You still haven't given a rebuttal to my post. All you seem able to do is get extremely confused.
What evidence do you have to suggest that a god might exist, other than a hunch? If you don't have any evidence then we'll have to agree that he doesn't exist and you only pretend he does because you're scared.
Please, enlighten me...
I have repeatedly cited fulfilled prophecy, how is this not evidence that God exists?
God promised to disperse the nation of Israel across the globe and then restore them to their own nation, which had been occupied by and is currently surrounded by people intent on their destruction. Israel repelled an invading force of FIVE NATIONS! by themselves IN SIX DAYS! Name another time in history where something similar has happened. How is this not evidence of God?

Every post you've writen is insane. You have no idea what you're talking about and just because you search up electron microscopes before you posted doesn't mean you're educated. It means you're a joke. Read up on EVOLUTION, no one ever stated rocks turn into living forms. Don't be so ignorant.
Originally posted by En1Gma All in all here is what is presented to us1. Very intelligent discussion for and against the existance of God (many thanks to ALL of you for not letting this thread go way out of hand). Thank you. With that said, i honestly believe it will take more than just a forum discussion to fully discuss this. The debate about the existance of God has raged for centuries. To be honest, we just cannot prove it and we cannot prove against it in terms of satisfying the opposite side. The one thing the Athiests and believers of a God have in common is Faith. It takes faith to believe that there is no higher order in the universe. It takes faith to believe that fully functional human beings with complex DNA evolved from a single cell mass of protein and amino acids. It takes faith believing in current scientific data that says the odds of Evolution occuring the way we think it to occured is the same odds of a Tornado ripping through a junk yard and assembling a fully operational 747 Jet. It just takes faith to believe the once you die that is it. Game over. When your father dies or your mother dies, she is utterly gone, demised. It takes faith to believe in God.It takes faith to believe there is a higher order in the universe possibily having a course of action for humanity. It takes faith to believe that we are not as fully in control of ourselves as much as we want to believe. It takes faith to believe that this world was created in 6 thousand or 10 thousand years. It takes faith to believe in a Loving God in spite of worldly violence and famine. It takes faith to believe that God created Man in his image. No matter WHAT we believe it requires faith in our part. Even not believing in something because you cannot see it or feel it still requires faith; faith that you do not believe in a higher celestial being simply because YOU have not experience anything. So no matter where you stand the common action we all have is faith of some sort.
You seem to be saying, in a roundabout way, that it's just as likely there's a god as any other theory of our origins, because all schools of thought "require faith". This is incorrect.
Faith is essentially "hoping something is true without there being any evidence to suggest it's true". There is no evidence that suggests there's a god, other than weak evidence such as "I feel it in my heart" or "The little boy survived the plane crash when 374 other passengers died. God must have saved him!". There is well-documented, tested evidence that tells us that we evolved. Evolution is a fact (yes, it's called "evolution theory", and it's a tested and proven theory). We can see it in the world around us with very little effort, though the majority of people prefer not to look.
I don't "have faith" that there isn't a god. I am 100% certain, beyond a shadow of a doubt that there isn't a god. The idea is archaic, childish, and ridiculous. We're supposed to be a civilized species and yet we still built our lives around a belief in the supernatural.
"It takes faith to believe in a Loving God in spite of worldly violence and famine." With respect, it doesn't take faith - it takes a complete lack of understanding of simple logic. If "God is love" as the bible tells us, then he is not "1% hate" or "5% anger" or "7% vengeance", he is "100% love". This does not allow for negativity to exist, yet it does. Before you say "you can't have positivity without negativity", isn't god supposed to be omnipotent? Are you telling me there's something he can't do? Of course, we know omnipotence is also a logical fallacy. Can god create a rock that's so heavy he can't lift it?
Anyway, the debate concerning whether or not there's an invisible man in the sky rages on. I usually steer clear of religious arguments as I always come off feeling frustrated at the pigheaded ignorance of what seems to be the majority of people, but this one's been fun.
If you want to learn more about the history of life on our planet, read "The Blind Watchmaker" by Richard Dawkins.
If you want to read a fictional book full of inconsistencies and contradictions with stories of rape, genocide, pedophilia, wrath, hatred and vengeance... read your bible.
Apologies to anyone I've offended during this discussion.

