So... it's true, that is a 16,000usd espresso machine at a CIG office in California, which has about 20 ( ? ) employees on any given day, and is evidence of spending malfeasance? or ?
I know you try to discredit or dismiss everything. Is this your way of saying I said something truthful?
edit: Also you seem really mad about the espresso machine.
$16,000 to buy? Wow that is expensive! Such a waste!!!
Although.....
20 people having 3 cups a day is 60 cups a day. 60 cups a day is 300 cups a week. 300 cups a week is 15,600 a year. 15,600 cups a year is 46,800 cups in a 3 year period (the period to write off the item).
So the average cost of the machine per cup is just over $0.34.
The average cup of coffee in the US is apparently $2.70 which means a saving of $2.36 per cup. Even if you add in the cost of the coffee, sugar, milk and a spoon (assuming buying a spoon isn't stretching the budget) it is still a cost effective machine and the staff should feel supported.
Oh, back to being angry.....
Damn you corporate types caring for your employee's well being and saving money at the same time!!!
So are the employees throwing 2.50 into a jar every cup they take? If not then your rationale is ridiculous.
Sorry I forget you all work in shocking conditions where you don't get paid minimum wage, don't have paid holiday and your employee's are arses who treat you like dirt.
I must have had some pretty fucking awesome employers in my time because, even though I don't drink coffee, there were refreshments made available to staff at every place. Hell I have worked at 2 offices where the tea and coffee was free as well as the vending machine which meant my cans of diet coke were free.
Get out of those sweat shops and get a real job...or just stop getting all bent out of shape because someone gets free coffee while they work.
Free coffee is great (I'll take Diet Pepsi though thanks) but did he really need to drop 15-16k on a coffee machine when I am sure there were other models that were cheaper and worked just as well?
As for who gets it if they fold, well probably whatever business that comes along that wants to buy it for probably 1000-2000 dollars lol

Edit.
And the point of my stupid sum (I pulled it out of my arse to show just how stupid this conversation is) was to show that the company is saving the employee's money if nothing else and seeing as those guys are making the game I think they fucking well DESERVE free coffee. I bought the game, spent my £25 so my vote is give the guys free coffee and screw the scrouge types who have no interest in the game anyway.
Stop trolling, they could have bought a 50 dollar coffee machine, spending 16K on a coffee maker is just why the critics are critical it shows how stupidly they waste money, just because they have the money.
Bottmline is as myopic and wannabe as the Roberts are there is no way in hell they would have ever spent 16K on a coffee maker but since it wasnt their money they did. THATS the problem. I know youre smart enough to realize that if not then I really dont know what to say. But its obvious youre trolling because no one is that stupid.
As for the guy who mentioned leasing, yeah LEGIT BUSINESSES do it because its a tax write off, I really dont know what this thing is they have going now. But I am sure theyre going to try and NOT pay taxes anywhere, that is where the rubber will meet the road especially if they have been charging taxes on those ships they have been giving away to people who 'donate' to them.
One thing at least clear to me is the money has gone to CR's head. If he would throw this much on a coffee machine what do you guys think he may blow on his one passion we all know he has? I really hope am wrong but am sure we are getting closer to finding out once and for all.
Thing is no matter how you backers whiteknights whatever you want to be called have treated me and others for talking up about the problem's with this company. I do feel sorry for all that may end up getting screwed by him.

Crowdfund money is treated as income and you have to pay taxes for it, it doesn't matter if you name it 'donation' for that matter.

If I was running CIG, I would have used that 16k to hire a hooker for a year, now that would motive those geeks much more than coffee!
You did a good job Bob, go to the back and visit the hooker for one hour. or Ok guys, first person to finish their ship artwork this morning gets a handy from the hooker!

"Check out my second wall mural that went up today at our CIG LA office. The render was created at 10K wide and printed out at 14 feet by 10 feet. The print quality holds up really beautifully. All of the ships were modeled and designed by a whole team of people, I just did the huge render. It is definitely a lot of fun working on Star Citizen."
Now tell me, didn't Roberts say all the money would only go toward the game? So if one goes for 10k to 15k, that would be close to 30k spent on something that has nothing to do with making the game! Not hating or trolling here just confused to what Roberts said he would do with backer money. Once game is done does he take it to his house? Plus wonder where other one is?
So you think sticking people in a boring bland one colour office with no decor or thematic reminder of what they are doing is good for creativity.
Thank god you are only an Armchair Dev, I am a skeptic of Star Citizen but this is by far the most contrived, ill informed and outright trollish whine I have ever seen.

CIG has this whole thing so convoluted, I'm not surprised people are confused.
