    READ about MO.

It's FFA pvp with FULL LOOT.

If you craft it, I can take it.

Mounts can be taken, and they don't go in your pocket.  They are a part of the world.  You get off it, you need to put it some place safe or someone can hop on it and ride away.  The dif. is.  In DFO there is no penalty for stealing someones mount or even killing it.  In MO there will be.
So I won't have a situation were a guy runs OUT OF A WALL hops on my mount and rides away with it, and then I become a murderer trying to get it back.  As happened to me in DFO.
I really don't care that you like the game.

However, you keep writing things that simply aren't true.

You keep stating what MO is or isn't, and you've been wrong on every account.  You don't seem to have the slightest clue what kind of a game MO is.
I say it really clear for you.

MO is very much the same sort of a game the DFO is.

They will compete within the same niche market and over the same playerbase.
Now, I'm not a fan of MO.

I like what I've read about it.

I like the communication the devs maintane.

And I HOPE that it will be a fun game to play, but until I've had a chance to play it I don't consider myself a fan.
If some want to call me a hater of DFO, that's cool.

I've put more then enough time into the game to voice my opinion, and I'll continue to do so.

You on the other hand have never played MO, I dought you've actually even read about the game itself, and yet you keep making statements about the game that are putting you on the cusp of being a hater.
I can undestand hating a game you've played, but to hate on one that isn't even out yet?

At least inform yourself before you start hating.

    K?

full loot pvp is NOT what attracted me to Darkfall to begin with.

here is what attracted me to Darkfall

I can build cities, boats, seige gear. there are no classes, its in FPS mode and the world is huge.

in fact, I dont even like full loot to be honest but I am ok with it.

I might try it out simply becuase of the graphics but to be honest its starting to become personal to the degree where I might not even try it out at all becuase of the comunity hate for DF

also someone said something about EQ2 crafting being more in depth that DFO crafting. As a level 51 talior and transmuter in EQ2 I am sorrry but I dont see that.

the crafting in DF is... bad.

and by "bad" i mean, simply awful, boring, repetitive, plain, retarded, stupid, non-fun.

i would have thought, at the least, you would see crafting on par with UO.  taming on par with UO.  fishing on par with UO.  treasure hunting on par with UO.  et cetera.

if UO had a 3d engine, and modern movement (i.e. wasd, arrows, et cetera)... AND had several abyss/old school shards (i.e. pvp shards).... it would be the one to own all.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

It kinda sorta helps to read my posts where you would have seen that my crafting experience is only DF and EQ2 and all my coments about DF crafting is directly related to the comparsion of EQ2 which is extreemly repetivie and simple.

I mean as an option before replying anyway

do you mean that the crafting system of df is more interesting than that of eq2, or the other way around?

DFO is about the most shallow crafting ever.
If what you're into is crafting then you got a lot more, and better options, then DFO.

If that's what you like you should really check out the power point for MO.  It's very informative and gives great insight into some of the things MO is attempting to do.   I'm not even that big into crafting, but depending on how they handle resource gathering I may have a serious go at MO's.
Ryzom is another game that blows DFO away.

Crafting isn't just standing around watching your toon harvest and then click create endlessly, although you can click create endlessly if you choose to.

The process of gathering resources in Ryzom is one of the most indepth gathering mechanics i've ever experienced.  You actually search out resource via prospecting and then extract them.

You can also modify your skills using dif. abilities, to create specially taliored abilities.

It's also skill based and classless.

Not ffa pvp or full loot; although, it does have pvp as an endgame with factions and control over areas I believe.
And as someone else has already pointed out in another thread, VG.

You actually build houses and guild halls, as well as just about everything else.

You can actually make things to equip on your horse, and the process of crafting has depth to it.  As aposed to just clicking create.
SWG is another one with a considerable amount of depth to the crafting process.  I never really got into it to much, but from what i could tell it's more along the lines of Ryzom then any other game I've played.
If DFO crafting is enough for you though, cool.

    But please,

there is absolutely nothing indepth about DFO crafting.  It's EXACTLY like crafting in WoW and that's about as dumbed down as you get.  It is hardly the best system out and nothing to write home about.

I dont find DFO crafting the best ever created but i do find it better than EQ2 which I did for 9 months.

In EQ2 you can only be one kind of crafter (and or a transmutter or tinker) in EQ2 you can not build, buildings, ships, cannons, warhulks and towers which ALONE makes it more intresting. In EQ2 the reciepes are all pretty much exactly the same for all tiers just a differernt name for component X.

The mere fact that you can make ships and that you can have more than one crafting skill ALONE makes DF a "deeper" crafting engine that EQ2.

Calling EQ2 crafting deep compared to just about anything is pretty retarded if you ask me.

Oh my I got a rare!

Last played WAR, rather disappointed with it. Currently waiting on TOR to release, looking forward to trying out the Hero Engine.

May try Champions Online, depending on the early reviews.

    EQ2 crafting is deep becuase..

you cant have more than one crafting profession per toon

    EQ2 crafting is deep becuase...

The amount of damage your item does does not vary depending on your skill and chance for the exact same item

    EQ2 crafting is deepr becuase

You can not have additional skills that makes your current crafting proffesion better

EQ2 crafting is deepbecuase the amount of contents and type of contents is almost exactly the same for every single tier

DFO crafting is not deep good because...

you cant find reciepe books and you can see all reciepes as soon you buy the skill

darkfall's crafting is stupidly simple, boring, repetitive, and just plain blah.  do any of the mats affect my final product? nope, not one whit.  taming... taming is crafting and you "craft" a mount from a weed.  the same weed creates different mounts based upon your race, not location, not anything other than your race... wtf??

