    Let what go. He just admitted CryEngine can't do what he has been saying he wants it to do. But yeah with 1st post I understand why you would say that. Also in the Escapist article one employee said it can't be done didn't he? This is big! :-D

    No, he said that STOCK CryEngine isn't designed to do what he's trying to do that's why he's hired a whole team of CryEngine engineers and programmers to change it so it can. He even goes on to say that these guys always wanted to do stuff like this WHEN THEY WORKED FOR CRYTECH. The guys changing the engine are actually the guys who helped design it in the first place. You are really reaching this time Brenics. This is pretty ignorant even for you. Alpha 2.0 is full of stuff Stock CryEngine isn't designed to do. The demo we saw of a planet rendered at scale is also something that stock CryEngine isn't designed to do. I'd say that their Frankfort team pretty much knows what they can and can't do with the engine since they helped design the fricken thing.

    LOL CryEngine developers said a long time ago to CR it won't work. You will see you are wrong and today you heard it out of CR's own mouth. Either he needs a new engine or close it up. It won't work!

    Nothing to get into it won't work and hasn't worked. Think about it, how long and how much money went into this engine and he comes out and says this today. When he was told this a long time ago.

    Not defending the guy as im not really interested in the game and all the fun drama around it, but there is not really any alternative to Cry engine there.

    While its network feature might suck, it was used in many mmos in the past, even if they where heavily modified.

    Point is making engine that could handle this sort of level of visual fidelity at decent performance would take years. Its a lot cheaper and faster to just hire old cry tech programmers at a discount and add and modify the networking code.

    Then again, that put aside I do believe at least half of what the rumor say about the guy and the game development. This sort of stuff don't come out of no where but It usually is exaggerated :P

    Same reason why I would NEVER pay for unfinished game, or any other product. I might not like it when its done :D

    Don't bother with Brenics, anyone that has followed these SC threads even a little knows he is a DS disciple......and will ignore any facts he doesn't like, like how the they may have started off with cryengine yet have modified it so much I hear it's called something else like star engine or some such in the offices.

    The guy wasted money on an engine that can't do what he promised. You expect him to just roll over and die? He has three choices, one to start with a new engine, two go back to 1.0 and make a single player game, three close it up and run with the money he has left.
