Been a fan of the MMORPG genre since 1999 when a friend talked me into trying EverQuest. I played EQ 5 years but tried several of the potential "EQ-killers" such as AO, DAoC, HZ, CoH, and EVE. Switched to EQ2 for a few months before taking the leap to WoW. Played WoW for 6 years. Made a return to EQ2 for a while. Tried AoC when it first game out. Went back to AoC two years later for a little bit. Finally gave up WoW a few months after the Cataclysm expansion and have not gone back. Took a 9 month break from the genre. Played through SWTOR story (Sith) and did some raiding. Dabbled in TERA for a few weekends. Played through TSW story (Templar) and all the dungeons. Been playing GW2 and looking at other games here and there.
The genre is dying. This whole thing started as a niche thing. MMORPG required a huge commitment and wasn't for everyone. But when things went mainstream like with World of Warcraft, we lost a bit of what made the genre interesting. Now every ne…
Honestly Time is the thing that is most missing from MMORPG's. It would be fantastic to see a game that was literally not the same on day 30 as it was on day 1 and if you weren't on when everything went crazy on day 15 you simply will never see tha…

$60 and $15 a month? get out of here. Even if the game is good, there are still really good games out there with better value for money.

The Secret World is definitely a game that I highly encourage everyone to play. I have a lifetime subscription to the game but I don't play it anymore because I feel like I have essentially beaten the game but that story is so incredible it is wort…
I am excited to play Wildstar for a number of reasons:
* the art style looks amazing
* this game exudes personality.. Love the humor!
* combat looks very interesting and fun
* loving the idea of paths and adventures

I am hoping that instanced content goes away as a design element in MMO's. It ruins community completely. Also no more easy mode LFG tools those ruin community too. Competitive PVE is needed! I'm hoping that EQ Next will have a "classic mode" se…
Originally posted by Mardy Someone mentioned GW2 is a buy-2-play game, which I agree is an advantage to GW2. You would spend less money playing GW2 than with SOE's cash shop f2p model. So for people on a budget and don't want to be restricted or …
you really need to look at video of graphics in borderlands 2 to see that cartoon graphics can still be seriously amazing graphically and having spectacular effects, use PhysX, and be just fantastic. the fact that they have chosen to go with this s…

everquest is pve game mainly, but EQN can chance that too.
Except Guild Wars 2 is not a pvp game at all. GW2 pvp is laughable and they should never have called it Guild Wars e…
this conversation is pointless because the OP doesn't know what he/she is talking about.
first of all the easy route for SOE would be to make a modern version of EQ1.
when they made EQ2 they took the risk of going with the photo realistic graphi…

You know who the worst possible people are to make technical presentations? Marketing guys. Why? Because they don't know shit and only care about giving something a shine instead of just letting a thing speak for itself. There was a certain mar…
You guys need to stop insisting that all games be wow clones. In most cases limited ability combat is about forcing you to pay attention to the action instead of hotbars. Has nothing to done with consoles.
look I'm sure there are people out there who think they can do a better job than the people who are actually making games. very few actually put their money where their mouth is and actually try to make a better game. most people just complain and…
Most of this really comes down to what a character looks like from a distance. They generally said a couple of different times that they want people to be able to be expressive and look unique from a reasonable distance. That's why the eyes, nose,…

Trinity and Non-Trinity are just styles of combat. Some people like one, some the other. It's a taste thing, to me this thread is pointless.

I have bought the $200 and the $60 founders packs plus spent at least $100 on zen for various fancy things. I have more than gotten my money's worth for the amount of hours I have spent playing the game. I have not had any problems with Cryptic or…
