is very dull and boring. It's all seems to be the same old thing all over again. So i havent played a MMO in over 6 months. Right now i'm playing Fallout 3.
You start with "I'm not a hater" and every statement follows contradict that.
"Fallout 3" is not even a MMO.
Darth,
The OP doesn't say MMO. He says GAME. I understand that english isn't your first language, but Game is NOT the same as MMORPG. An MMORPG is a type of GAME just as FPS is a type of GAME.
And I'm playing AC. Have you ever tried to play a Martyr mage?? it ain't easy.. Or fun. I'm also playing a mace guy with no melee D as it's useless in the first few levels anyways (no stamina..)

Unlike you the poster i quoted has a better understanding on the nature of the question.
See here
"To answer the OP question, the whole MMO genre right now is very dull and boring."
Because he was not able to find something enjoyble MMO game he has to play single player game.
I just point that out, the fact that he has to refer to another genre is to understand that way that poster dont like MMO in general not DF in particullar.

I understand this and I agree with this.
Its to bad that it had to be explained but it does.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

The nature of the question, and is actually asked are two different things. One might say I like cars, and in context, someone else might say.. Hot wheels aren't my thing..
The point is.. with the context of the question, you point out the Fallout isn't an MMO.. which was never the question. It was .. "What game are you playing". I spoke nothing to the person's post you quoted, in regards to the reply that you made. And, in the MMORPG forums, the topic was game, and we'll classify that as the computer/console type of game.
And the only difference between fallout and DF, in regards to genre, is the MMO part. both are classified by their respective makers as -RPG.

without having much context of the conversation whatsoever I was able to read what he said and fully understand what he was talking about.
To bad you didnt

It's not that hard to understand, he said the MMO genre is dull and boring nowadays, therefore he's playing Fallout 3, a single player RPG, the guy is not even hooked on any MMORPG at the moment (implied).
What game are you currently playing? Come on dont be shy and stay on topic please.
This is a bait, whatever the answer is, OP can call the respondent a hater, and dismiss the reason spamming "hater, hater, hater".
This is the cheapest loaded question trick used. A simple form of the same trick,
A study of the rapist: Alderalde, why did you rape that poor little girl?
I often ask that question with a promise to not trash any game that is mentioned. It usually takes awhile but people do eventually answer.
Its actually a very important information when having these conversations about bad games.
Speaking for myself I do not hold product loyality and if I can find a game I like better i will give very little thought to changing.
Yeah, like asking a gazillion time in official forums what other game people would play besides DF ... and then acting like "This is what you would play rather than DF? but it's completely cartoonish / boring / whatever "
... also you have asked what other games have had massive pvp sieges, stating clearly that you are completely unexperianced in terms of MMOs, everything you seem to know is wow and eq2... not to forget that you are so full of hate and so fed up with the gaming community, you can't stand the forums anymore, yet you are here posting at least 10 times each day on this board defending Df (patheticly if i might add).
You also claimed that you are a programmer yourself and yet you do not see the critical flaws that the engine of DF has and you are optimistic that AV is able to fix it after taking 9 years to deliver this crap?!
Oh yeah and you have 100 SP in mining and this didn't feel like a repetive, boring and mindnumbing grind to you? You do like the crafting in DF too, right? ... come on, you are one hell of a loyal product holder - until MO will come out i guess.
be reasonable man, it's ok that you like this game, but don't act like you are not a fanboi and everyone else has no fucking clue what he is talking about.

you guys are FAR to senstitive.
So people come on a message board releated to a specific game, trash it to no end and then are afraid to mention a game they like becuase someone might call it carttonish and boring?
come on folks...despite the fact that I have been loyal about not trashing a game when I ask the question what you are saying is a bit chilidish

errrrm, ok - so much about the lacking reading comprehension that you accused others in "Will MO finish off this game?".
maybe thirty years of intense gaming and not caring about customer support (lol) can cause some serious brain damage. i am not afraid to mention what i am playing, neither am i childish, i was just pointing out that you, despite what you are trying to make us believe, are acting like a VERY loyal and obviously blind fan of a game and i have provided arguments (ie fanboi) ... but you tell me like i am acting childish and i would be afraid of saying what i currently play, what the hell ? and you call me far too sensitive?
ok *drumroll* i am currently playing mostly games like gc2, cpma, bf:h, d2 or tq it.
the only mmos i am still subscribed to are eve (currently i just skill there tho) and i play some eu on rare occasions (which is a nice sandbox if it wouldn't be so awful expensive). there are no mmos atm that i would like to play, i am waiting for fe, tor, er and mo.
oh yeah and i have played uo, nc, swg, ac2, daoc, sb, wow, eq2, vanguard, runescape, aoc, ao, l2, potbs, bbo, planetside, ah come on i have played it all with a few exceptions i think, i was even so desperate at times that i have played many of those kawaii mmos which make the df grind look like holidays AND YES I THINK THAT DF SUCKS ENORMOUS, HAIRY MONKEYBALLS, it had a good core concept with amazing features that were promised but av lied to us, ripped us off and is still playing games with the community, they failed in a epic way and of course i cannot know, but i have the feeling that df will be shutdown at the end of this year - just take a look at the official board, they are not only losing subscribers massively, also where are all the long term followers and diehard fans that occupied the board? there are not much left. and don't tell me they are ingame enjoying the game... macroing in guild cities? setting new siege standards in the mmo industries by zerging 30 vs 40 200+ vs 200+?

not entierly sure what you are saying here exactly.
i will say that given my personal gaming style I would never in my life be able to have enough time to really get deep into that many games you have listed but I am also not a power gamer (not saying that you are but from the list it wouldnt surprise me).
as far as what you have said about DF i really do like the fact that you said "I THINK" i have much more respect for that.
So to re-cap
1. I am not intrested in switching to another Fantasy based MMO that doesnt have RTS features in it.
2. what has worked out very well for me in my gaming life is to play the game I like based on the game itself as it is out currently regardless of PR, developer notes or promises. This is a forumla, like I say, has worked out very well for me.
On the note 2. although the RTS features in DF are not as I would like there is currently enough in the game to hold my personal intrest to see if they improve it. HOWEVER, if my current gaming experience was bad I would in fact leave the game.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

You're contradicting yourself.
You say that you don't play a game based on what the devs say about it, but in this and another post you make the comment that the game is PITCHED as an RTS. You make it clear that you won't play anything else unless that doesn't have any kind of RTS features, but don't care what a dev says about the game.
You didn't get the RTS thing from playing it. You got that from reading what Av wrote about the game.
I asked you in another thread to desribe in detail how the RTS part of DFO works.
I want a description of what RTS mechanics are available to me in game.
You have yet to answer this question.
I'm going to ask you again.
What RTS elements are available to me.
And before you start answering I want to make clear that being able to place static objects isn't an RTS element.
RTS means real time STRATEGY. There has to be STRATEGIC elements in place.
Explain to me were the strategy is in the RTS mechanics.

trouble is you didnt read everything did you
1. I said, although the RTS system in this game needs to be fixed there is enough game content CURRENTLY to keep me intrested but if there wasnt I would leave.
2. I use the word RTS so that people do not confuse a guild hall with a player city. The context is completely differrent.
THAT SAID!
the SECOND bullet point of the DF current add is "its not just an RTS" and I really dont want to give you a blow by blow play of city sytems, city rares, ships, seiges etc etc etc etc
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

No I did read.
In fact I read it in both threads you posted.
Once again.
You keep spouting out that you won't play any other game that doesn't offer RTS elements. When asked to describe DFO's mechanics you respond with they need to be fixed.
If they need to be fixed, then they don't work; wich means that DFO isn't functioning as an RTS.
So your arguement is completely baseless.
You wont' play another game cause it doesn't have RTS, but DFO's doesn't work. That's the same as not having any.
PS: You don't have to give a blow by blow for me. I have an active sub. I've got almost 3 months worth of play. I've explored pretty much every mechanic in game except the actual city building as a clan leader. I'm very informed on how the game works.
The point I'm making is that you're not informed in the least.
You're just spouting off crap you read on the offiicial site as if they really exist in game. They don't; your just being misleading.
I've got a very good idea of who's getting a blow by blow though. Does he smile?

to not confuse you and have this conversation turn into defining what is and what is not an RTS (which I know you would do) I have decided to be more speicific. that said I will repeat those specifics
read carefully
In Darkfall I can create Ship, cities, cannons and warhulks.. The items can be stolen and conjured by other clans. MO does not have this.
Darkfall needs to have some improvements in this area, however what is currently posisble in game today is enough to get me still intrested in the game. If the current content was not able to keep me intrested in would not continue to play.
comparing what is phsyically in DF game right now today, compared to the list of features in MO I would Still take DFO instead.

