Absolutely agree. I quit WOW PVP because of the rogue kids. This is what the OP is missing, I guess:

    *turn invisible*

*wait player killing a mob until he has 25% life*

    *stun*

    *attack*

    *stun*

    *attack*

    *win*

    *turn invisible*

    *repeat*

Now this is LAME, not the other war around.

If WAR doesn't have that, they got me in the game.

Remember its requirer a lot of SKILL to have a playstyle like this.  (ironically)

seems like they are simplifying the game for the kiddies.
MMORPGS are getting simpler and more mindless everyday. It seems this game will be no exception

    Simplifying ?, how ?

Do you need more SKILL as a stealth character to PvP ?

I liked the Planetside stealth system, if you ran about while cloaked you were easy to see, if you stood still you were invisible. It meant it you were aware of who was around and careful you could sneak about unseen, but those that werent so careful would get spotted and killed.

TBH, I would rather see some sort of camoflague system, where you are harder to see in certain terrain only, but only invisible from long range if stationary. Hopefully they wont have stupid names floating over enemy heads like so many MMOs do, its fine for friendlies but spoils the feel of the game when enemies get them too (ala 'Kobold Isen Herra').

Stop comparing war to wow... mythic didn't design wow, blizzard did. this is clearing shocking to all of u comparing blizzards game to a non blizzard game but yes its true. mythic did not design wow and this game is going to be more like daoc than wow. stealth in daoc wasn't all about ganking. go play a bit of daoc and then give ur 2 cents.

A stealther in DAoC had a huge advantage.  Now that being said, if you were a good assassin, you spent 98% of your time sneaking around in stealth and missing most of the action.  It was your job to strike at the opportune time to deal the most impressive blow to the enemies defenses as possible.  Playing a good stealther took tons of patience and a little more than a ton of luck.  If you were going to make an action packed game of all out war, I can see where you wouldn't put stealth in the game.  Also, if stealth wasn't an aspect of the original story line of warhammer (i don't know for sure this is the case, just speculating here), then why would you add it in?  Just to make the game like every other game out there?  Hehe, I would think that would be a reason to not add it.

The problem I have with 'stealth' classes in MMO's is that they also double as a high-damage class. You've basically taken the traditional 'thief' archetype and put him into the 'light tank' archetype, often with some additional 'thief' abilities such as poisons and high-damage situational attacks.

I'm of the opinion this evolved to such a state because MMO games have moved pimarily in a combat-oriented direction mechanics wise and left little for the traditional rogues to do. Troubleshooting and scouting isn't really necessary when you're not running into locked doors all the time or the enemy is often predictable enough that you don't need prior information to plan on at all.

So instead of Garret Thief types, we have Legolas Ninja types as an easy compensation / nod to the archetype. Unfortunately it also lifts a lot from the warrior archetype - mainly damage dealing via weapons - leaving them pigeonholed into meat shields as often as not.

If they took away the potential for high damage - traditionally, as in before the EQ fumbling of the archetype, or 3E D&D - and left them as one of the lowest damage-dealing classes available, with a plethora of dirty tricks and frustrating devices, then I'd be delighted to see the Rogue or Thief in every fantasy-type game made, and have our Rangers and Barbarians be Warrior types again.

Unfortunately, until the game environments get to where there's something meaningful for a real Rogue to do, it seems as if it's going to be crammed into an invisible-light-tank-with-poison type and labelled Rogue, with everything else juggled around it. Since many people like - or have never even been exposed to the traditional archetype (outside my reference to the Thief games, which were well done) - I don't see the incentive for developers to bother.

The magic ninja appears to be capable of selling more games than a thinking man's character type.

That said I'm glad there's no stealth in WAR.

Stealthers are mostly pu$$ies in most mmorpg.  Alot of time u wont even see them come out solo unless they got a full grp of friends together to gank ppl.  When they get ganked they whine on message board, point fingers and cry like little babies.

so navy seals and Marines are babies cus they sneak around and stuff. You sir are a complete moron.

Thats completely off topic, and a very desperate argument. Games arent like real life, if you think so you should get out more often.

