  • If you played UO for 10 years, then I'm pretty sure ANY game will be fine. :P   People quit UO because it morphed into something else, something horrible. So yeah, Darkfall should be fine.

  • Blame it on Everquest. The two biggest MMOs when this whole thing started were Ultima Online and Everquest. UO, the better game, was difficult and harsh (making the "winning" feeling of it that much more rewarding). Everquest was easy and create…

  • Originally posted by Anubisan I started this game with 3 RL friends and all of us quit after a few months because of the grind. I know that none of them will come back and give the game another chance at this point. Similar thing with me and t…
  • Now instead of 100 years, it will only take 30-50 years? Yay. Put in a skill cap and reduce travel grind (that may already be being done?) and I'll play. In other words, make it more like Old UO.
  • Originally posted by Ringsid The game isnt for everybody. Life might be hard on Darkfall but if you are the kind of person dream of the old school FFA full loot pvp MMO Like Asheron's Call 1 or UO then here is your home awaiting.    I know…
  • Games aren't as hard as they used to be, that one can't really be disputed. I remember being disappointed when the first "arrows" started popping up in games - now they're basically required in every game. Every game is basically "follow the arrow…
  • Just like most MMOs that say they're like Oldschool UO, it sounds promising, but then you see little things here and there that make you realize it's more like WoW than UO. I like the housing system, though. The forced faction alignment sucks to…
  • Yeah the possible grind scares me. They say they want to be like UO, though and UO had no grind. Who knows? You can build houses and stuff, so at least there'd be other things to do like in UO.
  • Hmm. After some research (accidently stumbling upon mostly) I see your ideas are actually part of something bigger and my interest was piqued. One cool thing I thought could serve as a "penalty" without ruining a PK's experience too much is adding…
  • A lot of great ideas on what UO should have done to stay in the game. I don't know if a game as inventive as UO is ever coming to come out (on a decent budget) any time soon. Everything has gone the way of EQ/WoW.
  • I love PvP, but I prefer a bit of a ruleset too. Makes it sane, otherwise it's just like logging in to a First Person Shooter and killing everyone, it's fun for a while, but it takes away the immersion to me, which is the selling point to an MMO.
  • You weren't really paying for the box, you were paying for early access to the game. Who gives a fuck about the box? And a Manual... are you kidding? What are you going to do with it? nobody reads manuals to online games, especially since they're …

  • I disagree. Darkfall's major failing was not its game engine. The game was stable enough, it was just the lack of content and the grind that killed Darkfall. In fact, Darkfall may have the better MMO engine. I'm not too impressed by what MO has …
  • Great read and spot on. Somebody with some creative talent really needs to create UO's natural sequel. Nobody has done it yet. Everquest came out after UO, made some cash, and everyone (especially wow) cloned it for money...   I'm still waiti…
  • You read my mind, I've suggested the same exact thing. It makes more sense. And the server wouldn't be bogged down because people wouldn't be in a rush to be first in line, since it'd all be random anyway. People would sign up gradually during t…