I'd like to see where all of these terrible things are in the Bible.
I'd also like it if you could give me an answer on my previous few posts which you seem to be conveniently ignoring.
I believe that no one knows what there is beyond this life - main reason - we are still in this life. No one knows what happens after we die - not the pope (catholic guy in large funny hat), not the dahli lama, not your mama, not the president, and definatly and for surely not a baptist.
Anyway - God = GoOd - Devil = Evil
Be God = Be good - don't be evil = don't be devil
You'd think people are smarter than all of this religious hocus pocus - but, I'm kinda glad they aren't for the most part - that way I can feel superior to the mass of sheep. The Sheep - nothing but, food for the predators such as myself...
I guess buddism is the most acceptable to me thus far.

You're as set in your ways regarding your views on reality as I am in mine. The difference is that my opinions have been formed through years of research and determination, while yours have been formed through years of indoctrination and subservience.
You've also proven to me that you aren't capable of sensible debate, and have no arguments to back up your claim that a god exists, other than the feeble argument that no-one can prove he doesn't exist, which I've debunked more than once in this thread.

You previously claimed that my argument was that "the Bible says it cuz its true" which it was not"
It seems that it is you who are incapable of reading a simple post and understanding what it says, much less holding an intelligent debate.

God just made us and he decided to let us make our own destenies, its like we are the authors of our own book. He helped us now and then but its man who decides the futur of our planet. I hate people who hate God because he didn't prevent 9/11. We make our own destenies and we can only blame those who made the terrosits made enough to do that. I think people that believe in a god are simply afraid of death. They can't handle the fact that when we die we just become another pile of dust in the ground and that's it. Therefore they would rather believe in life after death or reincarnation, etc, etc....

You seem determined to put up a smokescreen every time I ask you to give some evidence that your god exists.
If you have no evidence, then you are pretending. It's ok to pretend, but don't expect your opinions to be respected when you live in a world of make-believe.
Please keep posting over and over again with questions that do absolutely nothing to back up your insistence that there's a god.

I believe in 'god' in the sense there is a larger focus to this universe that we have yet to understand. As example of what is already been said in this forum, every generation of humans believe they are the peek of existence, and that nothing greater can come. Which is why every generation has a strong percent (10-20%) believe the end of time will come in their existence, due to the fact they cant fathom a further leap in human progression.
I do believe mankind has been around longer than we currently believe simply do to the reasoning that there massive chunks of our history that are missing, starting long before the time of Jesus and up to that point in time.

Again, how do you answer fulfilled prohpecy?
What are your views on abiogenesis?
Do you believe in quarks?

I think people that believe in a god are simply afraid of death. They can't handle the fact that when we die we just become another pile of dust in the ground and that's it. Therefore they would rather believe in life after death or reincarnation, etc, etc....
Um....that isn't true I lived the first 20 years of my life as a dedicated athiest (well, those years which I was capable of intellectual reasoning anyway)
My argument is not and never has been that noone can prove he exists.

Do I believe in a god?
No, I don't see any reason to. My life is complete without having to be "born again". I was born right the first time thank you

Prophecy is evidence that God exists
also
1. Nothing cannot cause something.
2. Nothing can cause itself, for it would first have to exist in order to create itself.
3. Anything with a beginning had to have a beginner.
a. according to the laws of thermodynamics, the universe began
4. We cannot have an infinite series of causes.
a. We would never have arrived at now
b. No infinite number of actual things is possible, for there can always be one more
5. There had to be an uncaused cause, the first cause, uncreated existence.
1. Things exist.
2. It is possible that they could not exist.
3. Something moves possibility to actuality.
4. Potential things are contingent upon that same something for continual existence.
5. There cannot be an infinite regress of causes.
5. Only an infinite being is continually uncaused.
6. The cause of a things existence must therefore be uncaused and eternal.

This place is full of tree-huggers and tofu fartn' faeries...

Wow, you know how to use google, I copied and pasted a standard argument for first cause from my friend's website because itis faster than typing.
Would you care to respond to my argument, or would you rather continue making ad hominem attacks?

I don't lead a life of faith so at the end of the day I expect to receive kudos from God, lol. As I said in an earlier post fear doesn't equate to faith.
Firemagic, did you change your avatar's signature?

Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.
LOL, I used to know this guy who thought the world was 3000 years old.
When I asked him how fossils ended up underground, he said with a straight face "God put them there to test our faith".
These people have all their bases covered!

I will pray for you firemagic, I hope that you come to know the Messiah before you face him on judgement day. I am through trying to convince you as you are obviously unwilling to discuss this honestly.

Some of those questions that he linked are ones that cosmologists, like Stephen Hawking, try to answer. I wouldn't consider them trivial.

Hahaa... "Ad hominem attacks"... Well I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I accept your compliment.
OK, I'll respond to "your" argument:
How does any of it prove that god exists?
Actually dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible
