Here is a hitch. I went ahead and DL'd the game and am now trying to get a L2 account going but it asks for a Serial Code that I do not have. So to play I have to purchase one for $49.99. I think I'll just wait for my Amazon order of $20 to come in so I can use that serial. I did try to cancel after your post but item was already shipping so I couldn't, which turns out for the best it seems.
OOoh yikes I never thought of that, my download worked because of course I already registered a copy. Well it's a good thing that your 20 buck copy is still on the way then. Can't believe they want 50 bucks US for a key code when they sell the collecters edition in canada for 25 bucks.
EDIT: glad to see you didn't want the nooby gear. Getting your own gear in this game in particular is one of the most rewarding parts of the entire experience. The drops have been improved since launch but not so much that you won't do a happy dance when you finally get a good drop. You will want to dance though hehe a good drop in Lineage 2 is still a rare thing and very happy time too.

NO posting or LINKING any FREE or PRIVATE server for Lineage 2 on these forums. It's not allowed in the EULA of Lineage 2, it's not allowed here, and it's.....well....its just not allowed.
Please dont debate with me either about the free servers being legal because I have 12 emails in my handy dandy inbox straight from a Developer of NCSOFT that talks personally of how it is not allowed. Also, I am responsible for 7 servers being shut down.
So if you post a link of free servers, I wont send em to the Customer Service Reps of Lineage 2. Ill send it to the main guys of NCSOFT period.
The customer support people usually do not have the time to investigate the free server problem. However, 7 out of 7 server addys I sent to NCsoft were put down in about 7 business days. So if you posted a link of free servers here....expect the shelf life to be anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks.
Also, just because the GM of your little free hacked server says it is not illegal does not make him all knowing, It is, in fact, NOT ALLOWED

At first, say by page 3, I was going to try this game just to see what it is like even though I personally; but for very good reasons, despise PVP. But as I started downloading it to try I kept reading. By the time I finished on this page I have decided not to play. Too bad too. Sounded kind of fun except for the PVP ganking stuff. I leveled a Shaman in EQ to 60 pre pop. I know treadmills well. Was just looking for something new. Guess I keep looking.

Some of the armor does look abit wierd in EQ II however for the most part its fantastic looking. I've been wanting to play this again, mostly because of this thread actually. There seems to be a lot of people that like it. I played it back in Open Beta and it was pretty fun, had a few problems with it, but overall was fun.

The graphics of Everquest 2 are inferior of Lineage 2, in my humble opinion. The character in Eq2 has plastic looks! LOOk at the hair of the character!!! It s like plastic made, just like it s skin! All ugly bron plastic like something. THe environment it s dominated by gray shades, the water looks like frozen, no reflections at all...all lifeless plastic lie environments... Lineage 2 has vivid colours, nice clean textures, METALIC reflections...Super game DESIGN...just look how shiedls and armour looks, and also the characters are beutifull...:D 12 threads of this post...maybe it wasn t such a bad idea after all..Hate it or love it, there is much to discuss about this game it seems . So, i succedeed in making people notice this superb Game, wich is freeley downloadabla..

Why don't you quit using the same one EQ pic of a guy in leather armor, which that armor pattern doesn't even exhist in game anymore, its been modified and show some other pics of EQ II armor? You don't mind breaking out plenty of good looking plate pics for Lineage II but you sure won't work very hard to get something comparable for EQ II. If your going to post "evidence" then keep the comparisons fair. Don't sit there and post a guy in newbie leather and compare it to plate in the game you like.
EDIT: And btw, the next time you wanna compare enviroments don't use a picture of the desert and then bitch that its tan. Lifeless, right, give it a rest, when I run throught he grass it moves out of my way. You obviously have never played the game and are making assumptions based solely on screenshots. I played this game during CB,OB and for about 5 months into retail. I have not played it since all the new content went live so I can't comment on them.
My main endearing memory of the game was not the graphics, the grind or even the upskirt panty shots , but rather the adena farmers, bots and the worst customer service of any mmorg to date.
To illustrate this a friend in my guild just before chronicle 1 went live asked a CSR if anything was being implemented in chronicle 1 to combat the ever growing number of bots. The question was met with a few minutes of silence and then the question "Is chronicle 1 the name of the bot?" which kind of says it all.
Oh yea...L2...what a game...I have a lvl 69 SwS/SpS <--- (second job) in korean Bartz. Delvled lvl4 TH in Lionna NA. I was with DK clan for awhile.
Moved to another clan...got some doh...broke about 9 duel damascuses...then I got a +11 duel damascus. One day thought I'd go for it to be +16 so it shines red...BOOM! it blew up and there comes the A crystals...

anyone who played open beta in korean server even the foreign testers knew me...Well guess what I quit. I praised this game with all sorts of patriotism and relentless hours of convincing friends even though they were never as hard-core as me...
The game was good I liked the grind because it gave ppl who actually put in effort be somewhat in the top-tier.
But the consequences in the game suck ass...
Not to mention a couple weeks ago...I also tried to +10 on my BoneBreaker on my NA account, but of course it broke. I don't see why I tried that again in an NA server after the painful memory in korean server... T.T
anyways...yea...it got better and it's "more" fun than before. Lvl up and you'll have fun castle siegeing getting in disputes with alliances.
Especially the whole 3 alliance which was led by DK against the server thing, where all those crazy L2 players from other servers made chars in Bartz, logged in with elves lvled to 5 or so and over with power shot and mortal blow horribly lagging the server, and doing guerilla by the masses against one clan "DK".
It was fun stuff, untill I blew 9 duel damascuses from clan money, and then blew +11 damascuses...the game...penalizes wway~~ tooo harshly...and I've about had it.

I think your sig says it all. I've played EQ, DAoC, Shadowbane, AO, Planetside, Lineage 2 NA, and City of Heroes.
Best and most fun toon I ever played. EQ, Human Bard.
Best over all game. DAoC. It's why i played it the longest. 50 skald, 50 infil, 50 paladin, many other toons from all three realms. Levelling was not bad, 3 or 4 months and you had a top level toon, even if you take it easy.
Lineage 2. I went at this game mostly because of a group of hackers from Shadowbane. If I find a game they are in, I make sure to get in so I can warn the populace about them. Fun? Yeah if you think farming greens till you wanna puke for best xp to gold ratio is fun. Only fun part was when I took my Plainswallker or my Elven Elder out to farm bots. They are easy to find. On the server I was on, Gludio and Oren were teaming with them. On every server in NA, you knew if you went to SoDA or EF, you could find more than a couple bots.
So why should I have to wait 1+ years to be able to do what is fun in the game. Seige and PvP. Oh and let's not forget, you must farm nonstop for at least 6 months to be able to get a decent A grade weapon. Oh and when the seiges come, someone else is gonna get that weapon because you are gonna drop it.
Yay! I reported some bots a bit ago. And most of them got banned! ! I reported 11 bots and 7 were banned. Yay. Lol. Atleast I know some bots are getting banned.

Why do u think u ll drop ur weapon or anything else? If u don t kill, if u don t have karma, u don t drop anything, especially equipment.
Of course u have to PLAY at least 6 months to get a B weapon (a is much harder), cause u must be level 52 to be equiped in B. So, Cronicles 1 had max level 75, like cronicles 2 too.

There is a fairly large difference between challenge and masochism. Requiring 6 months to a year to get to the upper levels is not challenging, that my friend is nothing more then a Mindless time sink, He who plays longest wins. Some of you really need to learn the difference between Challenge and stupidity.
I didn't play Lineage 2 before for the grind. I played it for the PvP and rl friends. It was fun to party or go to the many different raid bosses and try to take them down. There were raid bosses for all lvls so me and my friend didn't care about lvling. If you look at the game besides the grind it is very amazing.

Well, I would say there is a big difference between great challenge and a rediculous amount of reptition to get there. Would I like a game that has goals that take more then a year to complete? Absolutely...
Do I want to have to acheive it by killing over and over again for that year? Not a chance in hell.
I haven't seen anyone come up with a good solution to this in my opinion as of yet. I am still waiting, and will continue too, unfortunetly MMO's are to combat-centric to get away from this outlook yet I think.

Exagerate much? It took me 3 months to get to lvl52 which is the level Sieging clans start recruiting at. And that was with a full time job/ part time school. And I had fun getting there. Cruma groups ftw!

If you're good at the game and learn how to play the market, good gear isn't hard to come by. But then again, if it takes you '1+ years' to reach A-grade level.. you really shouldn't be shopping for A-grade 6 months into the game, huh? Good job throwing numbers around.
Oh, and you can't drop weapons in siege zone unless you're red, and you can't go red in siege zone so..
I don't pretend that L2 is perfect but if you're gonna put it down atleast come up with reasons that make sense.

I played this game during CB,OB and for about 5 months into retail. I have not played it since all the new content went live so I can't comment on them.
My main endearing memory of the game was not the graphics, the grind or even the upskirt panty shots
, but rather the adena farmers, bots and the worst customer service of any mmorg to date.
To illustrate this a friend in my guild just before chronicle 1 went live asked a CSR if anything was being implemented in chronicle 1 to combat the ever growing number of bots. The question was met with a few minutes of silence and then the question "Is chronicle 1 the name of the bot?" which kind of says it all.
Oh yea...L2...what a game...I have a lvl 69 SwS/SpS <--- (second job) in korean Bartz. Delvled lvl4 TH in Lionna NA. I was with DK clan for awhile.
Moved to another clan...got some doh...broke about 9 duel damascuses...then I got a +11 duel damascus. One day thought I'd go for it to be +16 so it shines red...BOOM! it blew up and there comes the A crystals...

anyone who played open beta in korean server even the foreign testers knew me...Well guess what I quit. I praised this game with all sorts of patriotism and relentless hours of convincing friends even though they were never as hard-core as me...
The game was good I liked the grind because it gave ppl who actually put in effort be somewhat in the top-tier.
But the consequences in the game suck ass...
Not to mention a couple weeks ago...I also tried to +10 on my BoneBreaker on my NA account, but of course it broke. I don't see why I tried that again in an NA server after the painful memory in korean server... T.T
anyways...yea...it got better and it's "more" fun than before. Lvl up and you'll have fun castle siegeing getting in disputes with alliances.
Especially the whole 3 alliance which was led by DK against the server thing, where all those crazy L2 players from other servers made chars in Bartz, logged in with elves lvled to 5 or so and over with power shot and mortal blow horribly lagging the server, and doing guerilla by the masses against one clan "DK".
It was fun stuff, untill I blew 9 duel damascuses from clan money, and then blew +11 damascuses...the game...penalizes wway~~ tooo harshly...and I've about had it.

I think your sig says it all. I've played EQ, DAoC, Shadowbane, AO, Planetside, Lineage 2 NA, and City of Heroes.
Best and most fun toon I ever played. EQ, Human Bard.
Best over all game. DAoC. It's why i played it the longest. 50 skald, 50 infil, 50 paladin, many other toons from all three realms. Levelling was not bad, 3 or 4 months and you had a top level toon, even if you take it easy.
Lineage 2. I went at this game mostly because of a group of hackers from Shadowbane. If I find a game they are in, I make sure to get in so I can warn the populace about them. Fun? Yeah if you think farming greens till you wanna puke for best xp to gold ratio is fun. Only fun part was when I took my Plainswallker or my Elven Elder out to farm bots. They are easy to find. On the server I was on, Gludio and Oren were teaming with them. On every server in NA, you knew if you went to SoDA or EF, you could find more than a couple bots.
So why should I have to wait 1+ years to be able to do what is fun in the game. Seige and PvP. Oh and let's not forget, you must farm nonstop for at least 6 months to be able to get a decent A grade weapon. Oh and when the seiges come, someone else is gonna get that weapon because you are gonna drop it.

Why do u think u ll drop ur weapon or anything else? If u don t kill, if u don t have karma, u don t drop anything, especially equipment.
Of course u have to PLAY at least 6 months to get a B weapon (a is much harder), cause u must be level 52 to be equiped in B. So, Cronicles 1 had max level 75, like cronicles 2 too.

U just said that u like a challenge, well, l2 is a challenge, u won t get to top level in 2 weeks...what would be the point to do that? THere si challenge behind every corner in L2, u can PVP since level 1, u can participate to siege at every level, why not. U can make a clan at level 10, u can make quests from level 1, u can make party s at every level, u can go at any location on the map, U CAN DO EVERYTHING. I played since Cronicles 1 was launcheg, i start to think that all ya who say the pvp is bed, etc, played the pre release version, wich i see it suked...but then again, if u didn tplayed at LEAST CRONICLES 1-2, u haven t played the real thing.
An Chronicles 3 is a Blast! Weapons have glow effects (star wars like but better), u can ride striders, wyrms, max lvl up to 85,Hero system, PVP system upgraded, New locations, Seven Signs, etc...

There is a fairly large difference between challenge and masochism. Requiring 6 months to a year to get to the upper levels is not challenging, that my friend is nothing more then a Mindless time sink, He who plays longest wins. Some of you really need to learn the difference between Challenge and stupidity.

Well, I would say there is a big difference between great challenge and a rediculous amount of reptition to get there. Would I like a game that has goals that take more then a year to complete? Absolutely...
Do I want to have to acheive it by killing over and over again for that year? Not a chance in hell.
I haven't seen anyone come up with a good solution to this in my opinion as of yet. I am still waiting, and will continue too, unfortunetly MMO's are to combat-centric to get away from this outlook yet I think.

Bots bots bots and grind grind grind is what the player base is saying. I do not go to much by the fanboi's and the mag reviews. I to tend to read the hundreds of player reviews where ever I can find them and make an educated guess from there.
I think I can call that kettle black.
