How many of these freaking TOR = Guild Wars / this is a single player online etc idiotic threads are gonna keep popping up? It has specifically been stated by the devs that instancing is nowhere near Guild Wars, that all mmo elements are there. None of the footage so far looks like it'll be a fully instanced experienced, in fact quite the contrary: only conversations are seen as instanced.
Oh wait, I forgot I was posting on mmorpg.com, where any game that doesn't promise to put all the fun behind a solid brick wall and give you a toothpick to break through, will get flamed to hell.
I think a better question is how many times do we have to provide the information to debunk their assumptions.

Your right this is MMORPG.com not onlinerpg.com. Most people here have high standards for MMOrpg's. SW:tor is an instance cut up game which most poeple including myself do not consider Massive. It should be a fun game tho just not mmo type fun.

Regardless of what ridiculous horkathane posts, there is no evidence supporting what he has said, and only evidence to the contrary. We know that there will not be meeting hubs but open expanse areas where you can see other players fighting and being able to team with them at random. So far only special areas such as flashpoints have been confirmed as instances... and for good reason too. Horkathane is quite possibly one of the worst posters on this site, and if that is doubted by anyone, just take a look at his post history. What was it last time, Champions online was the WoW killer? Come on now son, grow up.

I am very well aware that horkathane is full of BS. I actually got a warning in the CO board for laughing at him when he made the comment that CO is the WoW killer.
As for ToR I have not heard enough about end game to change my opinion that this game is going to be more like an MMO. From what I have read there using to many instances and thats why this game is getting so much -mmo hype. Its goin to be a great RPG without a doubt. Just not mmorpg fun

If by too many instances you mean the flashpoints, I can understand that, as everything following the storyline puts you in your own instance, but as stated there will be openworld missions, openworld areas, etc. The only real problem (that I would also understand) with taking the information that this will have everything a normal MMO has and more would be if you believe what BioWare is saying. I know in the past many companies have said one thing and done another, but it doesn't seem like that is the case with BioWare. Everything they've stated so far has been shown, or they've confirmed it is already in the game.
I think as we get closer to launch a lot of the non-believers fears will be addressed.

Can you provide a quote claiming the game to be heavily instanced, please.

I'm very interested in that as well, you seemed to have just went for that last bit of my post where I vented some frustration.
High standards for mmo's huh? Please do tell...
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

Ahh trick question greed, youll never see a quote from a dev in any game saying its going to be heavily instanced. But what you can find is where instances are talked about in reguards to what the main part of the game is about and that is story progression. Thats the number 1 feature being talked about. It takes a little more digging to find other info. I have yet to see anything really important coming from the world missions especially in how important they are, do you need them or can you just go through your story all the way to the end. Not a whole lot of info on end game either. I have a feeling that were looking at instanced zones for raiding absolutly nothing to back that up so take that with a grain of salt. I just find it hard to see your in your own little instance game doing your quests just to get done and getting thrown into this wide open world, doesnt happen like that.
Is there anything really wrong with it being an online RPG? Why do you guys get so worked up over something so trivial as a category. Without a strong focus on end game this game will be played like an online RPG. Its prime will be long over after 4 months of release. I have been around this genre long enough to see through most games. It will have a killer story but will lack what an MMO needs to last. You guys can sit here and tell yourself that its going to be the greatest MMO ever best of everything, but when reality gets here youll understand what I am saying.
Edit : to avoid confusion, I am a big SW fan, I have all the plans in the world to play this game.

Just so you know there's a sticky now at the top of the list to discuss this topic. Quick question for you though, why would they need both PVE and PVP servers if it's simply a co'op rpg?
