Well he pretty much lost this one but it really should not have gone down like this.. but so be it.

He pretty much lost his whole debate in that sense.

I give Smed props today... he did not leave me hanging.  (man it is hard to say that too)

ok i didnt read the whole thread b4 i got kinda mad and decided to say this:

Just because they changed *some* elements of the game to be "good again" does not change the fact that they FORCED the NGE on people with no real [good] reason to dump such a POS on their player base.

also u guys keep saying that its supposed to be the "same" well i still dont see all of the professions everyone had when i considered the game "good" and IMO crafting will NEVER be the same as it was and it will never really be that useful as a profession, once SOE travelled down the loot road its not just a simple "add good stats to crafting items" as people tend to think but i guess they dont really care if you have really been getting the BEST loot because this will be the 3rd (or fourth i lost count) time they have completely destroyed something about the game (whether its good or bad)

i for one will never forget what the NGE did even if they did provide "rollback" servers i still would never resubscribe for the simple fact that they dont really deserve to have subscribers theres just those people that just cant leave the game that continue to play no matter what really happens.

I just got this, as you can see I will post it as is.

    With what he said..

Please do not flame it, he was honest today.. give him that and understand I think he knows he made a mistake by now.

    Here you go...

(Portion of the email we have had going on for some time lol)

Understand I DO NOT condone what he chose to do, this does not change. But today.. he at least seemed very genuine to me.

(This is backwards due to the email )

    Mike,
Thanks for the email. I'm certainly never going to deny I said something. I always assume if I'm talking to one of our players via email (unless they ask that it's kept quiet) that they can feel free to communicate whatever they wish. It's never bothered me, but then again I think the trick is just to be straight.. that way I never get caught having to deny something. People may not like what I have to say all the time (particularly in this case).. and I may just plain be wrong sometimes, but at least I want to be straightforward and candid.
I do hope someday you'll play another one of our games,
    Thanks.

Don't bother -- crap , this was a NGEr he emailed... I have no idea how this could be spun..lol
I am fresh out of zings for the day on this one... due to Mr. Smedley just flat out telling Baron what he said to me.
    lol

Why should it shut Tracola up?  He's not magically going to stop having fun with the game because of what Smedley said in his emails.

Nope but listen, I am done proving the NGE is a failure , was a failure and was a mistake.   I think I pretty much proved my point and trust me when I say -- I was not kidding, I kept my word, I was not joking.

Now people got to see crap that maybe should have been posted in a better manner but so be it.

Obriak You cannot sell me this bag of goods, You cannot even sell it to the President of SOE... so dont even freaking bother in telling me the NGE is some great game.

The president of the company begs to differ, so do about 200k players I would think.

No one is trying to sell you anything here.  The OP was saying how HE enjoyed the game, not how you should.  You don't have to believe him, but to say you ""taught him something" or whatever it was that you were saying is thinking a bit too highly of yourself.  What exactly are you trying to do?  Convince people that are playing the game that they're not having fun?  That the game shouldn't be fun to them anymore because Smedley repeated something he's already said before (although more to the point this time)?

Not that I don't believe Fad when he says he enjoys it, I've always respected him that way and we're all entitled to our wonderful oppinions and as I said before, I'll never be completely opposed to trying the game again.
When I did try it, it just seemed strange and unsual, I'm not the type of person that deals with change very well, that's a flaw for sure and NGE was radically different from the game I cared for and played for so long, it was hard to re-establish that bond, that feeling of permenance inside a star wars universe. As a RP'er, I have a hard time defining how myself as a character would just simply occupy herself doing either nothing but dancing or nothing but crafting or shooting and hitting stuff for that matter.
Oh well, interesting thread though everybody.

I had some serious roleplay character development for Marguul before the NGE hit that made it real hard for awhile to find some identity again from a roleplay aspect. Actually now though it's stronger then ever even though I rarely get to roleplay.

Also as I said you can have 2 toons per server so you could craft and dance still. It would just be with 2 people. I miss my skill tree's something fierce but I did find fun again even though it's not like it was before. It allows me to play in the Star Wars universe and that is what I am craving right now and it's still filling that desire for me.

Trader revamp may change all that for me, we will see. I don't take well to change either. I stopped playing for about half a year because I just couldn't stand it and didn't even want to see it. However LEC just can't seem to put anything out that gives me anything close of a Star Wars experience to SWG still.

So I take the good with the bad and have fun where I find it. At the moment it is in getting ace in all 3 of the factions.

I played NGE for 4 1/2 months as a split character, so it IS playable but like you said, it just was not the same.  My characters TekBacca and Cruuz were not even close as replacements for Bradshaw Lightyear - Hybrid Crafter / Warrior.

Never said it was cool, actually I think it's stupid. I was directly addressing Shae's concern of not being able to go collect resources anymore because you cannot participate in combat without taking a 1 hit death from a bunny rabbit.

Lol, I think they used that phrase thesmelves.  (Titanic) one.. also I think I have my answer on what the NGE is today.

I like to think they horse himself decided to talk perse and tell it like it really is.

On the flipside though, at least people can know what the execs and president think of the NGE... THIS way there is not really a debate on if its a success or failure... it is without a doubt a failure.

I like to invest my time and money into things that are not pronounced a failure or mistake myself.. just kinda helps with the common sense of things.  lol

You seem to be a victim of "valuing what others say." Because the Execs and other people say that the game is crap and unfun, it must be so for you too. You must jump on the band wagon or be damned to hell for not having common sense.

Well there are those of us that could care less what others say, including the Execs. SWG NGE is fun to many people, so they play it. To these people, it doesn't matter if the game failed by SOE or your standards or if the Pre-CU game is better or not. What matters to these people, is that when they log on after they get home from work, that they will have fun.

