And if he lies or not was the point since you based your entire argument around it when responding to me.
no him liying was not the point nor the suggestion it was merely an example of possible reasons.
You are being deliberately difficult and I am going to have to try and move away from that.
I have been known to be difficult. I have also been known to cut through the bullshit and call people on their crap as well.
so are you saying I am a liar when I say my point was to use that as an option of possiblites and NOT suggesting he did or did not lie I have no idea.
you are saying I am being dishonest in saying that, that I actually said something else? is that what you are tell me here?
Take my meaning as you will but you seem awfully wound up.
why would you want me to take your meaning in a way that is different then you mean? I am asking for clarification will be you please clarify before we get to far off topic? I will take non-clarification to mean you think I am a liar
If you want clarification see my other post about what I think about the pay to win nature of selling ships now. As for your other point no I wasn't calling you a liar I was just stating you based most of the post about CR being a liar so I responded. If I misunderstood then my apologies
Unfortunately, you are guilty of a lack of knowledge because you are continuing to debate about a game that is already in a releasable state. It's released. You can rubber stamp it today and send it out as it is. That's essentially what ED did. They axed a bunch of features at the end in order to hit a particular date. So sorry to disappoint, but you're wrong. You've not show a bit of objectivity, you've aligned yourself directly with Derek Smart who is essentially on the chaotic anti-SC side of this, and your arguments never show a bit of objectivity. You still insist that a game that has been released to tens of thousands already is doomed for failure. That's not knowledgeable or objective.
Love the people who thinks that judges are fools. And let's be serious here... you don't need even degree, of anything, to know that what you just said above is retard. People who does not know the alphabet wouldn't be fooled in such way... I guess you are drunk, so I will give you the benefit of the doubt here and forgive/forget this ridiculous answer.
But if this is your current normal mindset, you are leaving in a parallel world my friend, without clue about how the world works. Or just created this new planet putting you and CIG inside, where the world reality does not work there, as work for everybody else. But don't fell bad (later, when finally you woke up to the reality). It's going to be painful but life continues. I know. I've been there. Everyone was fooled one day, by different passions, to defend something with the same kind of "logic" and "objectivity" that you shown or the level of "proof" that you require and fight against really having it, because it puts in serious danger your passion/beliefs, making you the fool that is always hard to admit in these circumstances, but everyone was, or if not yet, will be. And who does not admit is the worst kind of fool, the one who never live the denial phase.
I just hope that people don't go too far when, not if, this flop, since you are not the first, and probably not the last, that I found stating similar nonsense logic when discussing this game.

ok fair enough.
my point was very simply when try to judge on what is going to happen in the future taking the option with the least amount of evidence rather than one with at least some suggestive evidence seems to be the less logical approach

I have no idea if he lies or not, that isnt even the point. I think you might have completely misunderstood me.
You base your judgements on the future based on
A. your dreamy wish or B. evidence you have before you although limited.
So the only evidence we have thus far is CR saying that it will not be a pay to win model 'by mistake' of allowing players to buy ships. So with that being the ONLY evidence on the table at the moment why would you think its the exact opposite and instead just randomly make up something?
The only evidence we have is that there is currently a cash shop. That is a fact and evidence.
CR saying it will not be pay to win model is not evidence. This assumes aposteriori knowledge. We only know facts by examination and we can't examine something in the future. Unless you can see the future, this is not evidence.
No one can say if it will be pay to win or have a cash shop. At this point it has a cash shop.

Sure there are some things to make us worry about the company, but that's true with everything that isn't a sure thing, and with the sure things, it probably should be.
No, without a court order, no company in the entire world is going to let outsiders go through their books, stop drooling about it, it won't happen.
The entire scope of this game has drastically inflated from it's original hopes due to the massive amounts of funding (and stretch goals) that was achieved. Obviously, that takes longer to make, and doubling the people does not halve the time required, it doesn't work that way. For that matter, almost no projects ever release on their pre-start estimated dates, unless they were pushed out too earlier by marketing and that always results in total $#$% that nobody wants.
On a side note, the more stuff in a game, the vastly more complicated it becomes to build and test properly. Of course if you want a bug filled mess, there are companies out there that do that on a regular basis.
I'm an optimistic pessimist, I hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. Too bad there are a lot of pure haters out there, I guess it's a form of sadism or schadenfreude on their part, but whatever. They don't seem to be all that familiar with software development, and want to project their sick fantasies on everyone else. I don't care if they think/feel that way, but their attacks are just plain nuts and are hitting the backers, even if unintentionally, and they are generating backlash because of it.

I want a break down of how many ships models and types they have sold, it has to be close to 100. I then want a count of how many are in the demo...alpha. I would bet that the number anyone has seen an in game example of is pitifully low. I think I have seen 3 different types from the streams I have watched. Now wheter those are multiplied due to the cut and paste and calling them 'model's or not can be debated like Hornet 1 versus hornet 2 or whatever. IMO its a hornet and a single ship but if they want to count it as two sobeit. But even doing that easy street method I doubt there are many options PLAYABLE right now.
After we establish that are these ships environmentally what they claim? as in , they hve x amount of room, do those room exist? Can you 'explore' you ship? Does it have the cargo space they claim? Sleeping quarters? Crew quarters? Any and all of that? Or is it a skin and a cockpit? These things ARE pertinent to the discussion of STAR CITIZEN and star citizen alone you can deflect with all the stupid shit you want but what matters is are people getting what they paid for? Or is it more lipstick on a pig?

