Have you looked at and read the reviews on THIS board from the players???
    Board Ratings: 6.9
    Player Ratings: 7.1

It is not even in the top 10. image
Bots bots bots and grind grind grind is what the player base is saying.    I do not go to much by the fanboi's and the mag reviews.  I to tend to read the hundreds of player reviews where ever I can find them and make an educated guess from there.
I think I can call that kettle black.

That's what I thought of the game a few months after release too. Helacious grind with farming griefers from hell. Well the initial farming has moved on to higher level pastures and 2 expansions have been released since then and the game is MUCH improved.

You're going by 7 month old impressions of people who played at release or were just like you; listening to what other people said. It's really a brand new game since release with lots of quests and new drops and dungeons and stuff. Now I'm just starting out again mind you and I haven't really hit the grind wall, but it's just such a damn fun game. I was THE biggest Lineage 2 hater but I decided to try it out since Chronicle 3 was out and I was intrigued and I was very pleasantly suprised.

It's a new game almost! New UI, Quests, new gear and drops, new dungeons and the 7 seals quest which I have NO idea what it is but it seems kewl hehe. Give it a try if you're looking for some PvP action, you will be suprised no matter what.

No offense but in EQ it took 6 months to a year to reach level 65, this is if you had ANY kind of a life. I don't think that is such a bad thing as long as the journey itself is fun. It took me about a year and a bit to get level 65 with my Beastlord, albeit with a ton of socializing and helping others. image

EDIT: If Vanguard takes any less than a year to get to the top level then I will feel ripped off. I need a challenge and yes a bit of a timesink. In WoW on spirestone server some guy got to level 60 in 16 days....!!!!! 16 days to get to the top level in a game is a JOKE! I think that is stupidity, to each their own.

No it did not, My married status was the same when I played EQ. I got tired of my wizard and rerolled a rogue it took me 2 months to roll that rogue to 65. Comon now the grind in EQ was not that bad. Now my wizard on the other hand managed to experience every single hell level since he got leveled before they removed them but since he was created in the very beginning its hard to specify how long it took.

Hey me too. My rogue took me about a month to get to level 51, but my FIRST character took me about a year to get to level 65. I'm not speaking of alts and once you figure out the best places to grind and the best way to do so.

I mean my first character, and it took over a year and after 2 years he was level 65 with 100+ AA points. I got every single flag in the game except Time. That took 2 years. If I had stuck with it I could see it easily taking another3 or 4 months to get to plane of time and then another few months to farm all the best loot there.

Trigger I don't think his first language is english so be nice lol. Anyways he types about as good as you. That was the double post from hell hehe. Lineage 2 is not for everyone, but citing names as a reason that it's bad is ludicrous.

Asian names are always gonna be strange to you because it's a totally different culture. It's a crazy game but I dig it. I used to HATE the heck out of it too but I'm back playing again and it is very thrilling. I play on Kain and character name is Arno. I am enjoying it for now and that is enough for me and it's really fun.

BTW you can report delevellers as that is against the EULA, not sure how but it is. I always loved the game but the grind and the farming griefers from hell drove me away. Well 2 expansions have since been released and it is like a brand new game. Don't judge it from release, although the grind is still the same, but to me that is part of the thrill. It is NOT for the impatient.

To each their own, I understand why you don't like it believe me. Everyone is different though that is what makes the world the way it is. If we were all the same it would SUCK! image

EDIT: BTW Rockk those are some spectacular screenshots.image

Ok I will give you that. I imagine leveling in EQ is vastly different as a new player. As far as time was concerned, It took months for us to farm it not due to grind but simply due to the respawn of the zone and it was a darn difficult zone at that time. But I was merely referring to the leveling treadmill in this case.