The majority has spoken about the game and so have the Execs, but that doesn't mean everyone should go and quit if they find the game fun. What is it with people in this world today that feel that they have to do what everyone else is doing? What is it about people that value what others say so much? It is common sense to play something that you find fun. It is dumb to jump ship just because someone or the Execs said it was a failure. Like another poster says, "One mans trash is anothers treasure." People need to learn to think for themselves and make decisions for themselves and to stop making decisions, just because another person said this or that.

Smed and the execs stating it is a failure just justifies ALL I said since they decided to push the CU.... the nge.

Justifies the over 80% polled that the nge sucks and to not do it.

Justifies the over 10k signatures on the e-petition saying "give us our game back"

Justifies what we've been talking about for the past 10 months.

But here is the problem. A lot of the NGE players wouldn't argue with what you have said. So I TOLD YOU SO really doesn't apply to them. They already knew that the NGE is a failure to SOE and compared to Pre-CU, but what I am saying is, people are still playing because it is fun to them. That is a good enough reason to play. It doesn't matter how right you are or how wrong Obraik is or whatever, because fun justifies playing the NGE. If people that play it are having fun, then who cares. Let them have fun and quit rubbing the shit in their face. It is childish. Aren't you all supposed to be the mature Pre-CU community? Than quit rubbing it in peoples faces like a child.

While I understand what your saying, I also know that since you DO NOT OWN SWG and it is a rented play time perse, that is different then a game you own or keep.

So while sure even the president, SOE and the execs say this is a failure and should not have ever happend, a mistake etc..  THIS ALSO should play a role in your investment and time spent, also noteworthy time with the game etc..

This is not jumping ship, this is just flat out being smart.   If you think that this is some sort of a game that you can choose the destiny of it your wrong, as proven now by SOE of course.

Thinking for yourself does include common sense with value in a product.   In short, if your told a product is bad and is a failure, or a mistake... odds are your common sense kicks in and you think twice about buying it.

This is not (A choice) this is just common sense choices made over all. This is not a "what everyone else is doing deal".. this is just good ole' common sense.

BUT HEY, as I have said before.. it takes all kinds of people in the world.  Crap there is people that think that Osama is nice, Saddam is fair and the space shuttle is fake.

I can tell you this though, if this info had came out/or was said 3 months after the NGE launched or closer to the 6 month mark I would be willing to be that less people would even be playing now.

Knowing that thier game investment time is not worth much, or could change now at the drop of a dime more so now then before.

What this should do is nothing more then warn anyone wanting to jump in now, showing them what is thought of the game, showing them what they makers of it think and then give them a idea of the games promise and future.

I think it's safe to say... after those comments, you just have to use common sense on that.

Be glad this is not a medical firm or company lol.

I understand this as well.   It does not argue it, BUT it does let them know what we were saying for 10 months was not bullshit, it lets them know what we were trying to stop and posted about 100k times was legit.  It lets them know they are in a product (While they may be having fun in it) IS NOT SUCCESS and is not by all accounts somthing to invest in with time or money.

If anything this is just a fact of the matter for them to see and then re-think or judge from there.

Hey look, we had the shit rubbed in our face many times, myself more times then I can count from the NGErs telling me how great it is and how it is going..   I told them they were wrong.   Looks like we know how this turned out.

None the less, if anything or if all this does is show them that we warned them and told them... not to mention and MOST IMPORTANTLY tried our hardest to stop this from happening then at least it does this.

I would be lying if I said it did not feel good for Smedley to cover for me, I would be lying if I said I did not feel it was good for him to just FLAT out tell you it is a failure, or a mistake.  While the intent was good, mind you it just is not a good product plain and simple.

The best thing about this whole mess is people learn from it, gamers, devs, presidents, marketing , everyone.

It's too bad we were the sheep that took the hit, but so be it.  Live and learn... I just hope this helps stop some of the shit about saying how great the NGE is..or some crap.   I just have to think people are smarter then that.

Look, pigs love to roll in mud and thier own shit... but it is still shit and it is still mud... so be it.

You seem to view playing the game as a business investment or something.  Difference here is I see it as something like renting a video from the store, or subbing for pay-TV.

You mean the 80% of the 1000 people that voted on the poll. I get so tired of everyone trying to twist that little fact.

    Edit: Missd a 0 on the 1000

Wait a second?  Are you saying that only 100 people voted against the NGE? On the SOE boards?????

Man, please say this is somthing else.

Actually, 0% voted against it because they never had polls for the NGE, only the CU ;)

Nope I am saying that 1000 people voted on the site and 800 of them voted against the CU before SOE pulled the poll. They said they removed it due to abuse. You can beleive that or not I don't care.

FACT however is that the poll only got 1000 votes, and 800 of them were against the CU.

80% of the PLAYERBASE never voted against the CU on the web poll.

No, but you see at one time a MMO or this game even was a INVESTMENT OF TIME and EFFORT.. it was more SIM based, this is gone so I will give you that.

In other words, it would not matter if you lost a life, item or anyting I think more so now then ever.

However, I am willing to bet that people find this game (Some at least) as a investment of thier gaming time.

Go to the Jedi boards and read them... post that they will lose thier Jedi due to a game change and see what happens... YOU will then see what is considered a "investment" perse.

This is not a FPS, capture the flag game, this was a game that you would grow in over time.  Well they took 90% of that out.  It is less SIM and more GO GO GO... so I guess it is less of a investment in that respect.

Nice catch O, I missed that one and just saw the 100 instead of the 1000 on his post.