Sean,
READ about MO.
It's FFA pvp with FULL LOOT.
If you craft it, I can take it.
Mounts can be taken, and they don't go in your pocket. They are a part of the world. You get off it, you need to put it some place safe or someone can hop on it and ride away. The dif. is. In DFO there is no penalty for stealing someones mount or even killing it. In MO there will be.
So I won't have a situation were a guy runs OUT OF A WALL hops on my mount and rides away with it, and then I become a murderer trying to get it back. As happened to me in DFO.
I really don't care that you like the game.
However, you keep writing things that simply aren't true.
You keep stating what MO is or isn't, and you've been wrong on every account. You don't seem to have the slightest clue what kind of a game MO is.
I say it really clear for you.
MO is very much the same sort of a game the DFO is.
They will compete within the same niche market and over the same playerbase.
Now, I'm not a fan of MO.
I like what I've read about it.
I like the communication the devs maintane.
And I HOPE that it will be a fun game to play, but until I've had a chance to play it I don't consider myself a fan.
If some want to call me a hater of DFO, that's cool.
I've put more then enough time into the game to voice my opinion, and I'll continue to do so.
You on the other hand have never played MO, I dought you've actually even read about the game itself, and yet you keep making statements about the game that are putting you on the cusp of being a hater.
I can undestand hating a game you've played, but to hate on one that isn't even out yet?

At least inform yourself before you start hating.

full loot pvp is NOT what attracted me to Darkfall to begin with.
here is what attracted me to Darkfall
I can build cities, boats, seige gear. there are no classes, its in FPS mode and the world is huge.
in fact, I dont even like full loot to be honest but I am ok with it.
I might try it out simply becuase of the graphics but to be honest its starting to become personal to the degree where I might not even try it out at all becuase of the comunity hate for DF
also someone said something about EQ2 crafting being more in depth that DFO crafting. As a level 51 talior and transmuter in EQ2 I am sorrry but I dont see that.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

I said EQ2 crafting has more depth.
I played the game for almost 2 years.
The process alone has more depth.
Both the original, wich I played, and the revamped, wich I also played.
DFO is about the most shallow crafting ever.
If what you're into is crafting then you got a lot more, and better options, then DFO.
If that's what you like you should really check out the power point for MO. It's very informative and gives great insight into some of the things MO is attempting to do. I'm not even that big into crafting, but depending on how they handle resource gathering I may have a serious go at MO's.
Ryzom is another game that blows DFO away.
Crafting isn't just standing around watching your toon harvest and then click create endlessly, although you can click create endlessly if you choose to.
The process of gathering resources in Ryzom is one of the most indepth gathering mechanics i've ever experienced. You actually search out resource via prospecting and then extract them.
You can also modify your skills using dif. abilities, to create specially taliored abilities.
It's also skill based and classless.
Not ffa pvp or full loot; although, it does have pvp as an endgame with factions and control over areas I believe.
And as someone else has already pointed out in another thread, VG.
You actually build houses and guild halls, as well as just about everything else.
You can actually make things to equip on your horse, and the process of crafting has depth to it. As aposed to just clicking create.
SWG is another one with a considerable amount of depth to the crafting process. I never really got into it to much, but from what i could tell it's more along the lines of Ryzom then any other game I've played.
If DFO crafting is enough for you though, cool.
But please,
there is absolutely nothing indepth about DFO crafting. It's EXACTLY like crafting in WoW and that's about as dumbed down as you get. It is hardly the best system out and nothing to write home about.
These threads are all stupid. The only reason people are angry at Darkfall is that it gave unreasonable expectations, which I am sure that even the most diehard fanboys can appreciate. It also is okay that people enjoy playing the game, haters, so back off. No other small MMO gets the attention that this game gets, no website seems to be solely devoted to this game the way this site is. They should rename the website www.darkfallhatersandfanboysfight.com because thats all I ever see here anymore. Sure, I jumped on the initial hate bandwagon, fine. But chill out, its been weeks since this topic should have gotten old, and just left alone.
I would love to play a more polished version of Darkfall because it sounds appealing to most of us, and its immature to keep at this game the way we do.
And to answer the question, my favorite MMO has been Guild Wars, love GvG in that game. Quit a while back cause I thought GW2 would come out, but that has been pushed back another sixteen years I'm guessing. Most recently played WAR and it was okay, but the class imbalances made me sick to my stomach, and my guild was full of people who soured my view on the whole game. I am looking foward to APB, The Agency, and MO, later SWTOR and GW2.

