Just putting this out there because I want my early days of DAOC back. I know it wont really be matched but what is everyones opinion on the best pvp game out there now?
Comments
I'd say only Aion/Darkfall could match that kind of PvP, imo.
The main reason I picked up Aion and continue to play!

Honestly it's no freaking contest if you like the sci-fi setting and flying a spaceship you cannot beat a game that totally revolves around pvp like Eve Online.
Games like WAR, AoC and Aion are half decent pvp games while I would have selected DAoC but since this vote is games in there current state I cannot.
Edit: I liked Darkfall also but I honestly dont know how anyone could select it over EvE unless they just hate the sci-fi genre.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
People would chose darkfall because you don't have to wait a year before you can start playing the game.
WoW has the best combat system which makes it the best IMO cause I hate all the other games combat but they ruined the PVP for me when they put in battlegrounds. It's a shame cause the combat is soo sooo good but without world PVP then I don't care.
EVE Online makes my heart beat so fast but the combat doesn't require any twitch based movements when the winner is whoever throws the most ALTS at you. So you get some sado who plays with 10 accounts who groups them all up and you're left with your one account and no chance of winning. Also making money in EVE to do PVP is boringgggggggg it's too repetitive.
I loved Planetside but the games just dated and full of hackers ruining it now.
The rest you listed I don't like Asian mmorpgs and DAOC controls like crap.

Would you like me to show you how to skill up a FW pilot in three days and be pvping fully in four? I know most people dont have the intelligence to figure this stuff out. In Darkfall you get slaughtered instantly for the first week or so. Now who gets to start playing the game first?

Your right if you played Eve, you know the real sandbox game.

I voted for the home team (EVE) but it all depends what sort of combat you prefer.
I also enjoy Aion and in the past DAOC and Lineage 2.
Can't call any of them "best", just the one you prefer the most (or atm)

I chose Lineage 2 because it was the first MMO where I enjoyed PvPing in.
Guild wars, anyone? Thought it was kinda famous for that.
Anyway, define "good PvP"
To me darkfall is like unreal torunament with magic and weapons online and pay 2 play.
Guild Wars.what else?
You cant beat DAoC PvP its a fact, especially for the fast paced action i nwhich it is done. I always go back to DAoC because no other game can handle the PvP as good as it does. I did like Darkfall however, its just the only way to 'compete' in PvP is to macro your skills unless you want to spend eternity hitting mobs.
Currently playing : Darkfall
Character name : Aeola Anara
Played: Almost every P2P MMO you can get your hands on, notably:
Daoc, SWG, LOTRO, WAR, AoC + Dozens more
I enjoyed pvp in lots of games from UO, WoW to daoc and my long lost love Planetside. The best pvp game I've played though that actually put a large focus on it before anything else was Guild Wars. Still need to try Darkfall though, waiting for the day they release a trial for it.
i give my vote to Anarchy Online(without mechs),its actually pure player Vs player at lvls 1-150 ,you really need to know how to build your character by using your brains, after that its pretty much collecting items,
Generation P
Darkfall has several short comings imo as a "sandbox" game
but if it's "PvP" you want then its the game for you! Just join a clan and join the fray
Of the games I've tried, Guild Wars hands down.

I voted for Lineage 2.
In terms of PvP, it's the MMO I consider my own "gold standard". Almost everything goes back to PvP.
My Reasons:
PvP anyone, anytime, almost anywhere (except in towns).
- Territory Wars
- Castle Sieges
- Fortress Sieges
- Clan Hall Sieges
- Fighting for Raid Bosses
- Clan Wars
- Fighting for xp'ing spots
- Seven Signs (which ties into Castle Sieges, which ties into PvP)
- Olympiad (though it's admittedly abused)
The factionless setup allows for a very dynamic and fluid balance of power; who's aligned with who, who shows up at sieges, even if they're not signed to attack/defend, just to interfere with a clan they're warred with on either side, etc. Small skirmishes of 5 on 5 can escalate into much larger battles, and up to 200+ per side during sieges is pretty common, especially for the larger castles.
And, in all cases, the PvP has purpose in the game. It's not just all random ganking for the sake of showing how uber you are. Most everything you PvP for has an influence on *some* aspect of the game, directly or indirectly.
There's a lot more I could go into in terms of specific exampls, etc... but suffice to say that for PvP, L2 is the only MMO I feel has gotten it "right". Now if only NC were as good at dealing with RMT :-/

I found it kind of hard to answer this because I play differnt MMOs for differnt types of PvP. I like the PvP of EVE, L2, Aion and DAoC but all for different reasons. DAoC was really fun RvR. EVE is great for when I want to go stirring trouble in low sec space and get into fleet combat. I really enjoy sieges in L2, and I find the Abyss really challenging in Aion. I don't think many people just like one form of PvP, which is partially why I think there are more PvPers that play multiple MMOs than most polls would lead people to believe.

- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
Darkfall suppose to have really good PVP, so give that a try. I enjoy Eve also!

All my opinions are just that..opinions. If you like my opinions..coolness.If you dont like my opinion....I really dont care.
Playing: ESO, WOT, Smite, and Marvel Heroes
I was going to vote Eve, but I havn't played it in years. I then noticed WW2 online, but Havnt played that in years either. In fact I havnt played Darkfall or reached the level required to play pvp in Aion.
I could be wrong but people go directly to this thread to see games are suggested for best pvp. Having to Vote in order to view the results will mess everything up. Results can not be accurate do to the fact everything listed has not been sampled by every voter. A poll should be constructed with an equation allowing the above circumstance to be considered.
No big deal if you take that into consideration and read the posts under thread when using the information to decide to try something new for pvp. Eve was a life long game (great game ahead of its time when it came out). Is it still or did they dumb it down to attract the masses? thanks
This post is intentionally written as to not make any sense what so ever. Thank You Very Much.
Have faith in CCP, sheesh.
To the OP:
If you want a game with nothing but PVP and that's pretty much it. Darkfall.
If you want a complex game that has hundreds of different things for each player to do, EVE.
If you want a fun community focused game, with a somewhat central endgame based PVP, but no real death pentalties, Fallen Earth.

The tutorial is much easier to understand and they added new mechanics like faction warfare for that small fleet action in low sec.
They revamped the Scanning/probing feature to make it more active and more missions for those guys. I wouldnt consider that dumbing it down though. We all know the old tutorial sucked.
Eve is still risk heavy. Like an asshole I was transporting about 5 billion isk in goods and had to go Afk due to my son having an accident in my living room. In the two minutes I was away from my Pc I was suicided in empire lol. Thankfully I have ten times that amount of isk on my character but thats just an example of how messed up that game could be.
To other people in this thread for me a quality pvp game is not just about the combat but about the other features that surround the pvp mechanics. When you play a game that 100% fully supports pvp in several separate mechanics its tough to play a game like WoW or Aion. Darkfall is decent but other than just roaming and killing newb and sieges the game has nothing to it.
Many will vote for DF but really what are you voting for? The game in it self is very shallow, maybe in two years it will be at the level of a pure pvp game like Eve or guild wars or even DAoC. it has a very long way to go.

For me Eve is not exciting enough or complex enough combat-wise. It can be very disappointing and very anti-climactic at times. That is why I prefer GW as I previously mentioned.
My personal description of it would be close to "team-based, real time, fast paced Magic the Gathering". Everyone is there to fight, everything happens on a level playing field and everyone has a chance to win.
