Is EVE online also medicore because of its low ammount of subscribers?
Truthfully... yes. Thats exactly the point.
A game quality speaks for itself. If a game is amazing with great depth, content, etc, people would flock to it. A game with a modest subscription base tells us that the majority of people don't care to play it. Not because they are unaware of what the game offers but rather they just aren't that interested to start playing it.
Which is totally fine I should state. As long as a person enjoys the game they are playing then thats all that should matter. Problem arises when the fans have to believe the game they are playing is superior to all other games when in reality it's just another average game.
As for L2, if Im not mistaken, they are only running 1 server to accomodate all the interest over in Europe.
yes that's why george dubya is our president...because he is the highest quality person we could pick for president
that's why mcdonalds makes the best food...because they sell the most hamburgers
that's why britney spears has platinum albums...because she's the best singer
Originally posted by t0yb0x I got this game when it first came out. Played for a few months and then quit. There just wasn't enough to keep me interested. Grinding has never been fun to me. The first little bit is alright, but when you grind and grind and grind just to gain that extra level... well... dullsville. Also got tired of my characters saying the same things over and over when casting spells. Have things changed much from over the past two years? The things I hated from this game:
PKers standing outside of town to kill low level players no longer as prevalent although still possible
Grinding your ass off only to die and lose that level you just attained well its a pvp game...a little fear makes the game more interesting
Adena farmers killing my quest mob that i had to kill 40 creatures just to get it to spawn farmers cant be bothered with lowbie areas anymore...not too much problem until high level raid bosses
Finally buying a weapon that took forever to afford... Only to get killed and have it drop and taken away extremely rare to drop an equipped weapon unless u have over five pks and havent done the sineater quest
Racism overload! lot of idiots still...but its prolly no more than in any other game...its just they dont get banned as easily in L2...btw i'd rather know who my enemies are then clan with closet racists...and one more thing...in L2 you can kill them lol
Everyone looks the same new hairdyes, eye patches, rabbit ears, hairpins, formal wear...its not the most variety for sure but a lot more variety in c4 than in c1...and most of the characters look nice to begin with...where as in wow they are just butt ugly
Quests that make you spend a fortune to finish yah its still a bit ch to port around for your profession change
I'm sure there's more, but I can't recall... It's been at least 1 1/2 years since I played and it left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Granted it is graphically amazing, but there's not near enough to hold my attention. If I want to spend hours killing one type of mob to gain adena and xp then I guess L2 is fine. But overall... I don't think I miss this PKers haven called Lineage 2. Cheers! t0yb0x
i interjected my comments in between your points...no comparison between c4 and prelude/c1

Thanks for the info. Seems alot has changed since L2 first came out. But I wonder... Would going BACK to L2 be a good idea or a bad one. I have no problems w/ the pvp aspect. My comment on dying and losing a lvl was just dying from actual game mobs.
If only NCSOFT would do a gamecard that would work for ALL their games. Then I'd go back for certain.
The racism bit seemed very prominent in L2 tho. I've played other MMOs and never EVER saw as much chinese bashing as I did in L2. It was rather disgusting.
Cheers! t0yb0x

the guy above u is just being sarcastic
either he prefers the fast levelling/low attention span mmorpgs like guild wars/wow
or he's just a flamer that never played past beta/c1
the original poster's point is that they improved the game drastically since the beginning of retail this is true...but if you don't like a long grind you will not like this game...

well if you don't mind a long grind i think the game is a lot of fun in the upper levels...you need to be social and join a guild...the game revolves around the pvp and politics so if you don't get involved in that then it will be boring for you...the reason you grind is so that u can defeat people that have harmed you and/or your guild...without that motivation, i can see why people become disgruntled
there is racism still but no more than in real life...i really think that the difference between an mmorpg and ur daily experience at work and school is that in the mmorpg people can hide behind their anonymity whereas in real life they might act like a friend but have these kinds of thoughts
the irony is that because its an asian influenced game...many of the racists are named after anime characters which of course are japanese names lol

GG...man popularity doesnt mean best all the time
i cant see how anyone with a healthy social life can see any form of progression in Lineage 2.
