How can you say it is generic when it is the 1st MMO to introduce free flight, not only as a aesthetic feature, but as a tactical attribute that you have to take into consideration when creating your character? Not to mention that this is the first MMO that I have looked at that has lots of character customization, unlike many who boast it. If this was just another "generic" MMO, then I wouldn't be playing it, let alone looking forward to it so much.
Have you played other MMOs???? According to your statement I guess not.

He said this MMO has more customization and flight that sets it apart from other MMOs. I would add to that, the open world PVP (that actually works, unlike warhammer) and the graphics quality also set it apart.
It's easy to troll his post by making your little smart ass comment, but what parts of his statement do you think shows he hasn't played any other MMOs? Please be specific. Being specific means telling us what other MMOs have flight and allow the amount of character customization that Aion does.

Thanks for the assist. Now keep in mind that there are some games out there (WoW, CoV/CoH, etc.) where flight exists, but not in a way as unique as AION. In AION not only is it free flight, but it's part of your body, not an item that you go get.
Also, it might be worth mentioning that AION just received the Best Online Game award at GameCon.
Haha, touché! Allthough Warhammer is quite different now compared to the crap we got served at launch. Just to bring a little fairness to all the trolling around here.
Ontopic to OP I think AyeON will do better then WAR n AoC.
There is no comparison - Aion is finished and polished, the other two are poo.
Again ... so many opinions thrown around xD

It HAS improved, just not enough. Open RvR is much better than it was at launch - except for T4. Hard to keep people playing when end game is garbage.

Asia should keep the game alive, no matter what happens in the West.
If you ask, though:
Will Aion "fail" just like WAR and AoC in the West?
I'd have to say YES. In almost the exact same way that WAR and AoC failed.
IMO, forced PvP, with no PvE servers (I'm personally a PvPer, but that doesn't blind me to reality,) will cut the long term numbers in the West by 50% to 66%.
Second major flaw? World design. Poorly designed and way too small game world.
In the West, I'm expecting Aion's subscription numbers at the six month mark to look very similar to WAR's numbers at the same point, with a similar curve. I'm not ruling out numbers and a curve closer to the one for AoC though. Even if people end up loving the PvP, the world design is at least as flawed and the world at least as small as what is seen in AoC.
I also believe that Aion will have a stable subscriber base from the beginning due to the fact that almost everyone had the chance to see it so we wont have any bad suprises here...

I don't know man...I certainly don't think it's going to have numbers the likes of WoW in the West but I think it has a lot more going for it than those other two games. Although you're right not having different server choices such as PvE and PvP will turn away some and the size of the world if nothing else least from a replay/alt standpoint will hurt this game. However, it appears to me anyways that it has a lot more to offer than those other two games and is much more polished than the other two were.
If Warhammer's PvP didn't turn into an absolute mess at T4, the game's PvE wasn't so lackluster, and an apparent flaw with their game engine since enormous PvP battles turned into a lagfest or even shut down the server that game could have retained a hell of a lot of players. As for AoC, well, some great concepts in that game got lost amongst the fact the core mechanics of the game were inherently flawed and they were one of the few companies I've seen that succeeded in breaking more things than fixing them on a continual basis for quite some time with their patching. Plus, how easy it was to reach max lvl and there was little to do once that was reached for quite some time after launch that got people frustrated with that game. Both of those games also added too many servers splitting up the population too much as well although to be fair this has been a common error made as of late by a lot of companies because they want to try and avoid Blizzard's debacle at launch.
If this game is maintained and managed properly I can see it having a rather healthy population that Warhammer and AoC could have had if they weren't so poorly managed. Both of those games had the potential to have a much larger group playing their games on an ongoing basis.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.
I really think it's going to be very similar to the WAR and AOC launches in the west.
WAR had a very loyal following and look what happened, initial subs around 700k then a big drop at the 30 day mark.I think Aion may hold more of the initial subs, but I don't expect more then 600k-700k,for the west.

Well i couldnt stay difrent to this topic, but the guy definitly didnt play much other mmo's :S
As for flying, there are FlyFF, which u can COMPLETELY explorer the whole world after lv20 Once u can start Flying.
Perfect World, You can also fly wherever you like, if u choose wings race u can start flying and explorer whole world right from the begining.
As for Costumization, i lol'ed here, did u ever played Perfect World? Because it was the first mmo to have a costumization system that everything is possible to change in ur body, but Aion is a bit improved tbh.
I'm not defending the guy who wants to tear Aion down, im just not a fan boy and know what is right and what is not, fortunetly im not blind.
Im a great fan of Aion , and been waiting for it since 2006 lol. I love Aion. SO don't get me wrong.
The problem is : North Americans, wich include USA, Canadians and Mexicans folks think that if one MMORPG isn't successful in North America, then it's not successful...
I'm sorry my dear North Americans friends, the world do not turn just around North America, there's other countries wich are much bigger in size with a much larger population playing MMORPGs.
If one game isn't popular in North America, but is in Asia... it is still successful.
Aion is successful in Asia at the moment, so stop asking if it will be successful here... nobody knows until it's out of beta and in everyone's hands!
I do not belive in ghosts, therefore I will not belive in mediums either.... and we have way too many mediums-wannabe in the MMORPGs community.

I do not think Aion will be the success has mentioned on these boards. I can only speak for the EU(UK) market, so far Aion is travelling well below the radar, no advertisements, no features, previews in the big PC games magazines or online sites. Compare that with AoC and WAR and the WoW, LOTRO expansions you would get regular updates on the progress upto the release. A couple of months before release you would get big features (monthly in the mags) telling you about these games. I know only of Aion due to reading these boards, none of my friends know anything about it. Just my opinion but Aion will be lucky to reach half the amount of box sales compared with WAR and AoC at release (UK). Hopefully word of mouth will increase the games subs over the long term and the euro game sites and mags pick the game up and give it some much needed press.
Just one more thing. To the people who state that Aion should have the best MMO launch in the western market for the last few years, I agree. If it don't the devs need a good slapping. You cannot compare launchs like LOTRO, WoW, WAR and AoC etc to Aions launch, it's been released in Asia for nearly a year, most of the normal launch problems and bugs should have been sorted in that time. In that time it should be in a polished and nearly bug free state. Lastly I do hope the game is a success. Myself I'm going to wait a few weeks after launch before I decide to buy it, I've been burnt a few times these last few years rushing to buy a MMO on launch day.
I can't see this game being massively popular in the west after the first few months. People from wow will go back for the expansion, many will get bored of the same old thing and being ganked by no-life hardcore players.
The fact that the game was released in Korea a while ago hurts its image in the west since a lot of people assume its yet another Korean grinder, and tbh they aern't really wrong.

It seems that awards mean nothing in this business.
