I love how much info this guy has on a game that he has never played.
Really you know exactly how challenging encounters are without ever playing the game?
In an mmorpg where the "tankiest" character gets basically 1 shoted by an aoe in 2 seconds in a fight you KINDA can speculate that it has a reasonable amount of difficulty.
This is not random shit im making up, its in the god dam videos.
really tankiest? I thought they were done with the holy trinity?
What's this? Oh I see you are solely believing a video, not taking into accuont that maybe the character sucked, or purposely let himself die, or who knows whatever reason. You solely believe it was because it was challenging, lol I see
GW is not a pure MMO, it's all instanced. Therefore will have a better graphics than others like Vindictus.
GW1 in terms of quality is still the 2nd best mmo after wow, everything else is 3rd rate. Which is a sad. But has a three expansions for a reason.
$60 + cashshop sounds like greed. Everyone knows Cashop mmos are crap but hey maybe the game is THAT good they have the right to do so.
LOL. I thought GW1 was so bad that I didn't believe the GW2 hype for a really long time. A few months ago I started wavering back and forth between being convinced GW2 might be a great MMO, occassionally even jumping onto the hype bandwagon. Last couple months as details emerged about GW2 I have fallen hard off the bandwagon again and now I have just a general distaste (revulsion even) over what Anet is doing with the cash shop.
But I still don't and will never understand what people saw in GW1. I would literally rank it as one of the 10 worst games I have ever played. Not 10 worst MMOS, but 10 worst games period. The UI was so bad that when you even walked on a small hill the camera would peg to the ground and you couldn't even look around. It was the most amateur interface I have ever seen to this day. And I play roguelikes LOL.

So becuase now we have people with more HP and armor than others suddenly the holy trinity is back?
Doesnt matter if the character sucked, warriors got the most HP and armor out of all the classes and he got down to 1% of hp in 2 seconds. Yes he could have evaded them because there was a window of about 1 sec to react.
For me thats shows that you just cant go into the motions and set in autopilot. Seing as how MMO s are today thats a LOT of challgenge for the genre
I know he didnt do any of the things you are saying i didnt acount for cause its god dam totalbiscuit and when anything happens that he had something to do with he explains so, he just that kind of commentator.
I fully expect that there will be some features that will not meet my expectations, but there are so many elements of GW2 game design that I'm excited about that they would have to fail at a lot of them to fall short of the general hype. On paper, the design is phenominal, but they still have to prove it in the implimentation and not drop the ball on too many previously announced features as they get closer to launch.
Originally posted by Somsbal I never said you can't have a different opinion, just try not making them sound like facts.
Hmm, well I guess I could state that this is just my own opinion. Oh wait, I already did. Several times. I can avoid saying that my opinion is fact.... but since I never EVER said my opinions were fact, well, I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe stop thinking I'm trying to state facts even though I've put up several disclaimers that this is just my opinion (and the minority at that). Should I put IMHO at the end of every sentence for you?
I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

the reason it doesnt live up to the hype for me is the auto 80 fully skilled fully geared chars and the item shop
I really think the item shop is a complete disaster and has turned MANY gamers away from GW2 who might otherwise have purchased it. Seeing the way the game is built though ("built from ground up with microtransactions in mind") and the item shop items they are proposing, they will more than make up for these box purchase losses via microtransactions. But it really is a shame they turned this game into such a crass cash shop money grab. They might as well put a sign on top of the mystic chests in game that say "Visit the cash shop TODAY!"

I wasn't always negative against GW2. For example:
There are many other positive posts I had made in the past. As for why I post a lot about GW2 still despite having become very negative on it? Simple, it is the hot topic of the day. I used to post a lot in SWTOR forums as well back when that was in hype mode. Once GW2 is released and the hype moves to another game, I will most likely be posting there. Or if I find an MMO that I'm happy with I'll be playing and not posting at all...
And if you want to know why I turned from teetering on the edge of embracing the hype for GW2 and being very against it? It is the very crass cash shop details, with very pay2win (for RvRvR) and very grind for cash shop's sake implemented in game. I find the cash shop repugnant.

If I could only tell you how misinformed and ridiculous you sound
The hype is never real. The sooner you learn that, the happier you'll be.
Better to have low expectations and be pleasantly suprised.
While this post is incredibly cynical, and maybe right for the wrong reasons, I have to agree.
Every MMO is hyped, crazy hyped. Like Halo hyped. Getting taken in by that means no game will ever live up to your expectations. Like WAR, AoC and SWOTOR before it, GW2 has been on the hype train for... years now.
The game might be great, wonderful even. But you won't know till you try it out yourself. Until then I suggest people try not to take anything said (good or bad) too much to heart.
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

Here's some advice: Be cautiously optimistic before playtesting the game at a friend's account or before buying it and logging in for the first time.
Then you cannot be disappointed. After all it is just a game from some developers.
