I had millions of units of rare resources, which I spent years tracking, mining and hunting to make uber armor for those who could afford it, and good armor for those who couldn't. over night I wass left out in the cold without even a reach around. Over 2 years of my life taken and not even consideration for crafters who were the backbone of an economy. Could not care about the issues that have been discussed over the year or so since NGE. The old game was flawed but it was the game I loved and poured my admittly geek crafter soul into..... won't go back cause once bitten hell you know the rest.

wow i know EXACTLY how u feel! i spent my time in SWG mastering ranger so i could help our guild's master armorer (lol im actually serious) and i was always the one that led the hunts for hard to find animals and excellent resources... that is what i really miss about SWG hunting with and helping out the guild i also will never go back for basically the same reason u said

In fact I have NEVER seen any sort of comments made by the Dev team or Producers, President that the game is doing well and or gaining customers or is some sort of success... please by all means tell Smedley that because I don't think he even knows it.

Now ask if they held thier playerbase? Ask if they have loyal customers and have done well by them? Ask them if they consider thier product a good one with promise and has a good track reccord? Ask them if they had good reviews and recieved some good awards for it?

Ah, Corbantis... I have a nice riverfront house a couple K SSW of Keren. Put in over a year's worth of maintenance in case SOE decided to turn it back on. But I doubt I'll ever see it again since only a pre-NGE game (better yet, pre-CU with fixes) would be worth playing.

Yes Vets that failed the first time or came back. Some that are there are not there for the NGE but to chat... even I know that.
So many people came back that are NOW vets due to them leaving in the CU and then coming back, getting Jedi of course and now being able to wear big pants.

It really doesnt get more cut-n-dry than that, when you have the president of SOE saying that the NGE was a mistake and if given the chance he would not do it again. I fail to understand how people would still debate this, by no means of measurement can the release or performance of the NGE be considered a success.
What could've been a success however was the PreCU, if all the time and development resources wasted on the CU and NGE had instead been spent on improving and fixing the original game.
Why now, even with all the current dev attempts to bring back prenge features, is the NGE still doomed in the end? Simple really, there's no amount of fixes, patches, or revamps that can fully bring back what has sadly been killed by the CU/NGE, the amazing player community that used to exist there.

Have you looked at the forums? I'd say the majority of the posts there are by purple names, ie Vets.
Yes Vets that failed the first time or came back. Some that are there are not there for the NGE but to chat... even I know that.
So many people came back that are NOW vets due to them leaving in the CU and then coming back, getting Jedi of course and now being able to wear big pants.

That's the problem with discussion forums, lousy people have discussions on them instead of just asking and answering questions...
LOL even the name of this topic makes me laugh. Since when had SWG been in the present? One big update and everythings gravy?
SWG is a fading shadow in the online gaming world. Stay there if you want, but don't complain in 6 months time when you log in and find your all on your own.
It's too easy to take down this game, and way too much effort to try and support it.

And thanks for posting your Smed email Isk, very informative for those that haven't yet seen his (and other suits) remarks on that very subject, the failure of the NGE.
It really doesnt get more cut-n-dry than that, when you have the president of SOE saying that the NGE was a mistake and if given the chance he would not do it again. I fail to understand how people would still debate this, by no means of measurement can the release or performance of the NGE be considered a success.
What could've been a success however was the PreCU, if all the time and development resources wasted on the CU and NGE had instead been spent on improving and fixing the original game.
Why now, even with all the current dev attempts to bring back prenge features, is the NGE still doomed in the end? Simple really, there's no amount of fixes, patches, or revamps that can fully bring back what has sadly been killed by the CU/NGE, the amazing player community that used to exist there.