Say hello to my little friend form Lineage 2... i just call him Stomper :D

Try to compare it with that toy looking horse kinda animal from EQ2 -- :P :D not :sigh: :P

Ilike lineage cause it s not easy to make high level characters, i have quests to do if i don t wanna kill monsters(extremley low chances for that to happen), i can save a player from dying, i can run to the top of the world and fly back on top of my wyrm, or summon my black panther and kick some butt, pledge war with a clan or two, i can go to Devil s Island to find hidden treasure, i cango fight pyrates in pyrates cave, filled witha wrecked ship and ghostley pirates. Everythign about this game si Huuuuuge,....huge dungeons, world, monsters, etc... i don t even wanna go into details, cause i would have to spend my night writing.

    image
    image

I still wanna try EQ2..seems itneresting, even if its ugly as hell in my eyes, and i m talking about design, not game graphics...

ps: In the pictures above i `m level 47 Human Dark Avenger, i did that in 2 weeks, i have Full plate armor set, and Sword of Limit :D Grinding is fun for me, i just watch does percents rise to the top, and those stats get filled , oo, and the tatoos rock in c2! :D gg nc soft

THe SYSTEM i made the pictures: GEFORCE 3 titanium, amd 2400+, 512 ram, i play the game at 1280X1024 FULL DETAIl all the time... the engine of this game Rulez!! it s unreal engine 1, buffed up alot! Also, in no game i had seen such life like trees as in lienage 2 near oren!

Just got a chance to read this post, and would have to agree that lin2 is one of the better games on the market, though the grind far outways any chance for myself to put into a game.

As to the posters a few back saying how they leveled in eq to top level in a month or so be sure to specify that it was a more recent happening, being that upon launch it was near impossible to get to even level 50(top level at that time)in 6 months even at 24 hours a day.I will say though that that was by far the best mmorpg I myself have played and since i grew out of that one no other game(and i have tried them all) has even come close to the experience with eq, all are seemingly cheap by-products.......Yet I waste my time with all of them....ack

No, he plays on a free server that's 20x faster. Bots are evil and please don't promote their use as you can get banned. They are illegal, immoral and just downright LAME. The grind IS hellacious in Lineage 2 but that's no excuse to cheat. Botters WILL burn in the fiery pit of hellimageimageimage Well at least they could.

Rockk you give Lineage 2 players a bad name. image. Stop playing the crap stuff and play the real stuff. Rockk, go away until you play the offical servers. Go go i pk. Wo me pk! image ++hp! The adena farmers don't do that anymore, infact there is not as much of them as there used to be.

Some pictures, these were taken like a year ago. This is one in retail, I got a ton of them that are from Closed beta and Open Beta but don't want to show them because they really useless cause i was just learning how to take in-game pictures, some are pretty sweet though. Anyway:

Lineage 2 has poor reviews because it's (or at least use to be) a bot-fest full of immature hackers.

It sure did, and you forget HELACIOUS grind! Does my heart good to see how much a game I used to hate (The ONLY MMOG I have ever hated, in fact) can change for the better! Read my other posts to see how the game has improved. It is truly like playing a new game! Grind is still there though lol but that is a good thing in some ways too. Not every way lol but in some ways yes the hellish grind is good.

No, i have 3 characters , and the server is 5x not 20. That doesen t mean it s easy. I played for 1 year to make 59 character beacuse i didn t knew much about the game and i was was discovering it s features. Extremeley fun and revording experience i may add. After that, i started a new character , same xp rates, and i made level 47 in 2 weeks playing 2 hours a day nad like 6 in weeknds, i had best gear from other char. so it helped alot. I don t have time to play sadley, but i can t help it, i must play cause i love to.
It s easy to say: play on official, but the fee is a bit high for just playing a game. Untill they make it easy topay for or a bit cheaper, i won t play it on official. I play my monthley internet bills for that money, and i have more money to spend on stoopid things :D
And also, U know u all scared me of the official server..bots, farmers, etc..i never know that on the official server there are so much oif them that u ll hate the game because of this! so no way thnak u. I don t promote Unofficial servers, plz don t delete posts, i just answered , that s all.

I crafted the full palte armor for 3 months. :D If u play Lienage 2 L2informer is the application u need, it shows what every monsters drops and at what rates. u can get it from here www.thunderclan.go.ro.

So, this was my second character, my first one is level 59 gladiator, and my third one a level 40 spoiler. If u need materials , make a spoiler u gather at level 30 hundreds of materials in only a few hours. U just need to know what drops where, so u di nt waste time. Get l2informer.!

Full plate armor is the hardest to make in the game, because full plate armor tempers(wich ar the main componente of the armor) don t drop, u can just spoil them from barif s pet. There are a group of 3 barif s pet, and a barif in the middle, so u have to beat all the 4 of them. V v hard, of course u need on top of that a spoiler too.

I made this armor of vanity i guess :P i love the way it looks, but it s far too hard to make . Of course i gathered enoung with my 2 other characters, + i have a clan, wich helpS ALOT>

    ABOUT THE PVP SYSTEM:

Lineage 2 no doubt. I played 4 of the games , and none is as good as this.

    Combats Points and PvP

Combat Points (CP) offer a new dynamic to PvP situations by adding an extra layer of protection when attacked by another player. CP acts as a buffer that must be depleted before damage will affect the player's hit points.

If a player is damaged by another player (including servitors and pets of a player), CP is consumed first with no effect on Hit Points (HP). If the CP is not enough to consume all the damage, HP begins to be consumed.

Like HP, CP is also gradually recovered as time passes. The CP total varies by class and level, recovers over time, and acts as a buffer that must be depleted before damage will affect the player's hit points.

    About Player vs. Player Combat

To begin attacking another player, hold the Ctrl key and attack or use a skill. Some areas, such as villages, are "safe zones" where PvP combat is restricted.

PvP gameplay is based on a color-coded system. The name of any character who attacks another player turns purple (aggressive), and this also applies to anyone who attacks an aggressive player. Players do not receive penalties for attacking and defeating aggressive characters. However, when attacking and killing characters that are neutral (white colored names), the player's Karma points increase and the player becomes a chaotic character.

Chaotic character names turn red, and the guards of any village will attack a chaotic character whenever they come in contact with one. Chaotic characters cannot use shop services, and have a high chance of dropping items upon death. However, a chaotic character with a PK count of five or less will not drop items upon death.

The table below shows the color-coded system in action.

    image

To reduce Karma back to 0, the player must hunt monsters. There is also a quest available that can reduce the number of Player Kills a player has earned. Speak to the Black Judges to begin the Repent Your Sins quest.

I find it very fair and square. I fu don t wanna fight don t he back, if the sucker will kill u, he ll turn red, so quickley tell everybody that xxx is red at location yyy, and thrust more hundreds of players will be heading straight to him to killhim, because most sureley part of he `s gear will drop, unlike in ur cause, beeing white, having not kill anybody, nothing will drop from you.
If u keel a much lower level character the hogher karma u gain. The more karma u get, the more time u `ll spend hiding, finding hidden places where nowhere can see you and kill monsters to reduce karma. U`ll get the feeling of beeing persecuted, etc.. Bad karma right? PERFECT

If u just wanna pvp u can go to arena, and gain no karma.
However if u wanna pvp outside of Arena, make sure that the dude u hitt will hit u back, and thus he ll become Purple. Once he turns purple and he snot white anymore, PVP BEGINS, no karma gain, just xp loss for the loser. PVP rules, it s a reason why u want a higher leveld character in the game, to feel the power of ur character. It s a kul feeling passing nearby lower level characters ( u can see their level by the type of armor they wear.. d grade is for level 20-40, c grade 40-52, b grade 52-61, etc), u can play cat and mouse with them, just don t kill em. I never kill i lower level d character, i just show them how powerfulli am if they hit me. If it s much higher then me, i don t hit back. ( u can know if somenone is much hgher level then u by the damage he mackes to u, or by the gear he wears).
So, u must be agile, quick thinking, have a good pvp strategy..knowing when to stun ur enemy or when to use certain skill makes all the difference.