Theres a differance between sneaking around avoiding visible/audio contact, and being able to vanish in plain sight.

In DAOC, if you were close to someone, you showed up as a shadowy figure. You weren't invisible. There is a lot of ways they could have improved stealth to make it more realistic. But to just get rid of the whole thing is just a cop out

I'm sooo glad there's no stealth for idiots with no skill.   If you don't like it drag your ass back to WoW and grind dungeons for the next 5 years.  Have fun.

Stealth is easy mode. Why don't you want to be seen? Can't you play a game and fight someone one on one without having the advantage of be invisable. Seems to me the kiddies all need to all be stealthed to play up to par with normal players.

Lol nicely said bro, Couldn't of been said any better then that. I think the box should have said in red letters,

You must play World of Warcraft as if it was a JAIL TERM of 5 Years in order to complete the game, This involves no social life what so ever. lmao

I like what your saying, invis + high damage is a rogue class or assassin. If games were like ShadowBane where you needed scouts and trackers then the ability to do so would be great. I wouldn't mind at all if a Rogue (not Assassin, an Assassin would have high damage out put and stealth, while in no way the word Rogue gives off as a killer, just mischievous) could sneak around and when he poped out he can trap or stun me at take a 10-15 seconds to kill me, not Pop-Dead (1-3 seconds). If the class said Assassin I would understand the ability of the class.

Over all I don't really like stealth, because as I said be for come out and fight like a man. Yeah yeah "but we need to be all balanced in a way" then play a Warrior / Bar / Zerker or something, at least if you rush me with 5 times as much HP and kill me it's cool, not kill me in 3 seconds and be equal in hp (more then likely I could do the same or take a tad longer (I'm a caster btw) but I can't find you till it's too late, that's the point I know).

No stealth, good for me. Pretty much like everyone else is saying if you want stealth play ANY other game out there, and they have it (not sure if LOTRO does, but they don't have rogues.... do they?).

Why don't you walk up to a Navy Seal and tell him he's a coward for sneaking around. Then see what he does to you. No? I didn't think so. You guys are the real cowards.

A Navy Seal doesn't walk around a grass field in broad daylight without being seen.

The Navy Seal analogy is completely off base.

Agreed. I like playing easy classes...but steathers are just too easy......  usually played by folks who enjoy ganking... I believe on WOW normal servers where there is no ganking there are actually far fewer people who roll them...because w/o the gank..what good is the class really?

Glad to see WAR try something different...

(besides, Mythic had a terrible time trying to balance stealth in DAOC.... so better that it be left out...

IIRC, the tabletop version of Warhammer (the one most of my knowledge for WAR is based on), had a couple of "stealthy" types of units, but they weren't stealth/rogue types in traditional sense.  Dark elves and Skaven had assassin units, that hid among regular unit types and would pop out and sneak attack/backstab/whatever enemy characters who came in contact with the unit.  These assassin units were meant as true assassins, used to kill high-powered enemy characters/leaders.  After an assassin was revealed, they couldn't just hide in the unit again or turn invisible, they were out in the open for anyone to see.  There were also skirmisher/ranger type units who could deploy closer to the enemy based on their "sneaky" nature.  But yeah, the only real concealment in that game was gained by hiding in cover, whether it was forests, behind obstacles or buildings, etc.  A dude couldn't just stand in the middle of a clearing and disappear.  I understand the use of stealth classes in a lot of mmo's.  But one of the things that draws me to WAR is the accuracy concerning the lore and already established games.  I can't see GW just up and saying "well, all these unit types can now turn invisible, even though they were never able to in any of our previous games and despite the fact that no one, in any of the lore we've ever created, had the ability to disappear into thin air".  Frankly, that's fine with me.

Finally something where chicken-hearted Cowards (which most rogue players seem to be) don´t have a chance to stab you from behind.

Simplifying for kiddies has nothing to do with this, except lots of rogues are kiddys and could gladly stay away from this title

I always play rogues and thieves , and i really enjoy stealthy shooter games.

No stealth class in WAR is a major downer for me.
