Lineage 2-- BEST MMORPG BY FAR-WORST REVIEWS!! WHy?! i tell you why

I am tired of poorley made reviews about this game. Everywhere i read, i see the game rated like mediocre, or with 6 out of 10 or such.
I read these kinda of reviews, and let me tell you, they are WRONG!!!
THE game appeared in 2003, yes, but it missed many features, wich are now implemented , via add ons, named CHRONICLES. SInce 2003, when the beta tests were over, they made 3 Chronicles, the third one appeared just this year, and let me tell you something. THe game doesen t miss anything.
When it comes to graphics, it beats by far WOW or any other contendants. The Way C, B or A graded armors look, it s simpley incredible. You can see them all here: http://lineage2.xenemy.com/all_a_grade_armors.htm
Another thing i noticed when i read these pooreley made reviews. THE editors of the article didn t even reach level 20!!!! At level 20 the game really starts. So don t even write a review if u haven t played till level 52, when u receive B graded armor, wich is fabulous.
PETS in the game include Striders and flying wyrm. Nothing compares to a stryder, i have never seen in a game such a magnificiant creature, and it surs, u can rideit, or fight with it. It s superb. This is my strider:
Another negative thing of this site. I wanted to see some pictures from the game, i noticed that all the pictures are in EXTREMLEYLOW QUALITY, so many artifacts, u can t even see the characters faces!!!!! It s insane. I don t even want to speculate why are u doing this. Maybe the game is to popular in asia, and it s getting extremley Popular in EUrope. Maybe other mmorpg game companys are affraid of this game. And they should be cause it s more then any other mmoprg i ever played, including the childish WOw.
If you don t have the time, at least 2 hours per day for playing, don t even try it. THis game Provokes ADDICTION. I played for 1.5 years, and i didn t get tired of it.
L2 has a huge world, constantly updated by the producers of the game , via Chronicles, wich are FREE, just like the game. EVERYTHING LOOKS AND FEELS Incredible. It s the most beautifull designed game i have ever seen. THe weapons are a piece of art, each. THe armors are majestic, the characters, classics.
Nothing looks as innocent and cute as a little dwarf girl, or big and mean as an orc, or beutifull life an elven girl, or incredibley sexy like a dark elf girl. THE GAME HAS NUMEROUS QUESTS, but it doesen t matter.
THE GAME HAS A LIFE OF IT S own. You can do WHATEVER YOU WANT!! You don t have to do quests, u don t have to go places, u can adventure urself to see the beautifull locations, or go with a friend to conquer the wolrd, sail away ona boat, or model the world of L2 by ur actions. You can achieve power, and become a dominant force in the game.
THe game is just like real life, just that is more direct. The attention to details and balance of characters , is incredible.
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE GAME FREE , from NCSOFT OFFICIAL SITE!!! www.lineage2.com . You can find private, LEGAL servers, where you can play via google , or pay to play on the official server 15 dollars per month.
I only play this game on my PC since i got it. And i mnot a kid, i have a good job, nice life, etc. I m not obsessed with it, it s just that it s the most enjoyable game i ever played, and i played them almost all.
So, a 6 out of 10 is ridiculous. Lineage 2 is the Ferrari of MMORPG`s.
I hope u ll respect my opinion and don t delete this post. I sugest to the editors of this site to REVIEW LINEAGE 2 with it s fresh 2005 chronicle 3. Just to be fair and square.

Everything is a grindfest if u look at things from this angle. In life you go to school, so you become someone, so you get a well payed job, so you can afford a car, etc.
Maybe the best part of the game is it s own weakness... YOU ARE FREE to do whatever u want. even just level grinding...but it s ur choice. It s all about choices. U can have the tiem of ur life, or get bored to death.
You will wish to gain xp, so u can afford items, get new occupations, awseome skills, (8 ocupations for every race, i m a Human DarkAvenger...) even pets like dragons, new skills, more money. You become POWERFULL. You can raise a clan, u can then go in parties to kill The big bosses of the game, or to make justice in the world, u can take your character to higher paths. THousands of players will know you, whether they love u or hate u, it s fun. Soulshots are something new in this game, no other game has something quit like this.
You make friends in this game, with whom you create your on quests. Hunting for an item, killing special bosses, going to the Dragon Antharas..breath taking, all is breathtaking, imens, superb . You can even make war between clans, u can raise a pet... virtually, u can do whatever u want. Even just grinding, but that makes it boring. U MAKE IT BORING. u have the possibility to choose, and u choose to do level grinding..that s stupid.
The feeling of the game, it s just great. The world of the game...gorgeos.
Play it, judge it after u played it a bit (minimum level 20), at least explore the world, don t judge the game because of stupid rumours, play it for once.
Iplay on a private server, xp rates are increased 20 times, no hackers, dedicated gm`s. ANd i don t think that the rumours about "hackers" is true.. Just rumours made by concurent game company . It s a dirty business...