I wonder if you know enough about the history of this project to realize that, in your argument, you ended just calling Chris Roberts, the CEO of Cloud Imperium Games and supposed idealist of Star Citizen, not familiar with software development and he just projected his sick fantasies on everyone else.

in the course of a weekend I have gone from neutral to fan.
Reasons for this are two fold.
1. the latest results I have seen in the game watching videos 2. the polarized opposition has forced me to take sides. 3. nobody is disputing that spending 2k on a virtual ship is silly. everyone agrees with that.

1. watching videos is one thing go watch some streams or better yet the guy making the game watch his stream when he (tries) to play. He cant even get his computer running.
2. yup being contrarian is the cool thing to do and how I make all my financial decisions
3. No not everyone thinks its silly some peopel are defending it and justifying it with the stupid shit I mentioned.
Nothing to see here I guess. Youre the reason why criminals like Hillary Clinton and joker like Donald Trump are leading candidates to lead the US in a year. Not trying to be guilty of deflecting this into a political debate just using it as an apropos example of how backwards thinking is used to make decisions a lot more important than funding some conman.
$15,000 for a digital ship... that's effing insane. Anyone who spends that is out of their fookin gourd. I seem to remember some other game being made by a popular dev from the 80's and 90's charging $2000 for digital "land".
It seems to be that if you are a dev form the 80's and 90's and you are going to make a game you crowd fund based on your old school rep then sell code for thousands and thousands of dollars and keep your game in perpetual Greenlit Alpha on Steam...
*snore* fell asleep after you mentioned the 2014 deliver date. Take this stick, there's the dead horse. Once you're done with that one, if you've got energy left you can take on the whole $2-3 million dollar issue. Been covered ad nauseam and if you can't accept those answers then no answer will.
Enter a whole lot of speculative information that is supported by zero fact and TADA!!!! Every Anti-SC argument in the past month.

Oh, and don't forget to have fun.
So wait: you're ignoring where he refutes your point about it being a "releasable state" game by cherry-picking an old issue he mentions in his post and completely writing off everything else based on that one cherry-picked issue? O.o
The feature creep argument can be justified by saying the backers "wanted" it (though I would find it interesting to see how they arrived at this consensus opinion, just to double-check), but you ignored his very particular response to your claim that SC is in a releasable state.. And I'd have to agree with him. It's nowhere near a releasable state. And it isn't anywhere near where E:D was at its launch.
No, it's not polished. However, there are plenty-a-game that have released in worse states. There are plenty of games that have shipped recently in a worse state.
I'm not so sure. At least, not any game that is so well-funded. From what I understand, the core of the game isn't even complete. You can jump in a ship and fly around, you can walk around a largely empty and useless station... With player characters that are all the same placeholder. That does not seem nearly an acceptable release-state game for $100 million dollars and counting. Project Gorgon is in a more feature-complete state with a miniscule fraction of the manpower and funding..
If Alpha 2.0 is release-state.. Color me unimpressed to the extreme.

Yes in my comments about it being little more than a digital demo I forgot to mention that small tidbit.
That whatever it is our definitions can vary, it is, at least according to CR/CIG, enough to fulfill the kickstarter ToS (which has been rewritten at least once) and therefore is enough to null and void any future refunds.

Best part is read the comments in that article from over a year and a half ago and its basically the same shit people are saying today (with another 80 or so more million added to the pockets of these guys).
It is clear CR designed Wing Commander and he is designing Star Citizen. But he never coded and created either game. This is clear when he tried to play SC during a live event. You can give him full credit for design but not the making of the game's. Because he designed it, that is why his name is on the box of Wing Commander. Like it was stated before he wanted to keep changing WC but people at Origin put a gag on him so they could get the game made and out the door.
That is Roberts worse persona and right now which has been stated before why SC is having a tough time getting to the end. There is no one around to keep him on track. He has a habit of always wanting to change add and control everything. That is why his other company never released a game and ended up burning to the ground.
In 2013 they have video's of character creation made and explained how it would work. Yet at this time there is nothing of it in SC Alpha 2.0 or 2.1. CR seems to be good at keeping the hype going for the game and raking in more money but that is where it ends. I do believe Roberts have missed his real calling and that would be politics. He has a way of making some people believe anything he says.
Now we come to the money for digital ships. To a lot of us this is just right out of an episode of the Twilight zone. Hard to believe people actually are buying into this and the reasons they use of why they do it. They ignore the evidence of him paying for his wanna be actress wife to become a real actress when she has already failed that back in Hollywood. Using the money to make voice overs of famous people to put in game. Yet I was always under the impression character creation and other game design would come way before that. Roberts always wanted to be a big time director and producer but sadly he failed at that, yet it shows he just can't accept it and is trying to make it happen with this game.
Now saying all this and before people say am just full of hate and jealous of the game and people that can throw money into SC. That is not the case, when Kickstarter first came around I thought it was a great idea but never believed it would lead to something like this. This has a lot of evidence of being something not on the up and up. Now we have him changing the TOS yet leaving the date of the original kickstarter TOS. So he doesn't have to give anyone their money back. that leads me and others thinking he is starting to run out of cash and has to keep what he has and try and keep the money coming in. I would love to see the people stop buying digital ships just so we can see who is right us or them and he is or isn't throwing money away. Time to wrap this up and sit back and watch the show. Where this will lead is anyone's guess, mine is it won't be good for backers, gamer's or Roberts.