Played EQ2 for 4 years, quit a while back. Tried WAR but had routing problems so i quit. Playing online poker until something decent comes up.

Oh, and EQ2s crafting is light years ahead of DF. Basically, DF is a pile of decadent dung that should have been impaled in the wastelands as soon as it was "released".

In EQ2 here are the things you can NOT do that you CAN do in DF

    1. have more than one crafting skill

    2. build ship, cannons and warhulks

    3. have different stat outcomes for the same equiptment based on your skill level

    4. buy additional skills specific to one crafting area.

    5. have reciepes that are actually very different per tier and involve multiple componets that do not all come from a few source.

    6. have crafting requirements based on player stats which can improve from doing harvesting.

oh and food is actually useful where in EQ2 its not.

I think its better when games limit you, the player, to only take 1 crafting skill.

    Why?

Doing it this way promotes trading in its most simplest form.

Guy 1: I need a wood bow! Can trade for metal sword.

    Guy 2: Deal!

Game where your character has a god-given talent to become universally good at every crafting. There wont be a simple trading activity because if I can make everything I want by myself why would I need your help?

Can we go back to What Game You are Playing discussion? It was more fun.

ok so in your view a game has a "deeper" crafting system if you can only select one profession.

ok well I played EQ2 as a crafter for a long time and I quit the game and one of the main reasons was becuase I found the DF crafting engine more intresting.

Do you also find it more intresting becuase you cant create cannons?

ok mate, lets say you want to make a sword in DF. Lets say youve got all the resources you need. What are the steps of the actual crafting process? And lets comprate that to the crafting process of EQ2. Because really, i dont care if you can build youself a new asshole in DF, the process is rewashed, dumbed down and lame. So i can build a glorious ship... but... will i ever get to actually do it? No sir, you and i know you wont.

the crafting "process" in both games are insanely simple and in no way can anyone find either hiting 1,5,6 more intresting then click or vice versa! well i guess you kinda need the actual crafting tool in DF to craft but I really dont care about that anymore than I perfer hitting 1,5,6 instead of spacebar.

come on you are not seriously going to start comparing the two crafting engines based on how you actually craft? they both are insanely simple.

oh and for me, yeah that raft my buddy crafted actually is kinda cool and it does matter to me.

that's nice.  UO has tons more options in crafting than DF does.

why are you continuing on for the previous page, about (now) how simple crafting is in DF and EQ2... what exactly are you trying to prove?

the only reason there is any noticeable variance in crafted items in DF, is because of trueforge armor/weapons.  big whoop.  enchanting COULD be interesting, if it wasn't done so ass backwards.  you can make some items like ships, or buildings, or warhulks, IF you get a bunch of guildm8s to help you grind for resources.

but, building the cities ISN'T that big a deal.  i have more options in building POS in EVE... FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR more options in building POS in EVE, than this game has if you combine ships + warhulks + city buildings.

there's a few more category of items you can make in darkfall.  the tradeoff is crap graphics, animations, backgrounds... horrible core game mechanics (i.e. sieging being broken in half a dozen different ways).... insanely stupid skill separations and grinding... and just, well, everything about darkfall is piss poorly implemented.

full loot pvp might mean something to people who've been too scared to play eve for the past SIX years; but for eve players, it's just the normal junk.   tbqmfh -- full loot pvp is ALL df offers that's different.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

why are you continuing on for the previous page, about (now) how simple crafting is in DF and EQ2... what exactly are you trying to prove?

the only reason there is any noticeable variance in crafted items in DF, is because of trueforge armor/weapons.  big whoop.  enchanting COULD be interesting, if it wasn't done so ass backwards.  you can make some items like ships, or buildings, or warhulks, IF you get a bunch of guildm8s to help you grind for resources.

    OK I GET IT!

UO crafting is far more involved that DF.

thanks, I never said that it wasnt. I have never played UO so again, thanks again.

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

And lets comprate that to the crafting process of EQ2. Because really, i dont care if you can build youself a new asshole in DF, the process is rewashed, dumbed down and lame. So i can build a glorious ship... but... will i ever get to actually do it? No sir, you and i know you wont.

the crafting "process" in both games are insanely simple and in no way can anyone find either hiting 1,5,6 more intresting then click or vice versa! well i guess you kinda need the actual crafting tool in DF to craft but I really dont care about that anymore than I perfer hitting 1,5,6 instead of spacebar.

come on you are not seriously going to start comparing the two crafting engines based on how you actually craft? they both are insanely simple.

oh and for me, yeah that raft my buddy crafted actually is kinda cool and it does matter to me.

ok, first of all i don't like the eq2 crafting either, but what puzzles me is :

filling up all bars in eq2 to reach maximum quality by reacting to events with the corresponding skill on your hotbar is as "insanely simple" as clicking a button and watch a bar fill up?

the other poster also didn't meant that being restricted to one crafting profession means a deeper crafting system he was just pointing out that it makes sense to be restricted because of the ingame economy and the socializing aspect. imagine local banks in df and restricted crafting professions, wouldn't that be nice and also thrilling ... i even dare to say a little bit hardcore.