Lineage 2 at closed beta was great! No one cared about lvling cause of the wipe. I recently cancelled my subscription because of many cheaters that are not getting banned(some are actually, but many left), and all my rl friends quit too. Lineage 2 is really amazing though, didn't expect it to have this many features when it first came out like Seven Signs and stuff. This game has a lot of PvE content too like Festival which makes you be in a group and kill as many monsters as you can before dying in a room. Pretty cool. Vast world. Though, it got a bit boring. I didn't mind the grinding even though I was a casual player. I recommend this game even though I am quitting.

Which FF Character Are You?
If I'm not mistaken, it was released in 2004, March or April. Anyway, I assume the reason it receives bad reviews is the leveling process that includes a lot of grinding. Gaining a level means fighting the same kind of mob over and over again, it's tedious and boring. It's a routine.
Not all MMORPGs are like that anymore. Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft at least offer a variety of locations in every level range and a lot of quests and offer more activities.

Real life provides lots of activities that break routine. Hobbies, sports, television, music, etc, etc. Lineage 2 fails to provide lots of activities and becomes a routine.

* City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
* City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.
The O.P. is totally right. I recently came back and the game is really vastly improved. C3 is out now and there are so many improvements it's hard to list, but here's a few.
Quests! When I left the first time one of my major gripes was the lack of quests. I know quests aren't that important for some people, but for me it's a fun way to have something to look forward to as you plow through content. I'm level 11 with my new toon and he has 3 active quests that will takes some hard work to accomplish, I love that!
UI- the UI looks great and lots of extra touches have been added, from the tutorial with a seeker crystal over your head to help new players find particular points of interest and it's not only useful but so kewl looking. Also when entering new areas it is displayed in a very nice way what area you are entering. There is a new gump for system and options and petitioning and map so it is easier to use.
There is also a community thing you can get too which has your clan and community and all kinds of crazy info you can get, it's brand new and I haven't needed to use it yet but it must be very useful for high levels in clans and raids and sieges and such.
Also, you can open MSN messenger right inside the game! Log in to your MSN messenger account right inside the game and chat with friends. That's just damn kewl
I have dissed this game a few times and I now bow to the devs, they really put in work and improved it. I'm playing it at work now and absolutely loving it. I loved the game even when released but bots and griefers and such ruined it for me. At least now NCSoft is dealing with them more, one guy was even arrested in Japan (haha) and it's easier than ever to report botters with the new UI. Also, most of the farmers have moved on to much higher tier zones, which is a heck of a bonus for n00bs.
The quests really tipped the scales for me, they are really fun and make the game more meaningful. Oh and did I mention the music? It is top notch and theres a new song for TI (Talking Island), my most beloved n00by haunt. It is orchestral and harkens me back to my Final Fantasy days. It is asian RPG music which IMO is some of, if not THE best type of RPG music.
These are all just impressions of the game from the early stages, there are new dungeons and mounts and all kinds of crazy new armor in the game I have heard, I always loved this game and now I have great reasons to play it again.
EDIT: I'm playing on Kain server atm character name is Arno. I am on an official server as I don't mind the grind a bit, in fact I enjoy a challenge even if it is a timesink. You'll never have to just grind though, you can PK or quest or kill easy mobs for loot, whatever you like. Or just hang around in Garin and drool over the DE chix
The original reviewers of the game when it was released may have been a bit charitable, rating the first 20 levels with a 6 out of 10 rating (and similar such ratings). After all it had nothing but grinding and random PKing. The castle seiges werent even in the game yet, so hitting higher levels would have been meaningless.
But if you can stomach the grind and get far enough in the game it can be a very rewarding experince. The clan warfare and politics are what makes L2 shine, and its the sort of thing that is painfully missing from other games.
I play this game at work, late at night when i have no sleep..it keeps me interested, and i ve played it for a year. i didn t get bored of it. THIS IS A MIRACLE. Even now there are things in game i didn t do, locations i didn t go yet, hundreds of quests i didn t make, and SIEGES.
I participate at sieges.. IT S INCREDIBIL...

people with healthy social lives, jobs and school simply cant compete in lineage 2 and that is a fact.

You may have a point there. The game is hardcore and very time consuming. I'm not sure how anyone could play it casualy and get anything out of it, though I'm sure there are a few that do.

I have a full time job where i work 9 hours a day and a social life and played this game for a year and gave it all of the benifit of the doubt but was only able to reach lvl 39 on one character and 24 on another. This is not a casual game at all.
I only wanted to show you the real Lineage 2, not the false picture of the one described in the rusty reviews. I played L2 since december last year, and i didn t get bored of it a bit.
I spent many beautifull hours late at night playing this game in company of my girlfriend , and friends, i made friends, i had fun, i made a clan, i made even a website where we can gather, i made events for mu clan mates, we waged wares together, we sacrificed ourselves for one another in the game.. we explored, we won, we fall, we lived a beautifull game experience like in no other game before ever!!! THere is no need to grind. U can have fun with ur friends, or future friends . U can kill monsters (what else to do? go fishing? cooking skill, like wow? no thanks), or go to the market, buy, sell something. THe Economy of lineage 2 is created by it s players, and it s extremley good. There are many locations to level upa t certain levels, all u have to do is explore the wonderfull pitoresque wolrd of l2.
First time i played 8 months and reached level 59 on a 10x server. That s because i spent lots of time exploaring, just wondering around, not knowing where are certain mosnters. BUT IT WASN T BORING or anoying. I felt free in a huge world to go wherever i want to, no borders, nobody tells u where to go, what to do. No quest needed beeing done to go somewhere...etc. U ARE FREE...that s why i love thi sgame that much.. quests now annoy me
After that I played for 4 weeks on a 5x server to reach level 59, and i didn t get bored at no level at all.. leveling up is not a necesity, u can explore every place even at low levels, still, there are locations with extreme high level mosnters, which has high level drops, xp, and adena... to motivate u in gaining xp.. but that s natural, and v well done...

There is google. ENter what ur searching for : free lineage 2 servers for example. Just advice, not discussing anything.

Lineage 2 is for casual gamers too.
<---- Me! Trust me I am casual but it is fun hanging out with friends. Also, they made this game a LOT easier. Lvls 1-25 should be a breeze with new newbie buffs(lucky ducks) and free ngss and ngsps(lucky ducks) plus the quests guide you sometimes. Chronicle 3 added a lot of stuff for lower lvls.
Also, I heard private servers are really buggy and sometimes chronicles behind. Plus it isn't as fun.
. Lol, ya I know about the grind, but if you get some good friends and party a lot it is really great.

I don't know about lineage2 that much,I haven't played it.
But I think RF ONLINE is worth a try, it's quite similar to lineage2.

you have to make sure you have credible people backing you up. I just may give it another go since I am in the middle of looking for another mmorpg to play. Although I REALLY doubt it will last because of the hard grind and crap crafting.

Seriously...this is my most hated MMO ever...economy, community, gameplay....next to zero quests. I could go on and on, but i won't.
Granted i haven't played since about 3 months after release but the feel of this game left such a horrid taste in my mouth i will never give my money to it again.

Did you not read my first post Remy? lol they added quests, and tons of them. Honestly, Lineage 2 has improved by leaps and bounds, you have to try it to see. It's a free download now and the patcher is sleek and quick.

U got me there Anarchyart. I won't deny that....but i kinda had a feeling i would come back to EQ2 after it had some legs to stand on. I liked the feel of EQ2, it was just so broken at release i couldn't play it.
L2 on the other hand...you know when you start playing a game and just say "this doesn't feel right"? I managed to get to lvl 25 in L2 before the grind with nothing else to do but get ganked took its toll.
In my defense, I'm not exactly singing EQ2's praises either. I'm just giving it another go and I like what i've seen so far.

Sorry I have to add one more thing, Lineage 2 was my most hated MMO ever too. In fact, it is the ONLY MMO I ever hated. That's why I'm so impressed. They addressed the things that I disliked most; lack of quests, bots farmers and hackers. Surely you read about the guy who got arrested for hacking. I know it's only one person, but it happened and he got arrested which sends a message that it's not joke.
It's a great game, and now with Chronicle 3 (which is free btw, try getting that anywhere else) there are tons of new reasons why to like Lineage 2.
EDIT: and I won't blame you Remy, EQ2 has added so much pure goodness it's frankly astonishing. Even just on the beginning boat ride part, I noticed the textures have been optimized more and even the wooden railing had this ornate carved end thingy on it. I love it when I get proved wrong with video games, and EQ2 and Lineage 2 have both done that.