Chris Roberts: "It would be foolish to release an unstable build."
The Emperor just needs a XBox controller, and maybe some new clothes.
Oh and while I'm on it ... for my projects I use a 100Bit+ encrypted Password (or 2factor if possible) and he just shouts his PW during a livestream in the camera?

Your missing a lot more out of it, you have 17 open world mission, open world FPS, avatar to ship to space transition, ship repair stations, scavenging and many other things. The 100 mil was only made now, after 3 years, this isn't the same as when most games get the money upfront. A guess would be they only used around 70 - 80 mill to get to this point because they where already talking about the 2.0 before they hit that mark and we haven't actually looked at the technical part which fits all whats in 2.0 together, which is the bulk of the work.
While Project Gorgon is a really good game, it's not trying to push the boundary's of PC gaming, it's an old school style of game.
I think what they'e doing is being very VERY underestimated if it's being compared to the scope of Project Gorgon, and I don't mean that in any disrespect to the PG at all.

Is all that in the game RIGHT NOW? As in when they said you cant get anymore refunds?
If not then its just more deflecting bullshit.
I am doubtful its open world because from what I can see there is nothing persistent about the world. Its a space station where you respawn over and over again (usually after you crash out of the game)

I get that the scope of the game is large and, by reasonable definitions, unprecedented.. But then again, the scope was only allowed to grow that large by CR and company. The onus still falls on them to fulfill the promises of that scope. Otherwise, even if legally they've released "a game," I would call this endeavor a failure. He made promises while raking in cash that he has yet to keep.
I still have a hard time understanding how an Alpha 2.0 equates to a release-state product. Specifically, the disjointed parts that I've seen described by sites such as this one and other covering the game. It's an MMORPG in which character customization is non-existent. There's no economy because trading (as far as I know) is a system that hasn't even been implemented in the most basic form. Entire game systems are still missing. And some, such as trading, could be reasonable considered to be essential systems to the complete game. From what I've read, optimization is absolutely abysmal. One cannot, in good conscience, call that a release-state game.
Certainly, they've "released" an alpha build to backers.. But that build should not he considered by anyone to be the "release" of Star Citizen as described by CR and CIG. If so... Again, I would have to classify the game a complete failure according to CR's own vision and the scope described not only by CIG but the backers themselves.

These things ARE pertinent to the discussion of STAR CITIZEN and star citizen alone you can deflect with all the stupid shit you want but what matters is are people getting what they paid for? Or is it more lipstick on a pig?
Now, promises and advertising claim that won't be one day, who knows when or if.

interesting.
so all cash shops are pay to win?
and where is this cash shop you speak of?
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Please do not respond to me
Reasons for this are two fold.
1. the latest results I have seen in the game watching videos
2. the polarized opposition has forced me to take sides.
3. nobody is disputing that spending 2k on a virtual ship is silly. everyone agrees with that.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
Please do not respond to me
2. yup being contrarian is the cool thing to do and how I make all my financial decisions
Ugh... anyone who plays or played this game will know that, right now, and since the players put their hands on it, is pay to win.
If Alpha 2.0 is release-state.. Color me unimpressed to the extreme.
Welcome to StarCitizen!
When you have cake, it is not the cake that creates the most magnificent of experiences, but it is the emotions attached to it.
The cake is a lie.
That whatever it is our definitions can vary, it is, at least according to CR/CIG, enough to fulfill the kickstarter ToS (which has been rewritten at least once) and therefore is enough to null and void any future refunds.
Chris Roberts: "It would be foolish to release an unstable build."
Best part is read the comments in that article from over a year and a half ago and its basically the same shit people are saying today (with another 80 or so more million added to the pockets of these guys).

Enjoy and know the truth always comes to light!
Oh and while I'm on it ... for my projects I use a 100Bit+ encrypted Password (or 2factor if possible) and he just shouts his PW during a livestream in the camera?

While Project Gorgon is a really good game, it's not trying to push the boundary's of PC gaming, it's an old school style of game.
I think what they'e doing is being very VERY underestimated if it's being compared to the scope of Project Gorgon, and I don't mean that in any disrespect to the PG at all.

"I was just thinking that the next sick scheme will probably be loans if you ain't a whale.
Don't worry if you can't pay in advance, you can pay your debt each month for 12 months long with an interest of 22%.
And a free zombie hat included"
If not then its just more deflecting bullshit.
I am doubtful its open world because from what I can see there is nothing persistent about the world. Its a space station where you respawn over and over again (usually after you crash out of the game)