P.S GREATNESS: i looked at ur screenshots, near oren u have green trees...in the game near oren or different type of treees, and in other screenshots i notice muc diference..i thin u played a really old version of the game, like many others

    Rockk

    Im sorry

I cant take any of your critiques at heart when I know you cheat. All of your reviews sorta...well...mean nothing to me.

Any Tom, Dick, and Harry can go on a free moneyx5, exp x5 server and get what you got in one to three months.

Play it on the TRUE servers and then come back and post some pics.....then some of us will start to take you seriously.

Posting picks of your armor and mounts which took you hardly any time to get due to free servers and their exp hacks is just tasteless imo

And I think you are actually hurting Lineage ][ versus helping it when you post stuff from servers that arent even legal.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

  • RockkRockk Member Posts: 26

"Any Tom, Dick, and Harry can go on a free moneyx5, exp x5 server and get what you got in one to three months."

Well, if 1 year and 8 months of playing to get to 59 lvl and crafting an item for 3 months is easy for you, i admire u. FOr me was hard, still, it was a goal of the game, so for me it was a challenge, not annoying or anything.

The rates 5x that experience is 5x xp, 5x adena drop wich may vary, 5x drops(v v rare drops), and not that The game is 5x faster. not at all.

Maybe they should change the rates on the official if everything is as hard as u say it is, maybe like the way it is now it really is way too chalenging, that u ll abandone before u get to the really fun part of it.
On the 5x server where i play there was a comunity of 4k +and growing, and i know people that don t sleep or eat regulary for weeks, because of this game, only 10 of 4ooo+ got to level 71.
So, don t think that the rates make everything. IT s not a cheat. U take it as u want to, still, it s a choice. My choice.
I know the games features, i played it to the core , at least c2, i explored almost every aspect of it, even sieges. I m not a hardcore player i don t have 12 hours of a day to play, still i wish i had.
It s very rude of u to call me a cheater, i worked for every little adena in the game, i never bought it, or stole it or whatever.

So if ur statement is i`m cheating, that s ur point of view. I don t get free items, i don t get nothing for free, i have to make comerce, sell, buy, beat up monsters, go scavenging with spoilers, make events, beat some more monsters, party ing to get quicker xp, etc.

CHeating? i think ur just pissed cause i don t play on official servers. It s my choice plz respect it. Whatever consequences my actions may have in behalf of playing at higher rates or vis a vi of nc soft regard me and me alone.

I posted picks of my armour because it was a dispute about the graphics and design of the game.
If i `m taken seriousley or not, i don t care.

At least people can make an idea about the game itself, hey will aknowledge the game, they will get interrested, rather to be discouraged by most of the reviews wich gave this game a bad score.

The review is way to old , marking the beginning of the game, and the end of betatests i think. U should review it properley. THis is my opinion, this is why i made this post in the first place. It s outrageous to give such a game a score of 6 and scare any possible players away. Lineage 1 was the most played mmorpg in the world at it s time, i looked at google and saw this, this is a fact, and i think that Lineag 2, beeing a sequel to L1 deservers at least more respekt. I wish i knew about Lineage 1 at it s time, so i could ve played it... but of course nc soft never was such a big company as Blizzard...

I have to agree with En1gma, Rockk. Not just because he is really me image jk lol sorry I've been drinking.

I know it's still fun for you on fake servers, but pay the 15 bucks a month k bro? Get through the hellish grind and then, if your enthusiasm is still unbroken, we can all do the Lineage 2 dance. I play at work and I enjoy the heck out of it, but you really aren't helping the game by playing on a free server. In fact, you are hurting it. I pay and the grind is already visible at level 12 lol but I don't mind, it beats lifting heavy objects. image

I do love the game now with all the improvements, but posting screenies of you on your ill gotten mount are truly less meaningful than if you earned them on an official server. We don't have to respect your choice to play on illegal servers, it's our choice. I am glad you love the game, but it really is cheapened by the fact that you play on illegal servers. But other than the fact that you are taking money out of the devs mouths, you're right about the game, it is underrated but only because most people really hate the grind, as it is from hell hehe.