ok well whatever.
Just saying when I was playing EQ2 as a heavy crafter (level 61) when I heard I could build cities, cannons and ships I was instantly intrested. As it turns out the crafting engine is even more intresting then I thought it would be and yes, I like it more than EQ2.

Hey,
some people like things to be simple and easy; without much need to think.

Even though I cannot yet comment on the game because I don't think I've played enough to comment, I am playing the beta of DragonSky.

It's not that hard to understand, he said the MMO genre is dull and boring nowadays, therefore he's playing Fallout 3, a single player RPG, the guy is not even hooked on any MMORPG at the moment (implied).

So people come on a message board releated to a specific game, trash it to no end and then are afraid to mention a game they like becuase someone might call it carttonish and boring?
come on folks...despite the fact that I have been loyal about not trashing a game when I ask the question what you are saying is a bit chilidish

errrrm, ok - so much about the lacking reading comprehension that you accused others in "Will MO finish off this game?".
maybe thirty years of intense gaming and not caring about customer support (lol) can cause some serious brain damage. i am not afraid to mention what i am playing, neither am i childish, i was just pointing out that you, despite what you are trying to make us believe, are acting like a VERY loyal and obviously blind fan of a game and i have provided arguments (ie fanboi) ... but you tell me like i am acting childish and i would be afraid of saying what i currently play, what the hell ? and you call me far too sensitive?
ok *drumroll* i am currently playing mostly games like gc2, cpma, bf:h, d2 or tq it.
the only mmos i am still subscribed to are eve (currently i just skill there tho) and i play some eu on rare occasions (which is a nice sandbox if it wouldn't be so awful expensive). there are no mmos atm that i would like to play, i am waiting for fe, tor, er and mo.
oh yeah and i have played uo, nc, swg, ac2, daoc, sb, wow, eq2, vanguard, runescape, aoc, ao, l2, potbs, bbo, planetside, ah come on i have played it all with a few exceptions i think, i was even so desperate at times that i have played many of those kawaii mmos which make the df grind look like holidays AND YES I THINK THAT DF SUCKS ENORMOUS, HAIRY MONKEYBALLS, it had a good core concept with amazing features that were promised but av lied to us, ripped us off and is still playing games with the community, they failed in a epic way and of course i cannot know, but i have the feeling that df will be shutdown at the end of this year - just take a look at the official board, they are not only losing subscribers massively, also where are all the long term followers and diehard fans that occupied the board? there are not much left. and don't tell me they are ingame enjoying the game... macroing in guild cities? setting new siege standards in the mmo industries by zerging 30 vs 40 200+ vs 200+?
jedi mind - heavenly divine, steadily shine in '99!
not entierly sure what you are saying here exactly.
i will say that given my personal gaming style I would never in my life be able to have enough time to really get deep into that many games you have listed but I am also not a power gamer (not saying that you are but from the list it wouldnt surprise me).
as far as what you have said about DF i really do like the fact that you said "I THINK" i have much more respect for that.

Way to many abbreviations.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Sean,
READ about MO.
At least inform yourself before you start hating.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Please do not respond to me
Hey,
some people like things to be simple and easy; without much need to think.
It's just personal taste.
How do you have time to post on forums when you could be playing DF the amazing!
