There never has been ship collision and there never will be. It simply puts too much load on the servers. I agree that collision is important for immersion, but there are plenty of ways to exploit it in an MMO. Griefing is the main example.

All I've received from the users is open, constructive criticism. If people can't handle that on the internet then they need a reality check.
And if someone gives you a bit of lip about something trivial, then you report them to mods and STFU
Judging by the many interviews and the recent Q and A IRC Chat, the NetDevil guys are pretty passionate about getting the fundamentals correct before they even enter beta.
